⭐ 1/5 – Bosch | €800 battery dead after 5 years and ~1,000 km. Disappointing customer service.
I bought two electric bikes fitted with Bosch batteries on the same day, from the same store. Both batteries were used, stored and maintained under strictly identical conditions for 5 years.
The result today:
✅ One battery works perfectly.
❌ The other is completely dead — after only around 1,000 km.
This battery retails for around €800. At that price, with reasonable use and careful maintenance, you are entitled to expect far greater longevity.
To put things in perspective: I recently sold a golf trolley whose battery had not been used since at least 2020 — and it still works perfectly. A well-engineered battery holds up over time, even through extended inactivity.
The fact that two identical batteries, bought on the same day and used in exactly the same way, produced such different results raises a legitimate question about the consistency of Bosch product quality.
I contacted Bosch customer service to explain the situation. The response I received: "it can happen". No commercial gesture, no concrete solution.
I make no legal claims here — it is up to each person to assess whether the concept of a hidden defect may apply to their own situation. But as a consumer, I consider this response wholly inadequate given the price of the product and the legitimate expectations one is entitled to have.
I am sharing this experience in the spirit of transparency, so that future buyers can make an informed decision.
🔎 What to know before you buy: even when well maintained and barely used, a Bosch eBike battery can fail within just a few years. Factor that into your purchasing decision.
