Love this store
Love this store. Just went in yesterday to get a whole bunch of gifts for a few friends. The selection is huge and it's almost too hard to chose, but everyone was super nice, especially the guy named Derren. Will definitely return.
Bad customer service
Bad customer service. Rude in tone with emails about a return. I was a long time customer bought many things one item arrived cracked I returned it along with a few others I didn’t like -kept the bulk of the almost 1000$ order and they want to charge me for the broken one I sent back. Why a company would want to burn a customer over one candle that arrived broken is beyond me. Not gonna use them again.
The Truth About Candle Delerium Consignment
About 2 months ago, I submitted my luxury candle for consideration of consignment to Candle Delerium. I was asked for 4 samples, which I turned over in person along with the necessary paperwork. After about a month & a half, I received a rejection email stating that after careful consideration, they were unable to take on our brand. Of course I was disappointed, but rejection is a part of life & I accepted their decision.
When I called the store to see about picking up the remaining products, I was told that they didn’t usually return the samples. It didn’t really make sense to me why they would feel entitled to keep the 4 boxes, the 4 hand jeweled vessels & the 4 chrome lids, as well as 2 other one of a kind jeweled vessels, both with chrome lids & boxes, that had also been submitted for consideration, minus the wax. After all, we are a small business just starting up & if they had rejected our products, why would they assume that we wouldn’t want to refurbish & eventually sell them? These weren’t gifts, rather submissions for consideration.
Brice, one of the managers told me that he had one of my candles at his house! But he never agreed to return it?! Shady much? He did however agree to return the 2 jeweled vessels without wax & 1 candle that hadn’t been burned. Strangely enough, the 3 items that they did handover were all conveniently missing the chrome lids! It’s bad enough that we already had been rejected by the store & now they’re disrespecting me & my product by mysteriously separating the lids? I had almost been willing to accept the fact that they were refusing to return the remaining samples, but the missing lids really made me feel some type of way!
When I confronted Brice over the phone about the missing lids, he acted like he never saw any lids! We all know they didn’t magically disappear! He put the phone down to converse with another employee named Ariana, & I could hear her say, “we tell them we don’t want their candles, & now they want their lids back?”
ABSOLUTELY! 100% WE WANT OUR LIDS BACK!
Brice then went on to tell me that we would definitely NOT be doing business in the future & he hoped this isn’t the way I always handle business! First of all the feeling is quite mutual! We definitely don’t need our beautiful candles in on consignment in your over saturated, dusty, dog hair covered store. Most of their candles have little to NO cold throw & are collecting dust & dog hair! Second of all, Brice straight up admitted that the real reason we had not been accepted was because of one of the owners closest & dearest friend had a similar, albeit subpar candle, that would be too much competition!
He then had the nerve to tell me, that I should be grateful for all the time he had spent with me (at most 5 minutes), & that he had given me advice that most people would “pay for!” Like, are you serious? He’s actually the one who asked ME who my manufacturer was & seemed taken aback when I explained that our candles were handmade by myself & my business partner. In fact, he was asking ME what type of wax & fragrance oils I used. We never needed any of your feedback… but if it makes you feel better, think what you want! At one point, he even said that employees had been asking to take home our vessels, but he stated that he had said he knew we would be back for these! Weird flex, but ok.
My advice to anyone considering submitting their candle for consignment: be ready to deal with a lot of attitude, a lot of shade & politics & favoritism! And I strongly suggest, writing up your own contract if you ever want to see any of your remaining sample products returned. And always remember: Rejection, is God’s protection!
