Do not use this company. I made a 'fully refundable' booking, which I paid an extra charge for as I was aware that my travel plans were likely to change. Turns out that it is not FULLY refundable as they have a hazy fee policy which allows them to make a charge for refunding. They screwed up the refund then made a further, totally unauthorised, charge to my card without prior notification which they completely failed to respond to when I complained. Scammers.

The ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. We understand about the bad weather. The problem was that we were not advised. Thank god we got to the ferry office early in the morning otherwise, we would had been stuck in Zadar.

Bookaway sold me a bus ticket to a bus ride which did not exist. Due to the circumstances, I was forced to spend lots of money on a taxi and a night at a hotel. When I informed Bookaway, they denied responsibility for the circumstances and told me to take up the issue with the bus company, who claimed that that bus did not only exist (!) but that I had also been on it !! I was absolutely shocked by the total lack of responsibility taken by Bookaway, who continues to sell this bus ticket online even after having been informed it doesn’t exist, and has of course neither apologized to me nor compensated/reimbursed me.
Update: Bookaway refunded me the cost of the bus ticket

Bookaway has great customer service. There are real people behind the scenes here that care about their customers. I had some personal things go on and they took care of me. I honestly was so touched. We just really don’t receive Customer Service like this these days. Please give this company your business.

They let you believe this is THE bookingagent in the country and you pay double the amount for a train ticket. You pay double for services you dont even want. Dont buy your ticket here and check with the local companies first. After you make a complaint they offer you 10% discount on your next booking. So pay double again and get 10% discount, sounds like a great deal! Scammers! Will never ever use their services again.

I had a very disappointing experience with Bookaway.
This was not a simple scheduling issue. The bus operator told me twice that my bus was not departing at the booked time. In reality, the bus did leave at the original scheduled time—twice. This strongly suggests overbooking, where my seat was no longer available.
Instead of being transparent, the operator gave misleading explanations about roadblocks and seat availability. Later it became clear that seats were in fact available—just not for me.
When I raised this directly with the operator, they were rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. Rather than acknowledging the issue, they deflected responsibility and provided contradictory information.
What’s more concerning is that Bookaway did not meaningfully address this. Their response was simply that I had taken the bus and that they would “take it up with the operator.” That is not a resolution. As a platform, Bookaway should ensure that operators provide accurate information and handle customers properly—especially in cases of overbooking and misleading communication.
Overall, this experience showed a lack of accountability both from the operator and from Bookaway as an intermediary. I expected a much higher standard of customer support.

I booked a trip with YourBus via book away, from Marsa Alam to Luxor and everything went very well. Your bus was very responsive via WhatsApp, they manage to organize a transfer for my last minute request. My driver, Abdel Kader was great, on time, drove safely. He even bought me some local food and drinks for the journey!! Your Bus was checking on me via WhatsApp during the trip.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my transfer that I made through Bookaway. Bookaway was very responsive to my email detailing what I would be refunded and the fees that wouldn’t be refunded. Their people kept me well informed on my refund process. Very professional, friendly and prompt.

I canceled a booking after being shown that I would receive a refund of $11.75. After completing the cancellation, BookAway did not issue the promised refund to my original payment method. Instead, they sent travel credit that I never requested and was not given any option to decline.
A refund and store credit are not the same thing. If customers are shown a cash refund amount during cancellation, that is what should be honored.
To make matters worse, their website says they usually respond within a few hours, yet I received no response after following up through their support system.
Very disappointing experience. Misleading refund process and poor customer service. If other customers experience something similar and are unable to get a proper response, remember that you can also contact your credit card provider to dispute charges when a service is not delivered as represented.
