The bath veterinary group and its pharmaceutical giant pusher... Should be boycotted!
pleasant people at reception doesn't help you with the vets bills .. pushed to extortionate limits by the bath veterinary group ... Who are driven by The giant pharmaceuticals... Push for more meds and procedures in order to swell their coffers!!
How is it that independent vets... Do not have the horrendous prices... That this Massive machine.... Rolls on with!!!
The pet health plan..... What a scam .huge prices. . And increases..... I recently paid £31.99. And £22.99... increases for both cats... I paid ONE premium..... I need to change vets in order to afford vet visits etc
And was told an exit fee ..even after only ONE payment . ....Is £60 per cat, 😡
What planet are these people on and how do they justify that!!!
There is no care for the animals..... Ultimately... because they push people to give up.. their animals in droves!!
They should be investigated... They should be fined..... They should be boycotted 😡

The vets are lovely but the prices are horrendous and customer service is poor. I am still in shock at the thousands of pounds I have spend for less than 48hours of treatment. Have spent more time filling in forms than talking about the welfare of dog. Will be moving my pets as quickly as possible. The practice never used to be like this which is such a shame.
I have been lucky that my pets have never needed serious care until now but I shouldn’t have been ignorant of their prices etc. I wish I had shopped around before needing them at short notice as you are completely sucked into quick decisions etc whilst knowing they are charging you through the roof.
Awful money grabbing clinic
Awful money grabbing clinic. The managemet only care about profit and couldn’t give two hoots about the welfare of the animals they treat. Some of the individual vets are excellent, hence 2 stars, however it is luck of the draw whether you get a good one or a negligent one. Their complaints process is absolutely a waste of time and the practice manager, Sarah Dagger is extremely rude, obnoxious and aggressive, I would avoid like the plague and try Kelston Vets or the Bath Veterinary Clinic on Julian Road instead.
Bath Cat Clinic
I made an appointment to have my 18 year old cat, Milly, put down. Because Milly is very distressed in her cat carrier I asked for an early appointment so that we didn't have to wait. I was offered 9 am, their first appointment, and we were expected and seen immediately. The family and I said goodbye to Milly in the waiting room, then the grandchildren waited there while my son and I went to the consulting room with Milly, to sign the consent form. The vet was friendly and kind. Throughout there was a calm, unhurried atmosphere, for which I was very grateful, and I felt that the Cat Clinic had gone out of its way to accommodate us.
Not all vet practices in Bath are as considerate of their customers, so I was extremely glad I'd opted for Bath Cat Clinic. My only thought is that this practice is expensive. It would be marvellous if pensioners, students and people on some benefits could be offered a discount.
Special thanks to bath veterinary hospital Recently attended bath vets for my…
Recently attended bath vets for my Dachshund Leo to be seen due to a painful back from there he had a operation by Cate and Ted vet practitioners.I found the hospital to be excellent in every sense of the word I.e cleanliness experience and dedicated caring team which made you feel that your pet is in safe hands at all times excellent communication throughout his treatment and aftercare special thanks to Cate Khursandi for her expertise and going the extra mile for Leo coming in on her day off to operate that continued during his aftercare to the point of discharge can't thank you enough Cate for your commitment and care shown throughout Leo's treatment.
Best quality Service
Have always received the best service from start to finish with Station Rd vets. All the staff are exemplary, a real gem in Bath Vets crown. Jacob is so empathic and caring and takes good care of his patients and their family members.
All staff inclusive of Reception are warm, friendly, welcoming, show a genuine interest and are exceptional. Thank you all of you.
Vile & Money Grabbing Veterinary Group
Our pet insurance company refused to pay for medicine because money grabbing Bath Veterinary Group had applied a mark-up of well over 300%
When I called them out on it, they banned me from their Practice and stated they would refuse to treat any animal belonging to me, ever again.
An extreme and vicious response.
We switched to Kelston Veterinary Group and it has been a breath of fresh air - they are an independent company and have the wellbeing of your pet at heart, rather than ripping people off.
Bath Veterinary Group are greedy and only ever gave mediocre care to my pets at best.
They have a high turnover of staff because they exploit young vets & don’t pay them well - I had that directly from one such young lady on her last shift.
Being struck off happened a while back and I can’t remember the exact date so clicked on this month.
I am not surprised in the interim to see masses of other poor reviews and despite some years having passed, the upset to me caused by Bath Veterinary Group still rankles.
Absolutely first class service
Absolutely first class service. After our 11 year old cat had 2 seizures in 24 hours, we both thought the worst. We were referred here by Dave from Natures Vet and felt we owed it to our cat to get the tests required but after seeing him fitting we thought it had to mean permanent damage, or worse.
We were given an appointment the next day, and they made sure I had all the information I needed and checked we had insurance. They were a massive help sorting the claim, from getting the form to helping us fill it out. There is a large car park, chilled water in the waiting room, and a separate area for cats and dogs (as well as an enclosed garden to take dogs to)
We always managed to get through on the phone quickly and the reception staff were lovely.
