Disappointed Stay for husband's 60th birthday.

We stayed in Room 605 which is on the 6th floor and a Signature room on the 18th February.
This was for the 1 night to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday.
Unfortunately, we had a few dead moths on top of our bed linen when the staff had done their turn-down service.
We woke up in the middle of the night to find that that room was stuffy so decided to use the keypad on the wall to put the air conditioning on to cool the room but nothing.
The keypad had obviously been isolated up in the ceiling void and along with the air conditioning unit.
Subsequently, the only means to cool the room was to open up the patio door to the balcony and this had to remain open all night.
There was a constant noise of the vehicles on the M4 plus to add to this was the large flag flapping in the wind!!
We didn’t sleep at all well and this should have been a relaxing experience.
This was reported on check out and the young girl informed us that the issue was being logged but at no point did she apologise:(
I have informed the Celtic Manor complaints by e-mail and have to wait 7 days for a response.
You do have to drive to the hotel and the parking charges are £20 for an overnight stay which is quite frankly a rip off.
Very disappointed.

Appalling customer service

Appalling experience of failures in customer service. My family and I stayed for one night on 2nd February. Owing to a machine issue, our cards kept failing for a final round of drinks and this was eventually charged to our room. But on check out we found all transactions had gone through and the same round had been charged 5 times! Reception assured us these would be reversed or refunded. Now, two weeks later, they have twice told us it would be refunded and it has not; they kept a payment even after we were told we would not be charged due to the inconvenience. My mother in law has repeatedly called - getting through to anyone is next to impossible - and been promised call backs that never come. This trip was a Christmas present to each of us for us all to have a lovely trip as a family. Two weeks on we're still out of pocket for one round of drinks charged 5x and every promise of action has not been kept.

Cancelled because of COVID positive and still charged £40 fee for restaurant booking

I booked the Rafters restaurant on New Year’s Day for a special occasion but sadly tested positive for COVID. I wasn’t poorly but didn’t want to attend and spread the virus so cancelled.
Sadly I was still charged a cancellation of £40 and even though I have contacted the correct department on 3 occasions and have been advised that reservations would contact me to discuss refund they still haven’t bothered. Not really the customer service that you would expect very disappointing.

Booked an offer for 2 rooms next to each other. We arrived at 10 am to use the activities . We requested early check-in Our rooms were alocated to us at 3pm.
We were not together as requested, we were on different floors, we couldn't leave our 6 year old go to the families room to be with the other children. Our room was dirty, we have photos which we would like to send but no email available to send. We were told 7 days before our visit we could book swimming, when we tried none available. We could only book next morning at 9. That gave us no time at all swimming to go for breakfast before 10.30. when we arrived to the breakfast room at 10.15 there was nothing left, no orange juice no coffee beans no white bread. I can go on and on. It's an expensive place with a 5 star rating. We never received that service

Terrible service

Terrible service. I had a bill for £194 under my door in the morning for food I did not have, so did my mum. There were someone else's clothes in the wardrobe in my sisters room and a pair of trousers under the bed. My mum's disabled access room did not have a walk in shower. TV in my mum and in my sister's room did not work and despite several requests was not attended to. Worst of all, my sister in law had £160 taken from her account without explanation as to what it was for. I have called several times, so has my sister and my sister in law, to no avail. Stay somewhere else. St David's in Cardiff is much better

Xmas dinner was shocking was pushed into a corner having paid 300 pounds in advance, people took out cutlery from our table, people bumping into our chairs had to leave our lunch as was impossible to eat our food comfortably.
Service was terrible catering for large tables restaurants over crowded, refusing to respond to my complaint

Awful spa experience

Resort is wonderful
reason for one star xmas eve spoilt by extremely rude massage therapist at forum spa who I’m sure is not qualified as had to tell her what to do.
Been a loyal customer at forum spa for over 10 years.
Has definitely put me off now.

