I turned up with my dog how was in a lot of pain
The receptionist completed relevant checks and asked me to return at 11.45
My dog was seen by a lovely lady and had some treatment
Overall experience was very good and will definitely return if needed
Thanks to everyone who helped us ❤️

The attitude of the receptionist

The attitude of the receptionist, today, regarding our sick elderly cat, was just a ‘couldn’t care less’ kind!
I was gobsmacked! Refused to fit the cat in, later in the morning or afternoon. What kind of emergency service is this?
No, unacceptable, and with previous issues taken into account, we opted to sack them and change to VetsAtHome. End of!

Long Stratton branch

Long Stratton branch.

Took my very young puppy for a spay she was tiny. I forgot my card to pay (they’d sent me invoice in the past too even though they denied this ever happened) and they argued with me about it which is fine if that’s how they want to behave (have never been in debt with them over 4 pets!) HOWEVER the nurse was holding my puppy outside while all this happened after a 6 month puppy had gone through an operation- they could’ve let me take her home quickly they could’ve kept her in comfort they could’ve let me put her in the car to make comfortable and warm, they could’ve brought her outside after they had their precious payment. They did none of this. Clearly they wanted her out and clearly they had no idea how uncaring that was. Horrendous experience and I wish I’d never have left any of my pets in their care.
I swiftly left this practise and my new practise in hethersett is wonderfully kind when my elderly cat was put to sleep this vets even said ‘don’t worry about paying now pay us when you’re ready’ I’m sure if this had of been Chapelfield they’d have told me to stop crying and get on with paying them first.

Trust the reviews here. I don’t see much positive said about them on local community groups either. I wouldn’t touch them with someone else’s barge pole.

We took our beloved cat here as she had…

We took our beloved cat here as she had been unwell for several days, not eating, very lethargic and so on.
The vet took her temperature using a rectoral thermometer which caused an immense amount of distress to our cat the likes of which we had never seen. (She has had temperature checks previously using the same method during check ups with no issues).
After the examination it was suggested we have blood tests but it could nor be done at the time due to her being so wild and obviously in pain after the vet using the rectoral thermometer.
Our cat was then prescribed 2 drugs, one to improve her appetite and one to reduce her high temperature.
We were unhappy with the way the whole examination went so we changed vets and got a 2nd opinion.
It transpired our cat had an infection in her anal sac which was completely missed at Chapelfield Vets in Norwich despite the obvious intense pain caused by the vet inserting the thermometer.
We are absolutely disgusted and will be taking our complaint further.

***AVOID WYMONDHAM CHAPELFIELD***

***AVOID WYMONDHAM CHAPELFIELD***

I have been registered with Chapelfield for 14 years and sadly my cat who ended up in intensive care having fallen septic sadly passed away.

This is no thanks to this incompetent establishment who on a Saturday employs a receptionist who is rude , obnoxious and dismissive. She tried to turn us away and say they were fully booked at 9am! I was told it was her “first saturday” and “she should have had someone with her”.

Whilst I was there , I saw another pet owner who was registered there who brought her sick dog in (the dog was struggling to walk). They refused to see her but rather than be professional they elected to berate her when she left saying she had a “lower level of understanding”. I then heard how one of the vet nurses gets anxiety on a Saturday .

As a pet owner please think about your choices . Do you want to experience this like I had to when your pet is needing urgent care.

I would never ever return there . They should be investigated as clearly there is something amiss there .

I was over prescribed antibiotics for…

I was over prescribed antibiotics for my dog ahead of an amputation. Three hundred quid in advance, the operation was booked for a few days later, so why a month of antibiotics? Would the antibiotics have been sufficient to help her keep her leg? I am supposed to be getting a refund, but if they mess me about, I will get a t shirt printed up.

I have used the Chapelfield vetenery…

I have used the Chapelfield vetenery group for over 40 years. In that time I have always thought that they put my pets wellbeing first. This includes refusing to operate on my Border Collie to amputate a leg, because it wasn't in my pets best interest. This was in the past. About 4 years ago I took another Border Collie who was 11 years old and who in retrospect was at end of life with excessive bleeding from her virgina. The vet suggested a hysterectomy, an expensive procedure and in my opinion totally inappropriate for an old girl. She was basically dieing and should have been put down then. In 2018 this group was taken over by IVC, a giant corporation and I feel this has resulted in a cultural change at this practice. I no longer trust their opinions, as I feel there is pressure to maximize their income, rather than prioitise my pets wellbeing. I would like to add that I feel individual personal mean well, but are under pressure from above.

Avoid the city branch

I took my poorly cat into the Norwich branch and the vet hardly checked him just said she didn't know what was wrong with him so gave him an antibiotic injection and steroid injection to hopefully help!!
Took him to the Costessey branch the following week where he was diagnosed as having a large mass in his stomach and was so poorly I had to have him put to sleep.
Costessey are lovely but I'll never go to the city branch ever again

They will kill your pet!!!!

If one is or want to use Chapelfeild Vet in Norwich, dont!!!
Terrible, I had to report them back in December 2023, and they are being investigated.
If you want your pet to stay alive don't take it to Chapelfeild vet in Norwich.
1. They have no idea what they are doing
2. They dont make customers aware of charges as per UK law
3. They wrongly diagnose
4. They put small kittens on medication that they dont require
5. They charge for follow up appointment
6. They lie about charges
7. They can cause harm to your pet and then tell you they dont have CCTV at the back
8. They will offer free of charge blood test and then chase you for money, please be aware they dont record their calls
9. They take advantage on vulnerable customers
Absolutely the worst vet ever.

not thoroughly diagnosed, cat died

Was lead to believe there's nothing wrong with my cat as he in fact developed severe hcm&pulmonary edema over the year and ultimately died from heart&kidney failure. The bloodwork didn't show the issue nor my very frequent visits.

The clinic is otherwise not too problematic or overpriced I guess.... nurturing was fine, though for complications better head to a pet hospital
