The software works as advertised BUT you do not own it.
The software works as advertised. We wanted to change the look of the tickets and were told we could. when those edits didn't appear we asked for support. At the time we were told we had to upgrade to get this edit to work.
This isn't our current concern. As in the other review, "You own the software and can continue to use it without upgrading". Which was really one of the reasons that we suggested this Event Time Fully Loaded to our client. For the past two days, the Ticketing website will load, them immediately go to a 404 page. This isn't "Owning the software" Everything we looked at did not resolve this issue. What we did find is that the software makes a call back to home base. This is fine as they need to protect their work. Except, we did pay for it and for whatever reason their licensing server is not reachable. It's not a firewall rule as last week the software was working fine. I took the step to restore a backup of the software from June. About 2 months ago. I picked this as there were no issues at all during this time. We have been considering upgrading to resolve the previously mentioned ticket issue. My backup loaded fine, then immediately forwarded to a 404 that stated we have no internet. Obviously we have internet, I can ssh and load the front page. My concern isn't that the licensing server may be down, and that we have put in a ticket, filled in their contact form and have had no response at all. I can live with "we are working on it". I can tell my customer who now relies on this software they are fixing it, if they were to respond at all to this issue. there has been no response and I can provide screen shots if that helps. Advertising that you OWN the software isn't accurate if it can be turned off without notice and at no fault of your own. Again, I do understand that they need to protect their work, but they also need to protect their client. We are not running more than the paid copy, we are not sharing the software and we have not violated our license in any way. Our client cannot run her business without selling tickets. At the very least a response indicating they are aware of the issue would be reasonable. I am hoping they resolve this shortly, but I can't even say if they're still in business at this point. It is very frustrating.
Since the posting of this review, the software vendor has responded to our concerns. They have rectified the issue and everything appears to be back working. I very much appreciate that they have taken the time to make getting everything working a priority. We have been in development for almost 30 years and it is not often that a company takes this level of concern for their clients. I do understand the need to protect the software. So I can sympathize with the base concept. I hope that there is a way to do both, care for the software and the client going forward.
