Sofa purchase

Purchased a sofa from the shop located in the kingdom centre. Arrived with dimensions of area and Craig helped with everything. Delivery was fast and the colleagues were very good when it came to delivering the sofa. Would recommend

Charity that lies

Went into shop. Entered area looking like a shop. Was no sign saying no entry. 2 staff members run shouting saying shouldn't be in there. Left shop upset.

Made complaint hours later but staff rearranged location after incident then lied what happened. Avoid at all cost.

Fife council did check into it but there was no CCTV in that area.

So staff able to lie and get away with it.
They repeatedly ignored if the sign they put there after was there then my wife in a very bulky and wide wheel chair would not have been able to pass into the area. Also ignored a third customer who was there saw no sign.

In reply what was frustrating was there was no sign and lying aggressive staff. Not good for a charity around vulnerable people.

Your concerns were fully investigated, reviewed by our Board, and considered alongside an unannounced Environmental Health visit and an external audit carried out the day before your visit. Both confirmed that the area and controls were acceptable and that no further action was required.

We have responded to you directly through multiple channels and have explained that the area you entered is a restricted operational space. The items you wished to view are located within this area as and are reserved for referrals to people in need, rather than being available for general sale.

We understand that this was a frustrating experience for you. However, we are satisfied that the matter has been handled appropriately and now consider it concluded.

I telephoned regarding the measurements…

I telephoned regarding the measurements for a fridge freezer because the details differed from the manafacturer's website. I was keen to establish if the item was the same model or if someone could actually double check the measurement for me before I made the 30 minute journey to view it. I was just vaguely told to go with the manafacturer measurement even though it was unclear if the model was identical. I then asked which unit at the Kindom Shopping Centre the item was in and the member of staff could not advise me. There are two units listed for Castle Furniture on the Kindom Shopping Centre Website. The Staff member suggested I look up the postcode to see where disabled parking was best for the shop. There is no postcode or unit number detailed on the Castle Furniture Website for the Kingdom Shopping Centre shop and there are two units listed on the Kingdom Shopping Centre Site at opposite locations. Very frustrating. I just gave up the plan and ruled out even viewing the item!

This means our advisers do not always have physical access to items in-store and are not always able to independently verify measurements beyond those provided by the manufacturer. That said, we fully understand why you wanted confirmation before making a 30-minute journey, and we’re very sorry that we were unable to provide the reassurance you needed.

We also apologise for the confusion regarding our location at the Kingdom Shopping Centre. You are absolutely right that having two units listed without clear unit numbers or postcode information is unhelpful, particularly when accessibility and disabled parking are important considerations. This is something we are now reviewing to ensure clearer and more accurate store location details are available online.

We regret that this experience led you to rule out viewing the item altogether. Your feedback has highlighted areas where our communication and information can be improved, and we genuinely appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Shop in Glenrothes & Fantastic in the store and delivery team

I found the shop in Glenrothes. I met Craig in the store, who is a fantastic and professional salesman. They also have a delivery team, and they arrived this afternoon. He was very friendly and was patient.
We met Carlos, Daniel, and Canni for delivery. They are very professional and friendly in their team. They are all patient and delivered everything with care.

Wonderful team of professionals! Excellent service from initial query through to house clearance and cleaning of property. At a tricky time for the family, Castle took care of everything. Was donating two computer desks and an oval drop leaf table all in good condition.
guys turned up and before even entering the house started making excuses about how they would not be likely to take my donations due to having similar items already in stock.
If this is the case why even bother sending anyone just phone and say your not interested, unless your cherry picking for items you can sell at a higher price

We're sorry you felt disappointed with our collection service. We completely understand your frustration.

Our van crew always assess items on arrival because it's important we see the actual condition and style of furniture - photos and descriptions don't always tell the full story, and items can be completely different to what we expect. In this case, your desks were in good condition, but we'd genuinely had five desk collections pass through our quality checks just before your scheduled pickup. Unfortunately, the table had scratches that meant it didn't meet our quality standards for resale.

Our crew were being honest with you about the sudden influx of similar stock and our limited warehouse capacity. We need to be realistic about whether we can give every item the best chance of finding a new home, rather than collecting everything and having good furniture sit in storage.

