Terrible service.
I had an preorder cd that never arrived.
Their response basically was "sorry, it may or may not arrive. The US postal service is terrible and you have to wait and see if they send it back to us." I don't know what service they use, but I have received stuff off ebay in a few days. Their denial of responsibility is absolute abhorrent, will never use them again

Have used CDJapan 3 times now. Everytime they are better than the last. Have never had to wait more than 7 days for delivery, which when combined with their use of DHL is superb. My last order was for a pre-order set due for release in Japan on 1st May. It was delivered by DHL to my home in Melbourne by 3pm 1st May. You dont get any better than these guys.

I have been a customer for several years now and every time my experience has been first rate. I order classical cd’s and their prices and merchandise are 1st class. Their service is great and very fast. Even their proxy service is exceptional. Most of those cd’s are brand new and reasonably priced. I usually use FedEx Priority shipping and it is very fast to the US east coast. They always carefully pack the cd’s and I have never received anything damaged. In short, I highly recommend CdJapan for any serious collector.

Ordered 3 CDs back on January 4th. 3 days later, I notice one of the CDs is missing from my order. Received an email stating it was out of print. A week later I receive another email concerning one of the CDs, "Availability 3-4 weeks". I knew right then and there that I wasn't getting it. I was right, on February 7th I got another email, "Item unobtainable". Out of 3 CDs I only got one. Granted I was refunded and the stuff cancelled from my order is somewhat obscure but it really bothers me that they don't seem to keep up with suppliers much if at all. Can't say I have much interest buying from them again after this.

Just had my 6th order with them delivered and it was as safely packaged as always. The ordering process pages don't look super up to date, but it works.

They're our go-to place for Japanese magazines. Absolutely recommended, as far as my experience goes.

Most disappointed with their service! I pre-ordered the Beatles vinyl months ahead. There was no indication of the product being out of stock. But a day before release they emailed me asking to pay extra for proxy charges (3971 Yen)! The reason for pre-order is precisely to avoid paying proxy charges and guaranteed stock of product. There weren't any apology when I wrote to them. This is the second time they mismanaged my orders without an apology!! I've been an active customer for more that 20 years! Deeply disappointed!!!

Horrible, delivery took more than one month, never got any answer on Emails, wrong description on custom forms, had to pay a lot on top - never again!

I placed an order on 15/10/23 on the understanding that the item would be shipped within 1 - 5 days. When this did not happen, I emailed the company but no response. I emailed again a few days later byt still no response. I have now had to contact my credit card company as I suspect fraud. Avoid this company.

I used to be a regular buyer from CD japan . Most of the stuff I ordered wasn't mainstream but they were able to get it . Lately I have had two orders for them which haven't been completed due to their excuse that the supplier was unable to supply stock, even though in both cases they were pre orders and the supplier had stock. They have definitely gone off and I have asked for my money back. I will not use them again as they have become unreliable.

I have the same experience as the others have. The cd isn't in stock and they offered me full refund and then deleted my order...I have all in e-mail luckily. They communication is poor, lack of information...I'm still hoping they will refund me because it wasn't small amount of money 🥲 If anyone have experince how to get my money back please let me know!

I ordered a CD from CDJapan and it never arrived to my home address. I got stuck somewhere at a central postal location in The Netherlands. The cd was then sent back to Japan. CDJapan refused to refund my money after they received their cd back because I paid by creditcard they said. The best they could do was give me a voucher for the money I paid minus the costs they made earlier for sending the package to me before. This is rather lousy custome service and not according to European law.

CDJapan uses outside sellers who are not to be trusted. I live in Indiana and had eight CDs not sent.

Be careful if you’re choose to have VAT pre-paid for your package. CDJapan doesn’t mark the package with anything stating that the package is already pre-paid, they only send electronic date or whatever. I have had several packages that I needed to pay double VAT on now, and all that CDJapan can do is just give me some "points on my account" equaling the extra VAT I paid. I asked them to provide me a new receipt or order confirmation that included the VOEC number that they have, since the VOEC is needed to get my VAT nullified by the post office before picking it up. (VOEC is an e-commerce deal that Norway has with some companies to have the option to pre-pay all the import duty expenses etc). Overall just really bad customer service that doesn’t understand what you’re talking about most of the time. CDJapan is a really bad experience overall, where they’ll charge you more money but can’t give you any proper refund or help you out at all. First time writing a review about any company or anything at all, absolutely horrible to deal with.

CdJapan is great! Their packaging is good and they’re so efficient, I got my package within 7 days with registered airmail! That’s really cool cause I thought it’d take at least 3 weeks. And of course all products are legit. I’m so glad I found out this website!

The only contact I had was an email confirming the order (and a credit card charge at the same time). Item never sent, charge never reversed and never received a reply to any email I sent seeking an update. A complete scam

CDJapan never disappoints you. Anything you want, even rare items you will find it here. They have all ranges domestic and import ones in decent prices. The shipping packages they are using a thick and prevents damages during transit time. Thank you

I have used this website for years to import things from Japan! The price is good, you have good options for shipping method and I seem to only get hit with import taxes if it is something larger (such as a scale figure, when I order clothing it doesn't get hit~)

terrible customer service, havent shipped my items for 3 years due to COVID SAL shipping being down but are unwilling to combine my orders for EMS shipping

I've only ordered from CDJapan once now, but I will absolutely return to order more. The process of buying is smooth, and the shipping was quick and very much within the estimated shipping time of the product. The product was packaged well and was in an appropriately sized box for the item (a CD)
The product arrived in perfect condition, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Overall, I believe the website to be a very good option to purchase CDs and other items from, and as an overseas customer, it was definitely a very international buyer-friendly site. It was easy to track my order from the page, and I also enjoy the fact that with their wide array of items to purchase, they also offer a built-in proxy service which seems very helpful.
