Utterly horrible service
Utterly horrible service. I had an appointment, drove 200 miles to make sure I would be there for it, and then CenturyLink canceled it saying my problem was fixed. But it wasn't. And they won't reschedule at any time convenient for me.
I live in a rural area!
I live in a rural area!! The only option for a phone is a land line. What a joke!!! I am so unimpressed that I'd rather drive everyday to check my cell phone in a cell service area. So sad!!! I do not have many options!! But CenturyLink has really dropped the ball & sold out to "Off Shore America!" What a load!!! 2 weeks without land line phone service!! But still have to pay for total crap!!! What's wrong with that?? You tell me???
Don't deserve 1 star
This last year..maybe 2...I stopped keeping track, has been a nightmare with this POS "company" i.e. scam.
Our internet would cut out dozens of times every hour and like I said, we stopped counting how many times it would be completly out for days at a time. We would call and 'schedule' someone to come out.
At one point last year we had one guy pull up in front of our house, sit there for a bit and drive away. Called and said it was a "broken underground wire and got it fixed." Straight out lie--he didn't dig anywhere (small close-nit neighborhood has its perks).
Called again 9 months later because I had enough. Took TWO hours to get a tech scheduled because, "ma'am you still have an open ticket from 9 months ago that was never resolved and I can't schedule a new one until 'they' take it off." I effing lost it.
The number of times I have told customer service they are running a scam--not like they care--is laughable. They will have no problem taking your money but will not deliver their service. All they do is try to get you to upgrade. B.please--you can't give us what you claim we're paying for, why in.the.hell(!) Would we pay more money?! We were supposed to get 12(yes 1-2) mpbs.....we got 8 at best....LESS than 1 for upload speed....on a good day.
Two additional times we have called in the last 6 months. Each time they say it's a wiring issue in a box down the street, or some wiring issue on their end.
The absolute last straw was when they told my husband that we needed to pay for a service plan($20/mo) 'or you could be charged up to $100 for our tech to come out'. We 'could cancel it right after the tech comes out and only be billed the one-time'. So he did that. Our next bill....$40 higher. The itemized bill said 'equipment rental fees', customer service said it was 'home wire protection'. Asked him to make it right and only have the additional $20 on the bill. After I stopped him from trying to upgrade us again, I told him that if he couldn't make it right, we would pay the bill, but it would be our last. He said, "ok I will start your disconnection now."
I hung up, called Mediacom on the day before Thanksgiving, they had a tech out the day after Thanksgiving and he was in/out in less than a hour!
We have a plan that gets us 350+mpbs (8 before) and 80+mpbs(<1 before) upload speeds for less $/month than what we were paying with this SCAM "company". Doesn't seem right, does it? We asked if they use a different system (we are not I.T people) and the guy giggled and said, "no ma'am you just have had junk service".
Don't let our straight up nightmare experience be yours if you have the choice. They will screw you.
All around garbage service
Centurylink is the only service in my area and it’s absolute garbage service. I can’t work from home or do anything with more than 1 device on my internet at a time. The customer service hours are atrocious being Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and that’s it. They don’t even care enough to get better service or customer service to the people using their product. The moment faster service becomes available their crap is being canceled and the equipment is going in the trash where it belongs
Rip off
I cancelled my service 1 week into the monthly billing cycle and they billed me for the whole month eventhough I only used it for 1 week. Is this even legal?
Centurylink keeps this up, they'll go bankrupt soon. It is expensive for a broadband speed. Other providers give faster speed at lower price. And they wonder why customers are leaving.
The worst customer experience ever!
The worst customer experience I have ever witnessed! Wish I could have left zero stars!
Moved into a new to me home on 11/22/24 and scheduled new service for that day. Scheduled the appointment on 11/08/24. Confirmed the appointment on 11/12/24.
No one showed up on 11/22/24, no phone call, no email, no nothing. Called and they said Monday, 11/25/24. No show on 11/25/24 either with no communication.
Called again, and they promised Tuesday, 11/26/24…same result. Called an then they promised Wednesday, 11/27/24, @8:00 AM…
No show @8:00 AM. No phone call, nothing. Called them and now they are saying 12/02/24. SMDH.
And, each time I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told they were in a meeting and they would call me back…nothing.
If there was another provider I would use them. Thinking about Starlink.
Terrible technician scheduling algorithm
Internet modem keeps crashing and I keep rebooting. Finally crashed and couldn't be rebooted. Made a service appointment and was told that I had to be there waiting from 8am to 5 pm. Made arrangements to take a personal day from work. Late in the morning I got a text saying technician would be arriving between 1:15 and 5:15. I could have worked for half a day! 5:15 came and went with no technician. Called cutomer service and was told that it might be as late as 7:00 pm before the technician came. I did not have to take a whole day off work. This is the worst scheduling cluster I have ever experienced. I was not told that this appointment could possibly stretch into me waiting for 11 hours.