Federica was fantastic, spending the time talking us through the potential issues, tests required, potential treatment and side effects. We were given so much information but it was explained really well. We didn’t ever feel rushed into making any decisions and she gave us plenty of time to digest everything. We knew that our cat was in the best place possible. He stayed overnight for 2 nights, but was closely monitored and we even got a text the next morning telling us he had a comfortable nights sleep.
Laura C was his best mate during his stay which gave us comfort knowing he was being fussed over 😻
After all the tests were completed we collected him and he was back to the cat we know and love, not the confused, howling, agitated one from a few days earlier. Albeit with a pretty serious haircut!
We were given a very detailed explanation about the Illness, the treatment plan and what to look out for, with a follow up visit next week.
It’s amazing what they are able to do, but the quality of care was top notch and we’re so incredibly thankful to everyone there for looking after our cat ♥️
night shift
we came in during the night to a calm vet and a peaceful environment. thank you very much.
Incompetent and greedy
I concur w many of the reviews and can add more:
+Continually new vets, little continuity
+Money money money
+Charged me £500 for suspected ‘cancer’ when it was a recurrent anal gland issue and should have cost £50 for diagnosis at 1st visit
+The vet hit my dogs head on table as he lifted him onto table - they didnt write this in their notes
+Their complaint policy is worthless: external routes suggested but vets wont engage w them
+when i requested a referral to a specialist they would only do it if i went in for another visit/pay them £50
I have been w them over 10 yrs and fortunately had not needed a vet for any serious issues until this yr. this year their incompetent greed has shone through and i have now left their practice: nice big car parks and spaces for my dog to pee in arent enough to keep me.
More money orientated than caring for animals..
More money orientated than animals... They squeeze you for everything. I was charged for the vet confirming after 10 seconds my dog had a limp from the video I taped. (even my children could see the limp!!) Vet did not even examine nor treat the dog at that appoinment... Asked to make another appointment. This is only one of the many grieviences I have with Rosemary Lodge. They use to be good with great customer service but now they all seem to read from the same script. Get more money from the pet owners!! Animal care is secondary to the ££ and they don't seem bothered.
Joe Cocker another grass seed
I recently had to take my beloved dog Joe to have his monthly librella injection for arthritis - unfortunately the night before he was due to attend he picked up another grass seed in his left ear. This was no problem as our vet Guilia who always shows so much love and care to our dog immediately had him sorted under a mild anaesthetic and he was home early afternoon. They have always given Joe the very best treatment for which I am very grateful.
Can't fault the service but the prices? Ouch!!
Can't fault the cleanliness, politeness and excellent care. the young lady vet I saw was very caring and informative.
When I got to the counter I thought I had missheard the receptionist when she told me how much I owed, I got the same treatment for 25% of this at my last visit to the practice in Peasedown St John before it merged with BVG. Sadly this is always the case in these situations, they develop the corporate greed mentality and now they seem to have a stranglehold on the immediate area. Does this mean families on lower incomes will have to deprive their children of pets? I certainly would have struggled to have found what amounts to a weeks food shopping when my kids were all at home.
vets
ok first of all.. they do seem to be more money orientated than caring for pets. but each time ive used them they have been nothing but lovely. last week i had to rush my kitty bambie to rosemary lodge on sunday 26th dec. was told on phone have to pay 156 quid. as my cat has insurance i did tell them that all i had to pay was the excess. yet they insisted before seein my pet.i had to pay. i went there at 10pm at night with my cat. she was seen late. but was seen. the vet i had spoke little english but knew what was wrong. i refused to take her home until she was better. she was there for 2 days.i had updates daily and she was not eating as she was terrified. in the end all i had to do was pay the excess and she was cared for.they are the best hospital for animals. when you lose a pet.they always send you a condolence card. they may be money oriented and want lots of money off you when insured.but would offer to put down pet if didnt. but they always put the animal first. one thing that is annoying.is that my vets is chapel in melksham. they chop and change their vets so many times that .before you get a chance to see same one each visit.its always a different one.that you have to keep repeating the problem each visit
Tried to make an appointment through…
Tried to make an appointment through their booking system and it did not work saying phone the group. Phoned to book an appointment to give my dog a tapeworm tablet to return to EU (not a UK dog no health certificate required) they would not administer a tablet, not something they do!!!! Wow or is it woff. Found another vet who was happy to do this and got my appointment.
