ZERO assistance for 62 days and counting. STONEWALLED

Someone stole my IRS and state tax checks out of the mail at the post office. The account had to be frozen because the checks had been washed. I was assessed penalties because of late/bounced check fees that were already in processing. To remove the penalties, I have to provide proof with a letter from CapOne explaining the details. I have called Cap One weekly for SIXTY DAYS, each time they reassured me a letter in 7 days. When I told them it had been over a month, they changed the story to 30 days for requests, when I said it had been more than 30 days, they said it would 60 days. Now they say it will be ANOTHER 60 days because a different team has to handle it - that is a total of FOUR MONTHS for a letter. NOT an organization that I trust my money with. They are obligated to document your account activity and fail to deliver, saying they didn't know who was supposed to handle it.

It should be called Capital FRAUD One...

If there were a "0" stars option i would give it for these FAKE rewards.

First thing i was offered: Get $15 when you purchase $25 worth...

Fake! Fraud! Lies!

Their $40 redeem for getting the Capital One extension....TOTAL LIE! They never even emailed or approached me on it.

And they BURY their support behind phone numbers because they KNOW you will get pissed off and hang up due to people who don't speak english.

I purposely applied for the VENTURE CARD to earn points toward flights and hotels. However, when planning a future vacation (and using my 59,000) miles on a one way American Airlines flight - the amount we would be charged AFTER using all the miles was $800+....when I went on the American site and looked at the exact same tickets/flight times - it would only cost us a total of $488 for TWO PEOPLE. This Venture card also didn't let me choose my favorite hotel for one night, claiming I needed to pick a different date (my hotel stay would NOT be until 6 months from today in Chicago!!!!! The Venture card is a total rip off when planning a vacation

I have been a loyal customer for 2 years without an increase. Every time I ask they deny me but send an email stating my loyalty. They claim they help you build credit…. how when you’re still at the same place. Horrible just horrible.

I have several accounts through capital…

I have several accounts through capital one. I talked with the representative today and asked if there was a way to remove the membership fee, and the rep advised me that I was ineligible to get a fee waiver and that there were no options for me to get a different card and they just couldn't help me. The rap did not appear interested to help me in the least, and I felt that he didn't even attempt to try to reach out for any further assistance with me being a loyal customer for several years now. I am very unhappy with Capital One and will be doing my best to pay off the accounts that I have with them moving forward and ASAP! LOOKING FORWARD TO CLOSING MY ACCOUNTS IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO HELP ME WHO'S BEEN A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER HAVING A CAR ACCOUNT AND THREE OTHER DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS THROUGH THIS SO-CALLED REPUTABLE COMPANY I NO LONGER WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU, AND TRUST ME I WILL NOT IF YOU'RE NOT FAITHFUL TO ME I'M NOT GOING TO BE FAITHFUL TO YOU. I do not recommend Capital One credit for anyone they have hidden fees this is the first time that I've been notified concerning a fee, and I feel like they should make it more apparent concerning fees that are hidden and make every effort to make the consumer and their customers aware of all charges at all times. I left a 1 star review because I was unable to leave a 0

Let me start by saying my credit score…

Let me start by saying my credit score is 814.
I received a Cash back offer via email. Specifically, Spend $50 @ Sam's Club, get a $50 credit. When I never received the credit, I began calling the 1800 # on the back of the card. I had saved my email to forward. I was told to wait 30, then 60 days. I also reported it through Eno, their AI service, to no avail.
I am in my 5th year of credit counseling and I DO NOT SUGGEST CAPITOL ONE. I have never experienced false advertisement like such with my Chase or Wells Fargo Cards!

I’m extremely disappointed with my…

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Expedia. I attempted to book airline tickets through Expedia, but the website gave me an error and I never received a confirmation email or tickets in my Expedia account. Despite that, I was still charged four separate times for $781.13 each — a total of $3,124.52.

