Great place to gain wild teaching experience. If you love nature, young students full of joy and energy, interactive activities and creativity Campus Moragete is for you ;) Everyday there is a new opportunity to grow, to learn, to exchange work practices from teachers all around the globe. Days are very active and intense as you can expect working with youngsters; classes are well prepared, interactive and different so you can't never get bored :) The ends of the day are full of joy, hundred happy students' faces and appreciation for the well done job. Of course you might feel tired but at the same time you feel recharged with great emotions and memories. All this bring meaning to your work, efforts and motivates you to work for such a beautiful place. I spent almost 7 months in the camp in 2022 and the experience I gained can't be compared to any other. I strongly recomend Moragete to everyone who wants to get competitive work experience, to build great connection with internacional teachers and to combine work place with a beautiful working environment in the mountain.
I have worked here as a teacher for almost three years now, I have to say that my experience has been incredible, I've met awesome people from different countries throughout this time. The job requires enthusiasm and energy because we work with kids and one day is full of activities; kids and parents are very satisfied with the camp, I recommend this job to people who are dynamic, easygoing, fluent in English, charming and full of love for the kids. The camp provides us with all the basics, shared rooms, enough food, etc. Not only do kids will enjoy the experience but also teachers and monitors.
A fun experience, but ultimately the sketchiness of this place cannot be ignored.
There are more interns than teachers who are expected to carry out all tasks that a qualified TEFL instructor could. Paid by cash in hand at the discretion of what seems to be one woman.
The management repeatedly side with children and their parents instead of their own staff during disputes (which is absolute unreasonable).
Poor teaching practices, errors of judgement and other slip-ups are publicly shamed in a WhatsApp group chat with little to no face-to-face discussion. On the rare occasion that someone does talk to you about it, it's a 30 second, one-sided exchange where one is shouted at in Spanglish.
The teaching coordinator had no allocated time to train the interns and so this was done (incredibly rushed) in the precious free time we were given. Teachers would walk into lessons unfamiliar with the material or lesson flow due to this.
I'll let the cramped accommodation slide. I didn't mind it too much.
Totally illegal work practices. Needs investigating by the Spanish authorities. Cramped accommodation shared by other teachers, one tiny bathroom, no furniture. No legal contracts, no breaks, long long working hours for less than minimum wage. They get away with hiring and firing at will because most staff are non European and have no work visas. Bullying behavior towards staff, includes screaming in your face, public show downs and "reviews" about your teaching in public where no constructive advice or criticism is given. AVOID
A great place to live, work, learn and have fun in a total language immersion environment.
