I am a 79 year old senior on a fixed income, I went in to have some crowns replaced. I have dental insurance and each time I had work done, I met with the office manager to make sure that the work was covered under my insurance plan. I paid my bills in full at the end of each visit.
Evidently, they were not checking on my eligibilty and 2 months after my last visit I received a bill for over $1300. When I went to complain, they said that the insurance company would not cover this procedure since it was on a tooth that had work done on it before. They did not submit the correct information the first time and I would have never had the work done. It was either fraud or neglience that allowed this to happen.
They refused to talk to me about the problem that they created. Their only solution was to suggest a loan at loan shark rates. They have failed to provide me with their agent for service so I could pursue the matter legally. At this rate, I might very well end up on food stamps.
