Scammers 0 star

I wish I could rate this scamming company a 0 star. 1. We were planning on renting a car from the Houston airport location. This company is located 10 minutes from the actual airport and they send you a video on how to trek through the parking lot of the car rental area and where to wait for them to send a random person to pick you up and bring you to a ran down “family own” Ramada inn. First issue.
2. I booked the vehicle through Priceline. The price was $172. When we got to the scammer office they wanted us to pay another $250 for “airport fees”! This was not stipulated anywhere in the agreement. On top of that a couple ahead of us left there office too for the same thing trying to charge them additional fees. We cancelled this rental and did not proceed with them. Once we told them they were in the wrong the drivers whole demeanour changed and they became so rude towards us
DO NOT TRUST THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. I wish I saw these reviews before. We ended up renting a car through Budget and really good electric vehicle that turned out cheaper and way more reliable then this place.

WARNING FOR CUSTOMERS

WARNING FOR CUSTOMERS – CARWIZ CATANIA AIRPORT

I wish I had read the reviews here before renting a car from this company. My experience is exactly the same as many others describe.

At the rental desk I clearly stated (using a translator) that I already had full insurance from a third-party provider. Despite this, the employee added “Premium Insurance” for 176.02 EUR to the contract without my consent. I only discovered the charge afterwards.

This forced me to file formal complaints and dispute the payment.

Reading the reviews here afterwards, it appears that many customers have had the same experience.

My advice to everyone: check every single item on the contract before signing and do not trust verbal assurances.

Never again.

Carwiz was awful!

Carwiz was awful!! Do not rent a car from them! First they printed their address was at Tampa International Airport. It wasn’t. You had to take a shuttle to get there. Then we waited in line for over an hour to pick up our car that was already paid for in full. They told us we had to put a $500 security fee on our card. Then they changed our card an additional $269 for insurance after we already showed proof of our insurance. After we returned the car with a full tank of gas they still charged our card 2 more fees without telling us. DO NOT USE Colusa car rental at all!! They were listed as 8 different car rental places on their sign. Awful!!!!

Hundreds in extra hidden fees added to rental price.

I booked a car rental and prepaid for everything when I went to pick up my car, they told me I would have to pay hundreds of extra dollars to get my car. I could not afford all their extra fees , so I had to get an uber instead, and i'm just out the money for the weak car rental.

They will add additional cost and try…

They will add additional cost and try to blane customer for existing damage to the car.
I have book my car online, get finel bill and pay it in full, once i get car, i received additional bill for renting out off working hours?? But this is the time i have put in when book it and pay the bill, so why additional charges, and then same happen when i was returning the car. As well guy who was collecting and checking the car try to put some damage on me, luckily for me i always do pictures of the cars I'm renting, so i,was able to prove it on the spot that this damage exists before, otherwise they will change me for it!! Avoid this company!!!!

DECEPTIVE

I made a reservation with Carwiz and when I arrived at the rental counter I was told that my personal auto insurance was not sufficient because they require $300,000 in liability coverage. I explained that I was able to update my policy immediately and could increase my coverage in real time, effective right then. Despite this, I was told it was company policy that the coverage must have been active for three months prior to the reservation, which was never disclosed during booking.

Because of this, I was essentially forced to purchase their supplemental insurance, which added almost $350 to the cost of my rental. When I asked to see this policy in writing, they were unable to provide any documentation. There was no mention of this requirement when I booked, and if it had been disclosed, I would have chosen a different rental company.

This feels deceptive and appears designed to push customers into buying expensive supplemental insurance even when they have adequate coverage. Requiring such a high liability amount without clear disclosure is unreasonable, and the lack of written policy is concerning. Renters should be aware of this practice before booking.

A long message but please read through as Carwiz scam taken to another level

A long message but please read through all as this is scam taken to another level (I think even illegal). This is about Carwiz in Bucharest Henry Coanda airport (Romania). Well actually, given the reviews I read online, I avoided renting from Carwiz and opted for a more expensive quote with NU car rental, from the Expedia site. I included full cover, also with Expedia. At the airport, the shuttle took me to Carwiz office, which was shocking really. Inside the office, there was also a desk with the NU car logo/panel. It did not look promising and indeed, the client before me had to go through all the circumstances I had read online about carwiz. He did not have an embrossed credit card, so he was essentially forced to acquire the cover from them from around 900 euros. They of course blame the voucher, which he client got from bookings, but I think that bookings send a voucher that they just receive from the rental car company and not one they generate themselves - why should bookings asks for embrossed credit cards that have replaced long time ago - it does not make sense really!? Possibly, carwiz do that with bookings, whom may not check the minor detail about the need for an embroessed card - and I am sure the guys at the carwiz office would not even have the old machine to take the details of the embrossed car. Of course, they were more than happy to receive payment for the insurance bought from them at extraordinary premium with a"normal' (not embrossed) credit card. Clearly the normal credit card works fine if you buy the insurance from them. Anyway, anticipating the issue, I intervened in defence of the client, which essentially saved me from the huge pressure to buy insurance from them. They did try with the usual reference to damages and so on but not a huge pressure. Of course, the car damage report they gave me missed at least 9 more scratches (I say at least because those are the ones I could find), which were simply added with a pen to my report. I knew it was going to be difficult when dropping off the car. I rented from 15 to 19 February. Drove the car from Bucharest to Poiana Brasov, the car remained parked at the hotel in Poiana, and drove back from Poiana to Bucharest on the 19th. At the airport, three very small scratches were found, very tiny that could be even covered with a tiny bit of paint. They said possibly done by stones that hit the car while driving. I don't know whether heavy snow (the car was covered under heavy snow for the whole period at the hotel) might take a bit of paint off?? In any case, a kind of wear and tear for any other product. The result, a charge of 1200euros. Of course a huge argument as their aggressive stands etc. was just awful. Even more shocking, the NU desk/logo had disappeared from the office, in just 4 days since I picked up the car! I asked what happened but they avoided any direct and clear reply, but my contract was with NU. When they prepared the invoice for the damages, this had the carwiz logo and I could not accept it as my contract was with NU. When I said I did not want the carwiz logo (fearing that the insurance might reject my claim) they just took it out but did not include any reference to NU at all, despite arguments and me asking over and over again. Of course, they also know that clients are always under huge time pressure, unless you just return the car back 4/5 hours earlier, refuse to pay and see what happens with the risk of missing flights etc. I spent there one hour and 20 minutes and therefore had to to take the invoice without the reference to NU, but could do because the contract number and the info could be matched with the original contract that referred to NU.
So please avoid this scammer at all costs. They are just so well versed and have a series of strategies, whether to get an unnecessary insurance from them at huge costs before you pick up the car, or charging huge amounts for tiny scratches that are almost impossible to avoid when you return the car. But what was even more shocking is that, knowing of their reputation I wanted to avoid them and rented with NU, but ended up with them. So they must know the reviews with carwiz are generally awful and therefore have got some agreement with NU but that must have ended between the Monday and Thursday of my rental period, as they could not provide any reference/invoice with NU nor have the logo in the office anymore. If you also read the positive reviews about them online, you will notice a clear writing pattern and style, so I suspect (I cannot be certain of course) that they are fake reviews.