I have spent weeks calling both Expedia and British Airways trying to get this resolved. British Airways tells me that only Expedia, as the travel agency, can cancel or fix the booking. Expedia can see the reservation, but it does not appear in my account and they have still been unable to properly resolve the issue.

I even have an Expedia case number, and a British Airways booking reference, yet I continue to get passed back and forth with no real solution.

For a company this large, the level of customer service and accountability has been incredibly frustrating. I should not have to fight for weeks to recover more than $3,000 for tickets I cannot access or use.

I would strongly recommend being very cautious when booking through Expedia, especially for expensive international travel. My experience has been stressful, time-consuming, and completely unacceptable.

I have given my bank all the proof in the world and I continue to get emails of customer at fault. Nobody on capital one is investigating this or calling any of these parties to get my money back.

Terrible company

Terrible company
This company doesn’t deserve any stars, I entered 1 star because I don’t have any choices of not picking any. Please avoid this company they just don’t stick a gun in your head and took your money. They’re terrible don’t even take your time applying with them. I had them before few years ago due to bad experience I close the card down. Then I had my Discover since 2015, they also merge this month with capitol one for servicing, just to avoid dealing with them again I closed my Discover card that I had like so much because of them. After paying the entire bill over by $280, they still send me another bill for $206 for late fees, after the card was already closed still refused to reverse it back. The supervisor told me there’s no way she can do it because the account is closed, but I was still billed after it already was.
Please people take your business somewhere else avoid Capitol One if you could, because you’re going to put yourself in bigger financial trouble take this from me. RUN.

Terrible

Terrible. Zero stars. I haven't had a Capital One card or anything to do with them since I was twenty something. This is partly the case because they target young people who don't know what they should do to build credit, and also partly because it's so clear that they are truly a horrid company. They screwed up my credit back then, which I've fought back to get, but still, to this day, I see gross moments of Cap One trying to give away credit at points of service, that are possibly ignored accidentally, an therefore accepted.

Disgusting and bad for everyone's credit score.

Capital One business customers

Capital One business customers, please be aware: if you switch your phone carrier or upgrade your device, your ability to process ACH transactions will be completely suspended for 5 to 10 business days due to backend security delays. As business owners, this has been the worst experience we have encountered with Capital One. Our operations rely entirely on ACH transfers because they are typically fast, secure, and reliable. Unfortunately, this critical security restriction was never disclosed when we opened our business account. To make matters worse, the customer service representatives we contacted were dismissive and unhelpful. Capital One needs to fix this systemic glitch and better train their support teams to handle urgent business disruptions.

After banking with capital one I’m going to be switching banks. The difficulty in trying to use my debt card now that it is discover and that fact that if you lose your card they don’t issue a digital number to use until your physical card arrives. So you just can’t access your money. I can’t pay a bill of mine because the card is Discover and I can’t get cash because there are no tap pay atms that take capital one cards. And I can’t be locked out of my money while I wait on a new one. What a shame.

1-Star Capital One 360 Review

Absolute nightmare of a bank. Stay far away.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Signing up for this account was the biggest mistake. They locked me out of my own money, unlinked my external accounts for no reason, and refused to issue a virtual card while mailing my actual debit card to the wrong address.
When you finally manage to talk to customer service, it gets even worse. The agents literally gaslight you on the phone—staring right at their screen claiming "everything looks fine" while you're locked out of your funds, and lying about emails they supposedly sent. Their security loops and app are an absolute, broken disaster.
Do not fall for their $300 sign-up bonus trap; they make you wait months for it anyway, and it is 100% not worth the sheer amount of stress, incompetence, and rage. I am closing my account and going back to a real bank that actually lets me access my money. Absolutely garbage customer service and terrible banking experience.

