An inspiring concept- Cabiner

I recently stayed at a cabin in Leewesmeer National Park, and the experience left a deep impression on me. As someone who calls both Holland and India home—two countries known for their high population density—finding a place of such peace and quiet within a bustling country felt like a rare and welcome gift.

What stood out even more was the thoughtful landscaping around the cabin. From my patio, I could see how beautifully the natural and built environments had been integrated. It sparked something in me—a new way of thinking about how people and nature can truly co-exist, not in conflict, but in harmony.

In many places I’ve been, I’ve seen concrete encroach on every inch of space, leaving no room for nature to breathe. But here, I felt the opposite: nature had been given its rightful place, and it was thriving. That cabin didn’t just offer a retreat; it planted a seed of inspiration. From that moment, I began to act on this idea—finding ways to bring that same sense of balance and beauty into other spaces I care about. It sparked a feeling of hope.

Perfect stay, combining back to basics with luxury.

(English below)

Cabiner is an amazing journey which combines luxury and back to basics. Me and my girlfriend stayed at De Drentsche Aa. Here we celbrated my girlfriends birthday and our anniversary. The cabin was beautifully placed inside the woods and we loved to watch the stars when we went to sleep. We went out for a run early the next morning and experienced the forrest awakening just as we did.

The cabin itself was clean and we had all the comfort we desired. There was a good bed and inside the kitchen was everything we needed to cook a warming Dahl. We made it on top of the fireplace which took a while, but that doesn't matter at all. We drank wine, enjoyed nature and cherrised eachothers company.

The only downside i can think of is the price....
It is really expensive and people with less money are not able to spend a night here, which is a shame.
I do think it is somewhat reasonable though. They can't place a lot of these cabins and they really take the sustainable route with everything they do. All of this comes with a price.

If you want to enjoy nature, with a little bit of comfort and are able to pay the price for it, i wholeheartenly recommend Cabiner.

What an amazing experience

What an amazing experience! We enjoyed our walk to the cabin. It was tough because we had to carry a lot of drinking water, because we were staying multiple days. But when we arrived at the beautifull little cabin it was worth the hard walk. It was very clean, bigger and better than I expected. Cooking on a fireplace was a very nice experience. Because it takes longer than normal for your food to be ready, it learns you to do things more slowly and just go with the flow. I felt more at peace then when I am at home. I also love that there's no tv and bad mobile reception. It forces you to go back to basic and get more in contact with yourself, nature and your friends. Sitting on the porch watching the night sky and having a good conversation with your friends, without the distractions of phones, is what I enjoyed the most. I felt at peace at the cabin and I would recommend this experience to anyone.

Experience was exactly as promised on the website

We had a lovely time (out) in the woods. We got a little lost trying to reach the cabin but that's part of the experience. The cabin was exactly what we expected and better (loved the details, like slippers to use indoors and the choices of tea and spices). All the pictures you see on the website are true! We can't wait to explore the other areas

Regular Cabiner user and Big Fan

I visited Cabiner cabins several times over the last few years and it has been an incredible positive experience. It feels like a mini adventure and being a Dutch native and vivid hiker I was surprised by all the new parts of my own country I discovered. On top of that, the cabins are placed in a way that gives you privacy and gives you the feeling that you are part of nature and not just a visitor passing through. Cabins are clean and it educates you in a subtile way on how to treat tour environment, you can prepare your own meals (love the packages and recipes for meals you can pre-order). Looking forward to international expansion of the concept!

Pure peace

Pure peace. After a beautiful humbling walk, I arrived at "my" little house I felt immediate peace. Just me, nature, a nice little selfsufficient home, fire, warmth, and probably animals (which I regretfully didn't spot). What does a person need more? In the Netherlands, these nature silent place are rare. This is a unique experience. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Dankjewel!

A stay that touches your soul, right in the heart of nature!

