The booking experience was completely hassle free and also when I decided to alter the original booking to include a stop-over in Dubai I was very happy with the help and service I received with this booking. We toured Japan with Bunnik which was just fantastic and had no hesitation in recommending you to friends for their recent Italy trip which they absolutely loved and couldn’t fault.

Last August my partner and I returned from the Bunniks Turkey/Greece 24 Day Tour. This was our second tour with Bunniks. The first was pre-COViD, the Egypt, Israel and Jordan Tour 2019.
Why choose Bunniks? Yes, they are a bit more expensive than comparable tours, (all tour companies visit the big attractions), but Bunniks do a lot of little things the others don’t. Bunniks Tours tend to attract 60 year old+ demographic.
To detail the Turkey/Greece Tour would take too long and not all of the bad things were within Bunniks control. I’m just going to touch on recurring items that are commendable and others that I think need attention.
The guides and drivers were outstanding. Very professional. The bus travel is just tolerable (although on this tour, seemingly endless) and that was mainly because of the small group concept and the access of seats to choose from. There were also numerous ‘comfort’ stops. The guides and drivers related to us they were already well compensated by Bunniks when offered additional gratuities.
Attractions usually have long lines waiting for entrance or premium viewing is usually hard to gain due to the large number of tourists. Not so with a Bunniks tour. We rarely waited in line and usually got the best or near best seats available.
Now the questionable stuff. Accomodation fluctuated between WOW and ‘Are you kidding?’ (We experienced this on the Egypt, Israel and Jordan Tour, but Bunniks on that tour identified it pre-tour and refunded us $600.) The hotels ranged from magnificent edifices, but with non-working showers, noise and unappetising food, (although many of the tour’s meals were covered in the tour price). Then there were boutique hotels with cramped rooms but great food (psometimes). The rooms were clean. Some had coffee/tea making facilities. One thing to keep in mind is, we were paying for these rooms but sometimes only getting a few hours sleep. Arriving sometimes late in the evening, trying to find a bite to eat either in the hotel or in the near vicinity (if there was something in the near vicinity. Some of the accomodation was a bit remote), then it was up to the room, hopefully a hot shower, a few hours sleep then back on the bus.
The Greece leg of the tour included a three day cruise. The ship was 40 years old, cramped and lacked modern amenities. Although clean and the crew attentive, the cruise was disappointing and required additional travel insurance. Visit the Greek Islands but not on an integrated cruise. This part of the tour is at times very rushed, crowed and more of a concentrated blur than an experience.
Touring is relentless and incredibly tiring. It’s not a holiday. You are on tour. For example in one day we visited the Blue Mosque, The Topaki Palace, The Grand Bizarre and The Spice Bizarre. Incredibly interesting and fascinating, large attractions however, to cram these four attractions into the one day was just way too much. Everything was rushed. Of the 4000 shops of the Grand Bizarre we saw very few and The Spice Bizarre even less.
Turkey, contrary to belief is neither exotic nor filled with hundreds of enviable attractions. Istanbul is beautifully chaotic with its 15 Million or so people. The majority of attractions are in Istanbul, Gallipoli (for Aussies and Kiwis), Cappadocia and the ballon ride, (overrated and expensive) and Roman ruins are everywhere. Ephesus is the pick. The Acropolis is the pick of attractions in Greece. The Turks are friendly. Greece is loud, argumentative and generally chaotic.
We did spend hours on the bus. There were days that I thought I had just purchased a very expensive bus ticket and we seemed to double back a few times. Which leads me to wonder if this tour does have a lot of fillers to plump out the 24 days. I suggest it is actually a 14 day tour without the visits to carpet factories, jewellery factories, pottery factories, minor attractions and driving for 6 or 7 hours in a day. There were a few of these, and not a few 3 and 4 hour bus days. Some of the ‘attractions’ were of poor quality. The City of Troy sounds grand but is rundown, strewn with rubbish and home to stray dogs. It would be closed down in Australia due to safety concerns. There were a few like this especially the cleanliness of the ablutions.
I recommend Turkey/Greece after you’ve been to Egypt, Israel Jordan, the US, the UK, Japan and Africa and then only really Istanbul, Gallipoli (if you’re Australian or Kiwi) and a few other places. Athens for the Acropolis and the Greek Islands separate.

Japan Discovery 29th April - 12 May, 2024
Had a fantastic tour of Japan escorted by tour guide Ms Eiko MUKAIDA for Bunnik. Eiko was the consummate professional who was knowledgeable, courteous and caring. An outstanding representative for Bunnik. The tour was really enjoyable and a great experience to get an immersion in the Japanese aesthetic and appreciate something of the art, history and culture. Highly recommend this tour.

I spoke to Vicki about my tri to Japan. I then paid for my trip and have had no contact with Vicki or anybody else. There were occasions when I needed guidance on things like travel insurance and Vicki was never available. I certainly wouldn’t say the service supplied was anything other than 2 star treatment from Bunnik

Just returned from the Highlights of Jordan and Egypt with Bunnik. Great accommodation throughout and local guides that were knowledgeable and helpful. Saw some bucket list sites like Petra and Giza with a group maximum of 20. Air conditioned coaches throughout with plenty of room to spread out. Coach drivers were very skillful. This was our third Bunnik tour and we've already booked for Japan in 2024

I’m finally getting to do my first Bunnik tour (Japan Discovery) very soon. My tour was cancelled in 2020 because of Covid. I must say that the way Bunnik dealt with that difficult situation then, and since, has been commendable, keeping me informed at all stages… well done Bunnik! Ashleigh has been wonderful in the recent past, organising me and making the whole process very easy. So looking forward to Japan.

Our 7th Bunnik tour in 2019 was to Nthn Spain and Portugal.
Unfortunately our 8th Bunnik tour to Greece was cancelled due to COVID. We love Bunnik tours as they are planned to give us the best experiences, small groups, good drivers and very informative tour directors. Plus we have made many friends who we have travelled with again and again .
Good value for money .
About to leave for Japan Discovery in 3 days.
Scandinavian Discovery tour was very special.

This will be my second trip with Bunnik Tours, the first was to Japan and it was nothing short of brilliant!! In preparation for my upcoming trip to Vietnam I needed to have Bunnik send me a particular document which, when received, was not able to be opened. I contacted Bunnik by phone and even though my regular Travel Specialist was unavailable I was able to request the file be resent in another format. This task was completed in spectacularly fast time, (wasted time avoided). I am hoping my Highlights of Vietnam tour will be just as wonderful as Japan.