Carwiz by Colusa Rent-a-Car at Tampa…

Carwiz by Colusa Rent-a-Car at Tampa International Airport. • Undisclosed mandatory charges: The total cost at the rental counter was nearly double the price quoted at the time of booking. These fees were not clearly disclosed during the reservation process.
• Excessive shuttle wait: We waited approximately 40 minutes at the airport for the rental company’s shuttle.
• Unsafe and unacceptable first vehicle: The initial car provided was heavily dented and scratched and made loud mechanical noises, making it unsafe to drive. We were forced to return and request a replacement.
• Unprofessional customer service: Staff were consistently rude and unhelpful. There were multiple other customers in the office actively complaining about similar issues.
• Lack of communication: We were unable to reach the company by phone and were instructed to use WhatsApp for assistance, which is not an appropriate or reliable primary customer service method for time-sensitive travel.
• Return process confusion: We returned the vehicle on time and handed the keys to the person present as we were rushing to catch the airport shuttle. We were given no confirmation that the return was complete and were later told the individual “did not work there,” which is extremely concerning and unprofessional.

Very bad service avoid

Very bad service avoid!
First time new hybrid vehicle has broken down and we had to wait for a while for someone to come in. We have been offered a replacement car but they had no automatic ones which we paid for so we took the manual one. We had to chase for the final invoice so they are not in rush with the deposit back. And in the end they forgot to charge the deposit !
The second time we returned the car on 5th January 2026 and never received a final invoice. After many attempts trying to recover our deposit back they told us it’s been returned! We have checked with the card issue and they haven’t done it. I asked for receipt and they said they don’t have it! When Booking stepped in (very slow chaotic service still in progress) they said they do not know why they haven’t returned the deposit to us! Never mind they were the cheapest option we will never rent the car of them! Shocking! I’m wondering why booking still cooperate with them. They should be banned!

Poor standard

Very unhelpfull with loading luggage into the shuttle, laxk of communication we waitined inside the shuttle whilst the drive made a phone call. The girl at the office, was very helpful with explaining the different offers available. Car did show some signs of damages, which were noted as well as low petrol, even though the site said full. The car had rattling sound, poor wiper blades. On departure they made us wait for other people to return to fit us all in the shuttle rather than make more than one trip

An absolute scam/racket of a rental company

An absolute scam/racket of a rental company located near London Heathrow airport.

They told me they don't accept Amex or contactless credit card at pick up and forced me to pay GBP 300 for insurance (which excludes tyres, alloys, glass) yet still made me pay a GBP 200 deposit.

They did not give me the chance to inspect the car when taking it on the basis that it was late and dark, then when I returned the car claimed that I caused damage to an alloy (despite me having photo evidence of the damage being pre-existing), forced me to pay a GBP 480 charge on the false premise that they would refund it upon me providing evidence that the damage was pre-existing. Then they ignored several emails I sent over the course of 2 months and after I raised a chargeback dispute with my bank, provided falsified documents to try to with the dispute claim!

This company needs to be shut down. Do not use, no matter how cheap the service might appear to be - it is not worth the hidden costs you'll inevitably end up paying.

Scammed out of money on arrival

Paid through 3rd party and took the insurance.
Arrived late with 2 elderly relatives and a toddler and basically made to pay for their insurance etc before they would release the car.
Deposit has not been returned even though told it would only be a few days and generally feel let down by this company.
I would advise sticking with a more reputable company for anyone visiting Malta.

If I could give a zero rating I would

If I could give a zero rating I would. These people should not be in business. Only two people were working when we were supposed to pick up our car. One shuttling and one returning cars. They would not give us a car until all rentals were returned. We were there for over 2 hours. We asked again when we could get a car and he told us if we can't wait to go elsewhere. This was rented through Priceline. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!
