17:40 to 22:40 waiting time - maternity assessment unit
17:40 to 22:40 waiting time at the Maternity Assessment Unit, and I’m 37 weeks pregnant.
I went to the unit because I had been experiencing sharp pain for hours.
I can’t stop crying at the thought of how this can happen. Doctors and midwives are professionals, but something needs to change at this hospital, especially when it comes to caring for pregnant women and the excessive waiting times.
They tell us to come in if our symptoms change, but after this experience, I’m scared I’ll have to face the same waiting time again.
Thank you so very much for all the…
Thank you so very much for all the kindness and care I received on my short visit it was much appreciated

My GP made referral to CH&W hospital to…
My GP made referral to CH&W hospital to be seen by Rheumatology Doctor after 5 years in treatment for osteoporosis+2 years ' drug holiday '. My treatment should be reviewed and give GP further guidance. I waited for 1 and half year for appointment. I was informed by booking staff that the request to have check up was declined. I haven't received any explanation why.
Bad Experience I though Pregnant women…
Deeply Disappointed by yesterdays Experience in A &E
I never imagined a pregnant woman would be left waiting for over 4 hours with no communication and no priority. The reception staff were rude, and we felt completely ignored. We had to leave without even seeing the doctor. No one should be treated like this. I truly hope the hospital takes this seriously and improves how they care for vulnerable patients.
Had an appointment with the Ophthalmologist
Had an appointment with the ophthalmology team (first floor at CWH), had to wait for 1,5 hours while other patients arriving after me being seen before me, no apology of course, the whole appointment took less than 10 minutes, despite my complaints about worsening vision (was -3 now more than -4 within 2 years) nothing was done, no tests, was just briefly told I was ok. Had I known my appointment was going to be that way I would not have come at all! It was my follow up, first appointment last year was rescheduled by the hospital and I had to wait another 6 months for just 10 minutes. Very disappointed!
I again was taken in emergency for…heart ❤
I again was taken in emergency for heart problem ,on the 24 th of January, again for the 5tth time was kept in overnight, hadbeen there since early morning ,was not offered any water or any food the whole time ,until the following morning,,?I could see very clearly the problems, the staff don't have time to show any empathy, and look stressed, its like speed dating , one almost feels a unfortunately I did not get the heart ultra sound scan that I was supposed to have , so have to return on Saturday., so I sat in the corridor till 4 o clock as I could not leave without my prescription, which was exactly the same as I had been taking, no difference ,talk about a sticking plaster,Most of the nursing staff were a delight, particularly (John) who was very helpful to all the patients,I could observe very easily why patients are left to get on with it ,the structure is abysmal,I have known this hospital since my twentys and sad to see it fall down on patient care ,as the staff are too overwhelmed to do that, so I feel for them very much.best regards and thank you for the help that I did recieve .
I do hope that this is accepted in a constructive manner. I was literally ordered out of my bed i won't mention the doctors name but I will remember it , nothing was inspected went away with the problem
Shambolic liaison system with W Middlesex
The C&W system of sending local Kensington patients to be seen at the West Middlesex Hospital is outrageous. For the elderly this is a 1 1/2 hour journey by tube and bus before you even get to the West Middlesex from the Kensington area . You then wait for up to an hour for your appointment spend, 15 minutes being seen and spend another hour and a half travelling back home to Kensington. All this because the Chelsea and Westminster is supposed to be in overall charge of the West Middlesex, a badly-run hospital,on the outskirts of London. Absolutely outrageous that they make patients, often sick, travel to appointments . Apart from this the West Middlesex is not nearly to such a high standard as the Chelsea and Westminster. During a routine operation last year I came away with sepsis from the West Middlesex. I spent a week in intensive care at the Chelsea and Westminster as a result. Absolutely shambolic system with no care for the patient merely to satisfy the bureaucrats who now run the NHS for their own satisfaction..
A&E Dept
A&E Dept - Whilst it was unfortunate enough to need to use A&E , i was amazed that in the space of 4.5 hours this week i was provided with ECG, heart scan, heart xray, 2 blood tests and a CT Scan .
The doctors and nurses gave an exceptional level of service .
Thank you.
Unable to contact PALS
Administrative side is failing. PALS never answers their phone nor they return calls after leaving a message.
I have faith in one doctor here
I have faith in one doctor here. Dr William Kellerher. He has saved my life, after a mistake. He’s the most caring and helpful doctor here, and he only works part time.
I have been at this hospital for 20 years. I have seen it provide great care, to terrible care. The nurses should run the whole place and have an Ai doctor programmed with all the knowledge, with Dr Kelleher in charge.
