I trusted BigIron Auctions to handle…
I trusted BigIron Auctions to handle the sale of several major assets—excavators, trucks, machinery, and other equipment—and it turned into one of the most expensive mistakes I’ve made in years.
Across three separate auctions, every single one missed expectations—not just my expectations, but the ranges and outcomes BigIron themselves indicated were likely. Instead of getting competitive bidding and strong exposure, I ended up watching quality equipment sell for well below market value, costing me tens of thousands of dollars.
In hindsight, I chose the wrong auction house. BigIron simply doesn’t deliver the buyer traffic, the national reach, or the competitive bidding environment they claim. A more connected auction company with real visibility would have produced a completely different outcome. Instead, my assets were undersold, poorly showcased, and ultimately pushed through at numbers that don’t come close to fair market value.
If you’re thinking about listing high-value equipment with BigIron, my advice is simple: don’t. Do your homework and use an auction house with stronger national reach and real buyer engagement. I genuinely wish I had.
I won’t be using BigIron again—and I think sellers deserve to know what they’re walking into.
