My review is fully based on the EY SENCO course.
I had my manager contacted by BPN because “all my work should have been finished by now.” in August 2026. I started the course in April 2026. It’s supposed to be 6 months so was due to finish in October 2026. I will give them credit where credit is due, I did have issues with my computer, and was struggling to navigate the system - so I hadn’t submitted anything as early as I had liked and was a bit behind, however, I had contacted BPN to inform them of this and they basically threatened to pull me from the course!
I did it all by the end of August, had it all submitted, then it went through IQA. Had 1 resubmit, it took 7 resubmissions for them to approve my work, and they only approved it because I contacted BPN with an extremely lengthy email, as my tutor had told me I had passed and that there was a technical error that had been resolved, I then had no communication with them for months and resubmitted my work 5x following our inital communications via email.
They then said my certification could take 12 weeks from the END of October because “the course doesn’t finish until then.” even though they put all of the pressure on me to submit my work in August. My work went through IQA within a day, so clearly was not a matter of how long it took to be marked!
They also do not really teach you how to be a SENCO, if you want to secure your role as SENCO then great, this course is probably good for you! But if you want to learn the role, I would honestly just talk to your current SENCO about training you. A lot of the questions refer to your own practice and you cannot pass them without being within a SENCO role and having done an EHCP etc.
Overall, the course was more hassle than it was worth. I passed feeling I knew nothing! All that I do know, is self taught.
Off to a bad start. Completed my first day of learning for my apprenticeship on September 9th. On that call we were told we would hear from our tutor about an induction meeting within 10 days. Two weeks later and I am yet to hear anything. Furthermore I have emailed my trainer and messaged him through their portal multiple times over the weeks and have heard nothing back. I phoned their support line and was told "I don't know what I can do to help you". Communication is very poor. Hopefully this can be sorted sooner than later as this is delaying everything. My experience thus far will make it very difficult to recommend them to others in future.

I am a nursery manager and used BP for the first time.
Communication from beginning to end as been outstanding and my staff member as come away very knowledge with a sound understanding of child development.
Maria Ahmed was very professional, supportive of learner and myself.
I will definitely be using BP for future training.
Thank you
My experience with Best Practice was mixed at first, my tutor did not communicate very well me. I changed tutors and the problem was solved. Sharon was amazing, she helped me prepare effectively for my End Point Assessment and I passed the course. Thank you Sharon Carter, you are an outstanding guide and mentor!

I can’t recommend my tutor, Maria Ahmed highly enough. She supported me every step of the way throughout my training journey. No matter how challenging a module felt, she always took the time to explain everything clearly and make sure I truly understood everything.
She was incredibly patient, supportive, and encouraging. Whenever I felt nervous or doubted myself, she reassured me and helped build my confidence. Her guidance didn’t just help me complete the course — it helped me believe in myself.

I did my Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship with BPN. Overall, I feel I learned lots and found the webinars helpful throughout. However unfortunately, I had 3 different tutors for the duration of this course which made it hard for me to have structure and I found each time it changed they were unsure of what the previous tutor had done with me. I found the tutors I had very helpful and they helped me achieve my distinction I just feel it would have been smoother had they not changed so much.

I really enjoyed my time on the course. I was able to learn so much on my time with Best Practice. My tutor, Maria Ahmed, was very helpful and guided me so well to achieve my distinctions.

Hi, I am glad we have received a silver reward as partnership with Best Practice Network.
The assessor (Maria Ahmed) currently have is doing an amazing job supporting the learners within the setting and some of them have successfully achieved their qualification whilst the others are still on their journey of being qualified. Maria is passionate about her job role and has shown great positive attitude towards her learners and is able to support them well during their time and with the changes that have come into play over time and we plan to give her learners in the future.

I found the course was broken down into smaller sections which you could choose what you wanted to work on and your choice

I really enjoyed the course was very informative.
The course should y been longer as 5 months is too short and it’s all cramed in.
As all practitioners are working full time and trying to complete the assignments.
Other than that highly recommended.
Thank you to all your hard work.

First Practice were very supportive and I enjoyed my time of learning with them at this age of my life. I didn’t think that I would be able to get through it but the support of my tutor the webinars and the other students definitely helped me to get to the end with juggling life , kids , work and all it’s ups and downs, I was very apprehensive about everything . However, having the coursebeing online made it easier to not have to leave the house and then negotiate travel and its tools are very useful and easy to use to navigate around.

Lots of information given, great help from all tutors. Some assignments are slightly repetitive and too much focus on chat groups in the webinars but overall easy to navigate and inciteful.

This course was presented very professionally at all times, with tutors constantly maintaining a high expectation of quality content and knowledge essential for SENCOs in all settings. They did a fantastic job of equipping us so well for our role as SENCO. The Best Practice Team were constantly supportive and accommodating, always quick to respond to emails or questions at all time. I would highly recommend this course!