My health is much worse than when I first went through the door.
Also, for the life of me, how Gazzard has his name on a ward, I have no clue!
Weight…. 95kg to 165kg. Lack of care by psychiatrists. Discharged without being informed. ( I learn by accident). They missed complex PTSD, and told me I had 4 personality disorders.
My mental health suffered the most. I am not dependent on Opiates, and I wasn’t before.
I have a court care pending for a major problem I cannot discuss here.
From the most prestigious hospital in the country, to one of the very worst, and now with Guys and St Thomas’ in charge, it’s not going to get any better.
Great service
Great service, fast and very friendly members of staff.
Surgery was performed by Dr George Stephen Bethell and he was very clear in explaining what will happen, very calm, present and polite. Surgery went well and recovery process is smooth.
There is great team of professionals in Chelsea and Westminster hospital. Thank You
Terrible experience after visiting the…
Terrible experience after visiting the department. The “system” was down when we arrived. We waited over three hours for triage as we were missed off the “system” Patients attending after us were being seen. My partner went and asked what was happening and told he has been missed so was seeing the Doctor soon without triage. We waited a further 1 1/2 hours . When we went and asked for a second time the receptionist’s were rude and unhelpful. I asked the front receptionist to stop shouting at me. I asked for her name and she flatly refused to provide her name (no name badge of course). One of the admin staff sat behind reception came forward and raised her voice at me and told me I seemed to have a problem with people shouting. I do especially if they are working for the NHS. I was asked to contact PALS who were closed. PALS ask patients to speak to a Manager but the reception staff said this isn’t an option. No way would I recommend anybody visiting this dept and I will be following up with a formal complaint. Total shambles with rude and unprofessional staff in reception.
Compassionless and Negligent Baby Loss…
Compassionless and Negligent Baby Loss Care
I chose Chelsea and Westminster for my maternity care and initially had a positive midwifery experience. However, when my baby died, the care I received was terrible. If I had known how unsupported I would be in such a devastating situation, I would have chosen another hospital. I’m sharing my experience in the hope that no other woman will go through what I did.
At nearly 13 weeks pregnant, I attended the hospital for my scan. The sonographer called in a colleague, then told us the baby was measuring 10 weeks and 2 days. We initially thought she was saying the baby had been dated wrongly. Then she said there was no heartbeat. I asked if there was any chance of a mistake — I’d had two previous healthy scans — but was told no. I was given a leaflet and tissues, but no explanation or support. I only realised I’d had a missed miscarriage after overhearing the sonographer on the phone. We were sent home in shock, told another department would call.
The next day we went to the Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU). I sat in tears in the waiting room for over an hour, surrounded by other patients, including a woman with a young baby. My partner asked for help, but staff were indifferent. Eventually, we were taken to a private room. I was told I needed urgent surgery and asked about our preferences for our baby's remains. We were also offered cytogenetic testing, which we agreed to and paid for.
I later attended for surgery, having completed electronic consent forms and elected private cremation for our baby. When we arrived at the Day Centre, my partner was told he couldn't be with me (which I later found out was due to building work) — with no compassion or regard for our situation. I was left alone, visibly distressed. Another patient tried to comfort me, but staff showed little awareness or care.
I was placed in a curtained-off area with chairs, not a proper bay (dressings were stored there and a staff member’s belongings). I felt incredibly vulnerable without privacy. Staff seemed unaware of what surgery I was having or which medications I needed. I asked six different staff members about misoprostol and anti-D. No one seemed to know. I had to show them my patient leaflet. I was distressed and alone, without an advocate.
Only the anaesthetist showed any real kindness. When I finally saw the surgeon, he rushed through the consent process and only discussed our baby's remains. He filled out a new consent form — incorrectly. I was too upset to notice, and this error meant our wishes may not have been followed. We had to chase this through multiple calls and emails to both PALS and the EPU — none of which were answered.
Before surgery, I was told I would be placed on a maternity ward when I woke up — which, after losing a baby, was deeply upsetting. Thankfully, I wasn’t. I was discharged later that day, with no follow-up plan.
Within 24 hours I had severe pelvic pain and later heavy bleeding. I contacted the EPU and was told to wait and see. After further bleeding and calling again, they agreed to scan me. I was told I had retained products of conception. I was offered three options — more surgery , medication, or waiting ). All had further complications risks so I was told to wait three more weeks. I felt completely unsupported.
Due to the poor care I had received, I sought a private second opinion. I was told I needed urgent surgery and paid to have this done. The removed tissue was necrotic — I was told I was lucky not to have developed sepsis, which is life threatening.