Rip Off

Went for a work Christmas party. There were around 300 people in the same room, no signposts of where to go. Only 2 Christmas trees and about 10 paper snow flake decorations. It didnt feel very christmassey. First issue is even when you pay £55 for an event they then make you pay for parking on top. There were only 5 bar staff and the 'bar' was literally shelves with bottles on. The staff didn't know what they were doing and were spilling alcohol all over the bar while filling up plastic shot glasses. All the glasses were plastic and scuffed. I don't drink alcohol and there were only 3 soft drink options, Pepsi, Lemonade and j20. I got 2 bottles of j20 which cost £9.50. The bar was extortionately expensive with a bottle of prosecco costing £40. It was advertised as having entertainment but that only lasted 2 hours and then they just had very loud 90's music and very few Christmas songs after that. The queue for the food was long and by the time you got around and sat down to the table it was cold. The selection was also limited. Apart from being expensive they wouldn't accept any cash. I only brought cash to limit how much I spent so it was a massive inconvenience for me, if my friends hadn't been there I would have been stuck. Everything stopped at midnight despite being advertised until 12.30 I would have expected it to have lasted a lot longer considering how much it cost. I won't go back there, it's very over priced and the carpet desperately needed a good vacuum.

Where to start black tie disaster

Where to start. We stayed in the main hotel back In July for my wife's graduation and was very underwhelmed then. Poor standard rooms ( very dated ) absolutely none of the staff knew any directions to the rafters resturaunt which made us late for our meal. Room service came wrong on two occasions we ordered (Wrong drinks and food.). I did not complain as I am not one of life's complainers and we already had the black tie event booked for Saturday 9th December with an overnight stay in the Manor House. Which brings me to last Saturday. As we entered the Manor House the place smelt awful. Strong smell of damp in the main entrance. Checked into room 302. Again it stank of damp as did most of the Manor house ( like I said I don't like to complain so said nothing ) went to the sports cellar bar for a few pre black tie drinks where there was 1 young lad serving the 26 people that were in there and he would often dissappear for 20 minutes. He told us he was running another 2 bars at the same time. Served Guinness in bierre morreti flute style glasses. No training it seems. Back to room to get ready. Room was clean to be fair apart from smelling nasty. Poor shower flow ( although was better in the morning ). We headed down to the canarfan black tie event after dodging 4 buckets placed in the middle of walkways with absolutely no health and safety measures put in place ( no signs, barriers etc ) . We got a little lost and again no staff could even point us in the right direction. Eventually got there. 5 bar staff on the bar seemed plenty but they were absolutely useless. Even admitting that most of them hadn't used the tills so didn't know where the items were to select. There was no cider on tap the girl told me they were out of cider so for the cider drinkers, that annoyed them a lot. They did have Bulmer in bottles but ran out fairly quick. I drank corona which again ran out after 3 hours. Food was supposed to be served at 7pm we were drip fed starters from 20:15 then mains arriving around 21:40 with dessert coming at 22:30. The food was all drip fed where our table could t eat all together but staggered. Food was not good at all 1 star I'd give it. Band was good. We were so fed up by then we decided to go to bed at 23:50. Only to have possibly the worst nights sleep ever. We could here a loud noise all night like water running. Kept us tossing and turning all night. On inspection in the morning when I opened the curtains I was greeted by scaffold ( not a major issue ) but it was filthy, old sodden insulation all over it. Rubble and materials just left in plain site. On closer inspection I noticed that the guttering had been disconnected which was pouring heaps of water from the roof onto the Scaffold boards ( this was what kept us up all night ). Roof contractors clearly have no regard for the hotel guests it seems. The breakfast was very nice. All of this is totally unacceptable from a supposed 5 star hotel. We were not informed that the place had leaks everywhere and and Scaffold was outside our room etc yet all this for £185 a night. Rip off. Also £70 a head for me and my wife which was just a shambles. I request that I have a full re fund for this and contact from yourselves ASAP. This is my first ever complaint and I am 39. It should be my second ( 1st was my last stay back in July with celtic manor). I've stayed in many many hotels but this was just awful on both occasions. I have taken pictures of the buckets and sodden carpets etc and will be reporting all my findings to Building Safety Regulator regarding the health and safety issues.

