Receptionist laughs at my ill bird

Made a call to J Hall practice today, and was shocked by receptionist attitude. She multiple times clearly giggled over phone while I am explaining about my ill macaw. Especially when I have asked her about the appointment any earlier - she literally laugh at full volume! then she said we are so busy and laugh again! Won't ever book with them!

Cannot express my gratitude to this vet clinic ! I had my lionhead rabbit treated for jaw infection , 2 months treatment but it has paid in the end.

My only avian vets

I have been with this practice for over a decade. I have 0 complaints, I am going there very often as I care for many birds and they always do their best. I don't trust any other vet with my parrots. All the team is very caring. They have also seen my cats.

Simply Amazing Vets

I went to C J Hall vets in Sheen with my Guinea pig who had a bladder stone.
Best vets I’ve ever seen. Chocolate had the best of care. I was updated regularly with news. He wasn’t rushed out he ended up staying 3 nights at the vets. The team are simply fantastic and deal with all small and exotic animals I wouldn’t see anyone else now for my Guinea pigs fantastic vets and got chocolate in so quick for his operation.

Do not take your rabbits to this clinic

Terrible clinic, terrible service, terrible attitude and terrible experience.
Never take your rabbits here, this clinic has even been removed from the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund list of recommended and approved rabbit savvy vets due to their multiple complaints and issues.

Shocking experience and killed my rabbit

I’m so SO angry with this surgery! After working in veterinary for 6 years this surgery came so highly rated after my ex colleague who was an exotic vet moved to LA, I was suggested to come here. well... I will never forget this experience and will URGE any bunny owner to really reconsider going to this place.

My baby girl needed a lot of dental and had a sticky eye and nose because of the inflammation, she was already on baytril for this prior to her surgery, booking her in was really easy and I was reassured that her husbun was able to go with her to keep her calm, and then this is where it all went wrong! I called and called to get an update, no one ever answers the phones for ages, I was promised updates that I had to follow up and chase up... I just wanted to know how my bunny was after her 1st ever major surgery! Knowing how risky it is with them as it is I was so stressed. I was told a vet would call me back later to let me know how it went but by the time it got to 4:40pm and them closing in 20 minutes I had no idea if my rabbits were coming home or what was going on I had NO IDEA what was happening and it was so so upsetting!!!! They were house bunnies free roaming so not having them home or knowing if they were okay was not in my opinion acceptable to let an owner worry like this, not to mention the costs you pay to come to this “highly skilled” vets! I was so reluctant to let them stay as I would of given her better care being home in the night but yet, that was not a choice.
I was told her results would be back in a couple of days and yet the 2 times I called they were not back, I had to wait and no one ever called me to say they were back and once again I had to chase the following week... oh low and behold they had been back for days and no one at this vets called me to tell me she needed injections of penicillin for her aggressive infection! My local vets had to order it in over night to start her on it the following day urgently.... well guess what... she didn’t make it and I completely hold this vet surgery responsible for their negligence to notify me or let me speak to the vet which caused her almost a week of suffering before passing away in my arms because she only managed to get 1 dose but it was too late! Neither of my rabbits came back from here wanting to eat or play, even the healthy one! I paid above £1000 in total for her treatment (majority of that to C J Hall) to find out after everything that a bacterial infection was the cause and could have been treated much quicker had they of just told me the results for the tests they took! Instead the Baytril wasn’t strong enough and it spread to her lungs. Disgraceful! No follow up to see how she was after surgery, just took my money and didn’t look back... My poor other bun is now grieving the loss of his bonded companion of 6 years and this could have been acted on much sooner and she could of still been here. I’m totally heartbroken. Please avoid this surgery if you care for your bunnies as they really don’t and just see it as “another rabbit coming through the doors”

Excellent service

Top notch! First visit and must say a big thank you for seeing our parrot in an emergency. Staff certainly have people and animal skills. In addition, they have excellent covid restrictions.
Definately recommend

The best vets for exotics

Absolutely amazing vets. Can be hard to get through to reception sometimes, but given that the receptionists are also nurses I can understand why. Matthew is an excellent vet who really knows his stuff about exotics. Having kept birds for years, it’s hard to find a vet who actually knows about birds and isn’t just reading off a care page online. The only improvement I could recommend is maybe hire a dedicated receptionist as the nurses always seem to be run off their feet between reception and consultations. I don’t trust many vets to know what they’re doing with my birds, but I trust Matthew and his team completely.

Extremely hardworking

Matthew, Roxanne and all the staff were phenomenal.
Matthew and his team were highly recommended after one of my bunnies fell ill and my normal vet was no longer able to help him. We arrived and were seen very promptly. Matthew explain what tests he was going to run, all outcomes possible from those tests and the next steps based on the different outcomes. He answered all questions myself and my partner had and provided regular updates even outside normal operating hours! Much appreciated!
Our bunny was in a really bad state and we knew any chance he had of coming home was definitely with the team at CJ Hall.
As you would predict, it's not a cheap trip however they worked within our insurance scope and even offered to set up a payment plan should we need it.
Since our experience with CJ Hall, I have recommended the surgery to everyone I know with a pet.
I wish I lived closer and only dealt with this surgery! If I have any emergencies in the future, I would 100% come back to CJ Hall.

I have visited the practice recently

I have visited the practice recently, after it was suggested by the Avian Veterinary Services of Cheshire. Indeed, after visiting them I realised that they must be amongst the top Avian vets in the UK. I couldn't be happier I found them. Also, their weekly prices are less than the daily prices of unspecialised vets, showing their high respect for the animals and ethos.
120% recommended. The only thing I regret is that I did not know about them earlier.