HORRIBLE company

HORRIBLE company! Supposed to be your 'travel card' - ha!!! While traveling, I called to pay off the card and was told we needed to do a 3-way call with my bank and give my personal security info in front of the CapitalOne employee. My bank, of course, advised against this. The C1 employee said they then could not accept my payment. This is the account I've been paying that card from for over a year, and suddenly they have to prove that it's my account?!?However, the next day, they took the payment out of my bank account and restricted my card, while I was traveling. Terrible customer service diguised as 'security'. Didn't get this card would pay their criminally high interest rates, the travel credits are NOT worth it. Also, they recommend Choice Hotels in their Travel app and they are horrible as well. See review re: SLC Clarion.

Above average

I do not love Capital One by any means but they make it easy to become a customer. As a foreigner, I would recommend applying for a credit card with capital one as they are probably the only ones that will accept you and are equipped for it. Other banks like BofA are just a lost cause.

Capital One Turned a Legitimate Probate Check Into a Nightmare

Capital One turned a legitimate $17,163.19 probate distribution into an unnecessary nightmare. The check was issued by an attorney, and the issuing bank had already cleared and paid it on August 18. Despite that, Capital One’s automated risk system suddenly changed the availability date to October 16, nearly two months later, claiming it still needed to verify the check.

The attorney who issued the check personally became involved and confirmed that it was legitimate and that the money had already left his bank account. I still had to escalate through two Capital One supervisors before the hold was finally removed.

A customer should not have to involve an attorney and fight through multiple supervisors to gain access to legitimate funds that the issuing bank has already paid. This experience severely damaged my trust in Capital One.

Absolutely horrible customer service

Absolutely horrible customer service I used to bank with them for about 4 years then I became a victim of identity thefts where someone opened 3 of the capital one checking accounts in my name i called them they froze my account and took well above the legal amount of time to investigate they investigated and blamed it on me and I had to dispute it and continue to try and proove myself even tho i had an ftc report also I've been yelled at by multiple customer service representatives it took about 4 months to finish the identity thefts with capital one they whew not helpful they blamed it on me then fast forward to now I had a savings account with them they closed it for identity thefts even tho it was not i provided them my ID they took all the money said they have to investigate i gave all my information to them and I'm still waiting and I don't have any of my money when this part of capital one is done I'm switching my savings account to a different bank and will never bank with capital one now or in the future

Horrible Customer Service

I have been a Capital One customer for over 10 years and, until recently, never had any issues because I never needed to deal with customer service. I currently have three credit cards, one checking account, and three savings accounts with them.

Recently, a state tax levy was placed on my accounts. I fully acknowledge that I owe the tax debt and am not disputing that fact. I've been going through some difficult financial times, which is how I ended up in this situation. However, my issue is not with the levy itself. My issue is with how Capital One handled it.

The state sent Capital One a one-time levy writ to collect any available funds up to the $3,600 I owed. Instead, Capital One placed a negative balance for the full levy amount on all four of my deposit accounts, creating a combined negative balance of approximately $14,400. This could have been financially devastating. It had the potential to absorb an entire month's worth of direct deposits and leave me unable to pay my bills.

As a single parent, I depend on my income to provide for my child and cover basic necessities like rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and school expenses. Having my accounts handled this way created an incredible amount of stress and uncertainty. I even had to borrow money just to bring my checking account back into a positive balance so I could continue accessing my own funds.

The levy has since been satisfied, yet the problems continue. The funds that were taken remain locked, and the negative balances are still showing on all of my savings accounts. I have called Capital One every day for the past two weeks and have spoken with multiple representatives. Each time, I am told they are waiting for the state to release the funds. However, when I contact the state, they tell me they only sent the original writ and have not issued any further correspondence.

No one at Capital One has been able to explain why they are still trying to collect funds from my savings accounts or why they are holding several hundred dollars more than the amount they were instructed to collect. Despite at least six calls, nobody has been willing to escalate the issue to upper management or provide a meaningful resolution.

I have been a loyal customer for more than a decade, and this experience has completely changed my opinion of the bank. The lack of communication, accountability, and urgency has been extremely frustrating. No customer, especially one trying to support a family, should have to fight this hard to access their own money after a levy has already been satisfied.