At no point was I offered psychological support for my baby loss or the trauma that followed. We made repeated attempts to clarify the mishandled consent form. The only real compassion came from the hospital's chaplaincy team, for which we are deeply grateful.
Nine months on, I am still undergoing treatment and investigations. I wonder how much of this could have been avoided with better care from the outset.
I strongly advise other women to seek maternity care elsewhere. I will never return to this hospital.
fantastic staff terrible management systems
fantastic staff - abysmal systems management. Getting a patient who is fit for discharge actually out of the hospital is a kafkaesque nightmare. result: patients blocking beds for literally days on end. the worst discharge system I have encountered.
I cannot praise Chelsea and Westminster…
I cannot praise Chelsea and Westminster Hospital enough for the exceptional care I received. Under the outstanding leadership of Dr. Jane Norman and her surgical team, the treatment I received was world-class—delivered with skill, compassion, and professionalism.
My surgeon explained everything with clarity, patience, and reassurance, which gave me complete confidence throughout the process. The teamwork between the surgeons, nurses, and wider hospital staff was seamless and inspiring to witness.
Every member of the hospital team showed genuine kindness and attention to detail, which made an enormous difference to my comfort and recovery. The hospital itself is superbly run: spotlessly clean, modern, and committed to the very highest standards of care.
A special thanks also to Radio Chelsea and Westminster, whose wonderful programs bring comfort, positivity, and lift the spirits of patients during their stay.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital truly represents the best of healthcare. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been treated here and I am deeply grateful to Dr. Jane Norman, his team, and everyone who made my experience so positive.
⚠️ Warning about Midwife
⚠️ Warning about Midwife Gynecology Ward ⚠️
I want to issue a serious warning regarding this hospital and its gynecology ward. My female colleague experienced an assault during an examination carried out by the midwife.
After she touched my colleague's private parts while placing the catheter, she exposed her own genitals in her face. She was wearing no underwear beneath her dress and spread her legs so widely that the details of her private parts were clearly visible.
She later admitted to treating patients without underwear, claiming it was because her clothing had become wet while cycling in the rain. Regardless of her explanation, this conduct was grossly unprofessional, deeply disturbing, and utterly unacceptable in a medical setting.
We have submitted detailed complaints to the police, the medical ombudsman, and other relevant authorities. Investigations are ongoing, and the distress caused by this incident continues to affect us.
For your safety, I strongly advise that anyone who may have to deal with this individual request a chaperone immediately, as we do not know if she is still employed at this hospital. Please exercise extreme caution when attending the gynecology ward.
No wife, sister, or daughter should ever be left alone with this predator or placed in a position where they could be touched by her.
I had the best experience in the AEC
I had the best experience in the AEC. From the receptionist who put my wristband on, as I was so out of breathe and had to sit down. To the doctor who chased me up to attend the clinic on more than one occasion and was my advocate for my blood transfusion, when my results were low. He was claim, patient and professional.
Ward Manager Private Patients-Warning
Shadi, a ward manager for private patients at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, also runs a private injectables business from a rented room on Harley Street. She has allegedly approached female patients at the hospital offering cosmetic treatments outside of her NHS role.
Please do not use her services.
My friend received treatment from Shadi and suffered a severe facial infection. Following this, Shadi and her solicitors harassed and threatened my friend in an effort to silence her.
This has been reported to the police and to her NHS employer, and investigations are now underway.
I’m sharing this as a warning to others—your health and safety may be at risk. Please stay away from her private injectable services.
Terrible hospital for maternity care
Terrible hospital for maternity care. If Eleanor is your midwife whilst staying on the ward ask for someone else so your concerns are taken seriously and addressed properly. Whilst an inpatient on watch for possibly going into labour before 24 weeks I was told to go and buy my own liquid iron from a pharmacy instead of them prescribing it and my mental health concerns were basically ignored, I was advised to go and get some air and go for a walk. My partner spoke to the the midwives three times to try and get me help and the mental health midwife wasn't interested. I discharged myself to seek help elsewhere.
My daughter recently had a procedure on…
My daughter recently had a procedure on Saturn ward. Staff were very friendly, very caring and very considerate. The ward run like clock work, it was clean, organised and everyone knew what they were doing and where they should be. We waited no longer than half an hour for her surgery slot and she was 3rd on the list. Super super speedy and efficient! Could not recommend this hospital enough. I am devastated it’s 40mins away from us otherwise this would be my new hospital! Thank you again for looking after my daughter. After reading some of these reviews I think people need to go to Hillingdon hospital like I have too everytime! That hospital is awful they’ll have something to moan about then!