Was at a Black Tie event at the Celtic Manor which was awful. They had too many events on at once.
The food was -5star, we waited too long, then when it came it was very poor cooked and we were supposed to have tea/coffee and we are still waiting! Certainly not good value for money and won't come next year. Staff disappeared once the band came on.

Rooms not 5*

Just arrived at Celtic Manor and checked into our room. Very disappointed as the room (810) is dated, dirty rings around the plug holes (bath and sink) NOT 5*! It’s my husband 40th birthday and feel this has put a negative spin on his day.

Overcharged and no contact back from hotel despite several attempts

We visited the celtic manor domes for food and drink end of November. The staff who served us in the dome could not fault them. Service was excellent. We gave them quite a large tip in cash due to the service and food, drinks being so good.

We went to pay the bill which we had already paid £60.00 deposit to and explained that we had paid the waiter a cash tip and to make sure no other tip was added to the bill. We were told it hadn't been so paid the bill and left.

We then discovered that the deposit was not taken off the original bill and we were also charged a discretionary tip which we did not agree to. I have emailed the hotel several times abd sent them tweets but no one is contacting me.

This has put me off going back to the celtic manor and will not be recommending any friends or family to go there.

If you do go there make sure you are not charged "discretionary tip" if you don't want to give one and make sure your bill is correct.

Fantastic Bar Staff

I attended the Celtic Manor on the evening of 24/11/23 with some colleagues for the White Christmas event. I had the vegetarian option & was disappointed with my main meal which had very salty gravy already all over it when it arrived. The meal was returned and replaced in quick time however, the gravy looked suspiciously like the meat gravy on my colleague’s dinner so I didn’t eat it. Thankfully this didn’t spoil the evening, the atmosphere was fantastic and we were lucky to have 2 of the best bar staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. @celticmanornewport your bar tenders Connie-May & Toby Baker are an absolute asset to your company. They both ensured that our expectations were exceeded & provided a friendly professional service to my colleagues and I.

Avoid, ripping off loyal customers

I am in Newport Several times a year and have used one of the Celtic manor hotels most visits. I had a booking for the weekend before last which cost £435. On the day I noticed I could book the same package for £200. I messaged the property about this and they never bothered to respond. Additionally as I had decided to stay somewhere else they have now charged my card £435, and still not bothered to answer my customer service enquiries. Avoid

Five star resort get's one star at best.

Upon arrival the staff were quite authoritative and albeit not unfriendly, there was an arrogance. I booked online as a guest and after being fleeced for a substantial amount of money for a buggy (£55.00) that wasn't able to go near the ball, making the distance a guestimate at best, I was at no point told the course was unplayable. The fairways would swallow the ball and even if you hit the middle you would be unable to locate and find it and even around the greens this was the case. Even though the greens themselves were in good condition. I didn't ask for a refund even though I couldn't play every hole. Extremely disappointed and will not return. I suspect it will be OK in the summer but I'll never know. lastly, I would say they owe me at least 7 Pro V 1's.

Appalling Customer Care after Accident

I had a fully body massage booked at the Spa. Whilst in the waiting area I accidently hit the hot water machine with my forearm and badly scolded the area. The masseuse let me run my arm under a cold tap for a few seconds and then began the treatment, no other first aid was offered and the accident was not reported. During the massage, she then rubbed oil into the area causing the burn to accelerate. The next morning I had severe blisters and was in a lot of pain. The accident wasn't reported at the time and I have since had to attend multiple hospital visits for treatment to my burn. I have reported the accident on two separate occasions to the hotel and am yet to receive any kind of acknowledgement or apology for my experience. There was no warning on the machine or anyway to differentiate between the hot and cold water, so this kind of thing could easily happen to other guests including small children!