My time with Cabiner in the Sallandse Heuvelrug was everything I didn’t know I needed. From the moment I started the walk to the beautifully secluded cabin, I could feel a sense of calm washing over me. The birdsong accompanied me into the woods, where time seemed to slow down.

Once I arrived, I became deeply aware of the value of simplicity. Lighting the stove for warm water, gathering wood behind the cabin — those small, everyday tasks we usually rush through suddenly became grounding. Slowing down and being mindful allowed me to experience everything more intensely.

Less comfort turned out to mean more: more silence, more awareness, more connection with my body and the nature surrounding me. This stay didn’t just offer a beautiful place to be — it gave me space for reflection. It showed me how much richness can be found in the little things, in simplicity, in being present.

Thanks to Cabiner, I feel recharged and more connected to myself — all in the midst of the forest’s scent and stillness.

Thank you!

‐-----------
It was a cool adventure. With a backpack on, a few days worth of food and into nature. Unforgettable! The houses were very clean, the journey there was beautiful and it really surprised us. The search for the house was fun and the food that was made on the stove tasted delicious. We will definitely go on this adventure again!

This place was an absolute disaster…

This place was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Despite routes being provided in different formats, the location was extremely difficult to find. Thankfully, their WhatsApp support was responsive, which was one of the few positives. However, upon arrival, we were greeted by an overgrown area where the paths were barely visible—clearly, there has been no effort to maintain the grounds. Blaming the lack of upkeep on rain or natural conditions is just not acceptable; some maintenance is desperately needed.

The room itself was a nightmare. The green sheet on the bed looked like something straight out of a horror movie. The mattress was sunken and uncomfortable, and the pillows were so cheap and flimsy they might as well be thrown out. The entire room was dusty and filled with cobwebs—a perfect setup for an asthma attack. I had one of the worst nights ever due to the dust.

To make matters worse, the cabin was in an area teeming with mosquitoes, yet they didn’t even provide mosquito nets for the beds. Yes, we came prepared with our own mosquito sprays and other necessities, but for the amount of money spent on this cabin, a mosquito net is not too much to ask for. The shower was another disappointment, with very little pressure, making it a horrible experience.

What really pushed us over the edge was the dangerous situation we were put in regarding drinking water. We were informed that there would be drinking water available at the cabin and that we only needed to bring about a liter of water. We did exactly that, only to find a plaque in the cabin telling us the water was unsafe to drink. You can imagine the horror when we read that. Feeling unsafe and at risk, we left the cabin before 6 a.m., desperate to escape this traumatic experience.

After our ordeal, we checked other reviews and found that every issue we faced has already been mentioned by previous guests. Clearly, Cabiner does not care about the feedback they receive. If they did, these problems would have been addressed long ago. It’s particularly disappointing because we’ve visited many places, including in Africa, and seen some of the most beautifully maintained cabins. The state of Cabiner’s cabins is shameful in comparison, even when compared to so-called "third world" cabins. It feels like a money making scam

The situation with the fire pit was another infuriating issue. The grass around it was knee-high, making it impossible to walk to. I didn’t pay to wade through high grass just to enjoy a basic amenity. This was truly atrocious and completely unacceptable.

Overall, this experience was infuriating, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless serious improvements are made.

Not remote at all

Our quest for tranquility at a remote cabin ended in disappointment. The path to the cabin was treacherously muddy, causing several falls and setting a foreboding tone for our stay. Upon arrival, our hopes for seclusion were dashed by the sight of three cars parked disturbingly close, contradicting the advertised remoteness. The sense of privacy was further compromised late at night when loud music, originating from an unknown location, pierced the stillness, disrupting our anticipated peaceful retreat.

This intrusion of noise, along with the misleading portrayal of the cabin’s accessibility and solitude, left us feeling deeply misled. The guestbook, filled with similar grievances, suggested a pattern of neglect towards guests' feedback. This experience, far from the idyllic escape we envisioned, serves as a caution for those in search of genuine peace and quiet. The cabin, with its unaddressed issues and broken promises, is ill-suited for those seeking to immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature.
