I have been a big fan of cods scallops and normally have a great experience. But today my chips and mushy peas were great but the expensive battered haddock was horrible. The batter was not crisp and... See more

Absolutely fabulous battered Monkfish

Absolutely fabulous battered Monkfish, chips and mushy peas. Couldnt fault the meal or the service.
However, only 3 stars as we paid 14 pounds for 2 (small) bottles of diet coke. I must confess I didn't look at the price before ordering, so I have to take it on the chin, but I was stunned!
I work in a restaurant myself where the small bottles are around 3 pounds, which is bad enough.
It's put me off going back.

Cod's Scallops West Bridgford 100%

Thought we'd try the relatively new Cod's Scallops on Wilford Rd, West Bridgford. Wondered if they could match the Wollaton branch. Yes! They nailed it. Superb fish, the chips ..... proper chips! Everything 100%. Friendly staff. Very clean. We'll be back! Thank you to Gemma and Jack.

Wouldn’t eat here again

3rd time I’ve been. Every time something has been missed off my order. The last time I was missing peas and when I went back I was told I was basically lying. Tried to order a small sausage and was told they only do large so got back to my hotel to find a small one and been charged for a large. Chips are over cooked dry. Seems like no one cares or has any idea what they are doing. It’s nothing special at all. Better off with McDonald’s chips!

Had cod chips and mushy peas on Saturday 26.6.22. Normally very good but they were over cooked chips , fish tasted funny and swimming in grease. Peas ok. Not sure will return as this is the second time that they had not been nice

Brilliant fish restaurant

Friendly and helpful waiter. The fish stew was fantastic value and top restaurant quality. Went back the next day and tried the vegan curry which was also excellent. Huge variety of fresh fish, this place is a gem!

Wollaton branch: food very good / service + value not !

Went to wollaton branch on October 21st - lunchtime. They were busy and that seemed to be a problem as only one , young woman, was up to the job really. They were both absorbed on till with some idiot male customer with big order messing about; fair enough but for c 8 “ no one said anything to me and left me standing there increasingly unimpressed. I asked to eat in and then asked an older woman ( with glasses) how generous was the standard portion of chips : this question seemed to confuse her as 3 times I got told the price instead , her getting more frustrated! The young woman heard and had the brains to answer reasonably well. Older woman had a mutter under breath I didn’t respond to .
Food: chips to me were very good and freshly cooked. The fish soup was excellent, HOWEVER why on earth it’s served in possibly the most unsuitable vessel is beyond me !! Cmon people , look what they do in France and let’s be ‘ grown up ‘ rather than ‘ quirky/ funky’ ie frustrating !!
Price : takeaway prices reasonable, so why even with vat included, did my £2.50 soup become £4.50 and my chips jump a fair piece too ? Not impressed. Wash up in Chanel no5 do we ?!
In summary , a mixed bag. I have a business helping businesses. Give me a week here and let me sort it out , because it’s making mistakes = too much expansion / insufficient attention to detail is my guess.

Perfect fish and chips

Market Harborough visited the Cod's Scallop yesterday, a friendly greeting on entering with hygiene standards high. Table service by a happy young lady. Ordered the days special a Mini fish, chips and mushy peas. On arrival we were surprised at how the fish was a great size. The batter was perfection crispy, and light and the cod was lovely and moist, not dry , the chips were as they should be cooked perfectly. Mushy peas were tasty.
Had coffees also. All in all I recommend visiting here. 5*

It is The Cod's Scallops (Carrington, Nottingham)

Lost count of how many times I've eaten in the new Cod's Scallops fish restaurant in Carrington, Nottingham since it opened this year. Food is always amazing, staff are always happy, efficient and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. The dining area is comfortable and the whole experience transports you to a holiday environment for an hour or so. There is a sister restaurant in Wollaton which has won Fish and Chip awards and I cannot imagine that this one will not receive the same accolades.