One of the worst internet providers…
One of the worst internet providers that probably exist, I live in a rural area so it’s all I can get access to, if another provider was an option I would change to that. They decided to turn my internet off for 3 days if not more at this point because of an ‘outage’. This is most likely due to a storm we had but there was no internet issues during the storm and even after, this outage appeared 2/3 days after the storm! So I lose internet access which is already miserable to use to then when I get it again will just be as miserable with no difference. I hate century link as a provider it is the worst internet provider and unfortunately it is my only option, if you have more options, no matter what it is, go with that.
I cancelled my service but they…
I cancelled my service but they charged the next billing cycle.
this internet is horrible.should be…
this internet is horrible.should be illegal to sell this to people, centurylink is the worse internet prover ever!!!! to slow, disconnects, for as bad as they are they should be shut down and never open back up.
They have been trash for years but want…
They have been trash for years but want us to move to their new trash Quantum Fiber. As of yesterday because I haven't made the switch they have disabled my wifi. I can no longer make phone calls because of it. the new service doesn't even come with free wifi thay charge $15 a month extra for it.
It's the worst company ever to exist
It's the worst company ever to exist. Nefarious. Deplorable customer service. They force customers to switch to Quantum and will flat-out cancel your service if you don't. But, I guarantee that they will continue to bill you! Stay far away from this nefarious company.
They dropped my service as a paying…
They dropped my service as a paying customer. They just stopped service. Tried Chat and phone calls to customer service. You can't reach anyone on any customer service number. They cancel you and try to bully you into going with Quantum Fiber. But they STILL send me bills after non service since June. It's now November! I went with a different carrier and have no problems. CenturyLink is nightmare!
Horrible
Horrible. Still made me pay even though i NEVER installed it, because I do not have the correct phone lines to connect it to. my landlord took it out and covered it with a solid plate. The tech called and said "well, idk what to tell you, it won't work for you then, you'll have to get a electrician out to you. So I returned the box, then they sent me a bill. And 4 days later I recurve ANOTHER box at my door. Sat on the phone with customer service for an hour and a half, yet they still charged me. What an awful experience. I will say the customer service gal at the end was very kind and helpful as it wasn't her fault for my frustration over the phone she handled herself well and remained calm. Still, I do not recommend. Now, I have to take more time out of my day after sitting on the phone for hours and go to the ups store to return yet another package.
I have never in my 28 years on this…
I have never in my 28 years on this earth had wifi service as slow and unreliable as I have with CenturyLink. My phone hotspot is, without even exaggerating, at LEAST 10 times faster. And they are the most overpriced internet company there is.
Crooks
Crooks! Stay away from this company. I was with out WiFi for 6 month, many calls and visits to my home and they could never resolve it. I canceled service and they still charged my for 2 months after. I run my own business and am fair and provide service. This company should learn this.
If I could give a -4 I would
If I could give a -4 I would.
What a load of crap. You can expect to sit on hold for minimum of 25 minutes before your call is answered by a human then you can expect them to be completely unhelpful and refuse, REFUSE... to transfer you to a supervisor when you ask 4 times. The lesson I learned from this experience is ... LIE. if a family member has passed and you want to keep that number that you have used for 40 years LIE. don't tell them get a person to stand in as your DEAD loved one. Century Link is completely incapable to transfer number to new address. Because people never die and then family members need to move because of it, Bull dink.
Worst customer service
Worst customer service! My modem went out and they can get me one in a week! Proprietary modems, cannot buy one off the shelf like you can with Comcast. You can only get one from them. They will not even expedite one. I spent 8 hours trying to get it resolved. I could do their job for them with as many times as I repeated myself. I got my remote from Comcast the same day I ordered it. I have outside issues they need to resolve, and they are coming 2 days after we tried to set it up. Goodbye Centurylink. I need better results than the 8 hours I will never get back.
CenturyLink customer service sucks
CenturyLink customer service sucks. I have repeatedly tried to help my 85 year old parents with what should be a simple issue - getting the ringtones to go from 3 to 6 before going to voicemail. I was on hold for 6 hours before getting thru. Then when my dad tried to cancel in September of 2024, he put a note in with his payment to cancel the account, but CenturyLink reported to me today, that the only way to cancel is online (parents don't have internet) or by phone (how many 85 year olds are going to be able to navigate the convoluted phone system only to be on hold for an eternity? They have not used the phone since July, yet keep getting billed with no reasonable way to cancel. This company is the worst utility I have had to deal with ever in the past 40 years. they wont even meet me half way on coming up with a deduction or payment plan (the payment plan in our case is to pay the past due amount of $280 or full amount of $400. not much of a plan when you are living on social security.
To all of the CenturyLink management team that do not give two shits about this, you can go to hell!