We appreciate that it was frustrating to have the crew attend only to decline the items. In hindsight, we could have communicated this situation better, though the reality is we couldn't have known about the stock situation until your collection time arrived.

We're a charity working hard to divert furniture from landfill while supporting our community - we're definitely not cherry-picking for profit. Thank you for considering Castle Furniture for your donation.

Very hard working team

My Auntie died recently and I needed to have her house cleared. I decided on The Castle Furniture Project as I knew my Auntie would like her belongings to go to good use through charity. The whole process was handled with dignity and respect, from initial organising by Bill in the office, and then the hard work from the six person team headed by Lisa, Moira and Carlos. All the team were polite and helpful, asking questions where needed and worked virtually non stop. They also cleaned the house, kitchen, toilet, hoovered and washed woodwork. They were friendly and cheerful and obviously enjoy their work. They also cleared out a summerhouse and outside shed. Everything was cleared, from furniture to old paint pots. I’d definitely recommend them, and thank them for all their help at this difficult time.

For bric-a-brac items under £5, these purchases are typically recorded as donations to the charity, though we're always happy to provide a receipt if specifically requested. We don't accept card payments for purchases under £5 due to transaction charges that would significantly impact the funds we can direct toward supporting mental health services.

We take all feedback seriously and will ensure this is shared with our store team to help us improve. Our staff and volunteers work hard to create a welcoming environment while supporting our charitable mission.

Only 1 star for arrival

Only 1 star for arrival.
They have a crystal ball, they know what the customer wants so why send a thank you for the donation and any tax deductions they can submit. They arrived soon enough, 3 men and with less fuel than they began with after the initial viewing of perfectly good beds, left with the knowledge that nobody wants a bed, although not of recent era but maybe 70s 80s continental style, solid, intact, easily put together and already dismantled (we're pensioner's) we've moved them at least 5 times to different rooms. Well the CEO must wonder how they'll manage on such small wage. Never will I bother to donate again.

Regarding the beds you kindly offered, we must follow strict health, safety, and resale regulations, particularly when it comes to upholstered and older furniture. While your beds were clearly cared for and well maintained, unfortunately, items of a certain age, especially from the 70s or 80s often do not conform to current fire safety standards, and we are therefore unable to accept them. This is in line with national regulations and not a reflection on your generosity or the condition of the furniture or Castle.

We’re sorry this wasn’t better explained during the visit. We will raise this with our volunteers & staff to improve our communication in future collections.

We remain incredibly grateful to everyone who supports our work.

Beware of Crooks

Cupar branch have a pallet of old tins of Farrow & Ball paint at the front of their premises.As everyone knows F&B are an expensive paint.They are selling them at £2 a tin so my partner purchased 6 tins.Got them home to discover the paint has long since gone off(putrid disgusting aroma upon opening).She phoned them and was told bring them back and we will refund.Consider this, they know this paint is off yet continue to have it on sale to the public.We returned the paint, however a rather obnoxious and unpleasant woman refused to refund her £10 without a receipt.She did not receive a receipt.The paint was clearly from their pallet yet she still refused to honour payment without a receipt.So to add insult to injury she also lost the £10.And the paint remains on sale.Call me old fashioned but does this seem like the type of people you want to do business with?They are entirely happy to sell product they know is faulty to unsuspecting members of the public and then refuse to give them their money back.

The guys turned up while I was at an appointment. I knew I was going to miss them so I left a note pinned to my front door asking if they could please try to deliver that day. They called me to say the would do their best. Low and behold they did indeed! Could not be more happy with the service. Chatty and polite. And let me know it was no trouble that they had fitted me in. Give these guys a raise! :)

Drivers turned up to collect my corner…

Drivers turned up to collect my corner sofa, which was in great condition apart from one of the cushions having some staining on it, possibly dye from clothing, however I think this could have been removed. They started humming and hawing about quality control and how they "did not think they could take it". I specifically mentioned the staining while completing the online form for collection, so this has just been a waste of time. They should have refused after reading the form! I had turned down someone who was going to take the sofa off my hands, as I thought it would be better going to charity. Won't bother with them again and I certainly wouldn't buy items off them....gumtree is cheaper!