I used this vet group since 2010…
I used this vet group since 2010 (11yrs) sadly each year the group has lost abit of its morals and in turn appeal for me. When I first joined the group generally went out their way to help their animals and their owner's but in recent years they are nothing more than a money making bussisness. The last 3 years with this group has been nothing but miserable, a few issues from the last 3yrs, large dog breed being invited to attend the cat clinic; vets not informing me about my practice changing to a cat clinic. Rude staff, lack of empathy/euthnics/morals. My actual cats details never seem to easily come up, compassion for animals thrown into the abyss........ The pet plans also a waste of money specially when they refuse to give you the treatments you have paid for which is whats happened to both myself and people I know its shamefull. If you think your doctor surgery Receptionists are something else then you havent meet bath vet groups receptionists they are next level when dealing with sensitive issues and seem very out of place. I used to recommend this vets but I wouldnt anymore they literally just want your money. Reason I left this vet group was Animals don't come first, lining pockets is their game.
Disgrace
After taking my dog here over the bank holiday weekend as she was very poorly was told on first visit she has a temperature and to bring her back the following day to be seen on arrival by a different vet Nicola who Said my dog has meningitis and after the money we had all ready spent told us it would be 5 grand plus!!! Then as we didn't have this money was told to apply for the grant which was refused after several emails phone calls from them to get this money for my dogs treatment I was in absolute dispair my family was so upset as being told by Nicola my dog could become blind and if treatment didn't work death...the only option I had was to borrow money from my family as it was such a large amount and rosemary lodge pushing for payment it seemed to me that money was all they were worried about not my dog so I decided to get a second opinion and took my dog to batheaston vets.the receptionist was kind and caring towards us as was the vet after looking at cookie they told us she had an EAR INFECTION hence the temperature my dog has been treated and is totally back to her happy self...how can rose Mary lodge miss this!!!!! Meningitis and 5 grand plus shame on yourselves you should be shut down..DO NOT SEND your pets here..
Friendly and great value
We have used this vets for our puppy and it has been a great experience. Their Pet Health Club plan is a great value especially since we feed the food that gets discounted with it, so it pays for itself. It also includes full puppy vaccination course plus yearly booster, two health checks a year, nail trims, and monthly parasite meds. Their consultation prices are standard and clearly listed on their website. However vet costs are always high, especially for serious injuries, so make sure you have pet insurance if you don't think you could afford an unexpected bill of £500+. Vets go to school for 6 to 8 years and the supplies they use are pricey!
Very unhappy with their customer…
Very unhappy with their customer service. On reading other comments I'm not massively surprised now. They have been very rude to me as well and not responded to my complaint about their extortionate prices and lack of customer care when I visited to get one of our cats vaccinated in the summer - in fact they made me feel like some walking mass of virus! I am aware of the dangers of COVID having been a key worker during lockdown, but also am highly trained in customer service and safety in retail, I'm very hygienic - wash my hands all the time and wear a mask and having dealt with the public day to day throughout lockdown I made sure my customers felt ok and safe in such weird circumstances, I did not make them feel like they were muck spreaders. I've been a customer of Bath vets group for years, and am an experienced cat owner. They never used to be like this - so what's changed Rosemary Lodge??? They were once absolutely superb and lovely on reception. I'm also now horrified at the way they've been treating customers on a low income - it stinks of corporate greed which in my opinion has no place with a veterinary service. Animals and their wellbeing must come first with any vets. I objected to the cost of the booster vaccination for my cats this year, and asked why. No answer. Then tried to get some stronghold on prescription - but again it was very expensive, and they were very obstructive to me doing a repeat prescription. So I just left. I'm with another vet now, who explained why vaccines cost such a lot (greedy drugs companies) but the flea treatment and pet club isn't so expensive with the new vets. But above all, the new vets treat me like a human being, not a cash cow. And I feel safe with them handling my cats. And I truly think that if, god forbid, either of my cats got ill, unlike Rosemary lodge, they wouldn't hold my cat to ransom. I can only think because they have a hook up with Bath cats and dogs home they can easily 'rehome' someone's pet if they can't afford the treatment. Interestingly Rosemary Lodge were highly snooty when I told them I'd got my cats from other rescue organisations...and once asked me why I hadn't used Bath Cats and Dogs instead. The other small but irritating thing they did was continue to send email reminders to get my other cat vaccinated despite me informing them I'd left. All very silly, and stank of petty behaviour on the receptionists part. I emailed again and again politely to tell them I'd left and to take us off their books, I got a one line email back after the latest one, saying they would but with no hello or sign off. Very very bad customer service.
Wanted to charge £106 for flea treatment during COVID 19
Wanted to charge for a video call £43.00 per cat (I have two) so that I could get flea treatment, a service that is usually free. As my cats have not been seen within a year they are unable to prescribe flea treatment. Stronghold is prescription only and other flea treatments do not work. They are aware that one of my cats is allergic to fleas and ended up on steroids a year ago when she pulled out a considerable amount of fur. I just do not have £106 in the bank spare at the moment for flea treatment! This is profiteering at its finest. What sort of vet does this at the expense of a cat being really unwell? Feel this is very unfair considering I would have taken both cats to the vets for free consultation if it was not for the current COVID 19 situation. I agree with other comments receptionists are very rude.
