The assignment format honestly doesn’t make any sense. I’ve asked my tutor for clarification, but even though I’m a part-time online student, for some odd reason I’m expected to complete a research analysis within two days. Where is the flexibility and convenience that online part-time study is supposed to offer? At this point, it genuinely feels like an absolute scam.

One of the best providers offering the Graduate Diploma in Law. Having qualified as a lawyer abroad, I wanted fast, intensive, and professional training, and CoLP was the perfect fit. I am really satisfied with my decision to study for the GDL here. The CoLP tutors were fully equipped to support us—I never felt that a question wasn't thoroughly answered or explained well. The workshops were engaging with great interaction throughout.
Serving as a course representative and college ambassador allowed me to see firsthand that the opportunities provided here are on par with traditional GDL providers in the UK. The best part is that the College is a non-profit organization, which makes a huge difference.

I had a great experience studying the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) with the College of Legal Practice. The course was well-structured, engaging and provided a strong foundation in the core areas of law. The learning materials were clear and comprehensive, making it easier to understand complex legal concepts.
The flexibility of the online learning format allowed me to study at my own pace while balancing other commitments. I also found the tutors to be knowledgeable, supportive and responsive whenever I needed guidance.
I am delighted to have successfully completed the GDL and I feel much more confident in my legal knowledge and prepared for the next stage of my legal career. I would highly recommend the College of Legal Practice to anyone looking for a flexible, high-quality legal education.

The students’ services team and module supervisors are very supportive.
The LLM with SQE 1 & 2 is well structured and helps to build the skills a new solicitor or trainee needs.
Feedbacks from supervisors are crucial and helped me to understand my strengths and weaknesses. And of course, the LLM program comes with SQE preparation resources and a Master’s degree. Really helpful as it also allows home students to get student finance to fund the program.

Overpriced, underdeveloped, and nowhere near SQE2 ready
The College of Legal Practice charges top tier fees but delivers a bottom tier product. The course feels rushed, shallow, and completely out of step with what the SQE2 actually requires. No real drafting guidance, no meaningful skills training, and limited mocks are outnumbered by lazily put together warm-up exercises. Videos and podcasts involve a woman monotonously reciting notes.
Support is almost non existent. Ask anything outside the narrow set assignments and you’ll be met with silence. Communication within the College is chaotic at best. You’re essentially left to teach yourself.
The Office for Students recently rated them poorly for quality of academic experience and staff effectiveness — and honestly, that’s generous. Throughout my 40 week course, activities were constantly withdrawn because they were inaccurate or poorly designed. Even the most basic admin tasks were mishandled. Dispute Resolution tutor didn’t understand fundamental contract and tort principles. There were typos, bad grammar, logical omissions and missing drafting forms to name but a few in their unchecked and unedited materials,
For the price they charge, this level of delivery is unacceptable. You’d get more value — and far less frustration — by studying independently.

I cannot recommend The College of Legal Practice enough. The LLM Legal Practice course is really in-depth, helpful and concise. The value for money is outstanding. I would really encourage any application to the College.

Not worth the money. Manual’s are really hard to understand and repetitive, you can tell they are AI generated, so are the MCQS, some of them don’t even make sense. The seminars are not helpful, very basic and LLB like - should be based more around the SQE and how we may see it come up in the exam rather than just explain the basic law to us again. 13 week course with the expectation of two sub units a day, as well as scheduled classes - very unrealistic expectation, no one can do that - a better more realistic schedule should be set out for students to follow. Summative was also scheduled really early on - no time to revise or catch up on the content. Should’ve been scheduled for later on in early January.

Really useful course in preparation for the SQE1. The materials were aligned to the spec quite tightly so there was a lot that I didn't need to revise in the same way for the LLM so there wasn't so much overwhelm of material. The practice tests were great too and really helped me hone in on my weak areas ahead of the exams. Compared to the SQE1 questions, where the SQE were a 9/10 in difficulty, the COLP were often a 7 or 8/10 so quite closely aligned to what you could potentially see on the day.

Brilliant course-all online; supportive and talented teachers. Far cheaper than other institutions yet high quality. Can complete GDL in 5 months full time. Clear resources.

I had a very positive experience studying the Graduate Diploma in Law with the College. The programme was well structured and provided a strong foundation in core legal principles. The teaching staff were knowledgeable and supportive, and the course materials were clear and practical.
What I particularly appreciated was the flexibility of the programme, which allowed me to manage my studies while balancing other commitments. The College also provided helpful guidance and resources for students looking to progress to the next stage of legal qualification.
Overall, it was a valuable learning experience that prepared me well for the next step in my legal career.

I recently completed the GDL through COLP. Although part-time, the course is very fast-paced and requires a significant amount of independent study. The weekly reading requirements are extensive; however, the materials provided are relevant and engaging. The GDL manual supplied by the college is thorough, concise, and invaluable when completing assignments.
The workload during the assignment period is particularly heavy - completing six assignments within a four-week period is challenging, and I do question how students who work full time manage this.
The course itself is very flexible, and I was able to study around my personal commitments. That said, I think many students would benefit from later workshop times, as these were consistently scheduled during the working day. Although I rarely attended live sessions, I found that (most) staff were easy to contact and responsive to questions.
Kathryn, the course leader, is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly has a genuine desire to see students succeed.
Overall, I would recommend COLP and will be returning to study the LLM.
