Used Barlows to test electrics in house before selling, great service team were very professional and found minor issues which they fixed. Reasonable price and very friendly service. Would recommend, in fact just called them about the new flat and having a quote prepared.
Barlows serviced our boiler on 30th April, at the same time the Technician did a drop test at the gas main and the pressure drop wes in excess of that allowed. He therefore shut off our gas supply Including the central heating. So as pensioners ( I was 81 at the time), a bank holiday weekend and an absolutely freezing start to May, we were left in the cold. On Tuesday 4th May, Barlows have us an estimate to run new pipework, the labour cost was close to £1000 per Technician per day, I considered this high and said so, but we were desperate to get our heating back. This was done by the Friday. However to get the whole job done took another 2 visits, numerous emails, many not answered, evasive or answers to an entirely different question given. Eventually a letter to Mr Barlow got the job completed on 18th August. However at no time did Barlows generally answer all the questions asked, blamed human error for not answering emails (a somewhat concerning admission for a company in the highly regulated gas and electrical industry) and generally failed to take any responsibility for the debacle. They are however good at taking the money, I sent a cheque by post on a Monday, it was out of our account by the Friday. How did we feel at the end, ripped off by a company that knew how desperate we were to get some heat back I to the house and how seemed determined not to answer questions or take any responsibility.
I purchased an integrated fridge freezer from Barlows which they also fitted for me and removed the old appliance. The fitting was excellent BUT at point of purchase I paid for the appliance and removal of old appliance and asked if there would be a charge for fitting, I was told that there would not be a charge as they only charge for American fridge freezers and range cookers.
6 weeks later I received a £75 bill from Barlows for fitting!
I telephoned to find out why I had been charged and explained what I had previously been told, the guy I spoke to was rude, unapologetic and very patronizing, he said that the manager was away and he would call me back..which he did.
The manager was very apologetic but clarified that this bill would have to be paid.
This is unacceptable customer service and extremely misleading.
I should have been told at point of purchase that there would be an extra charge.
The fitting service was excellent but communication and customer service is very poor.
A distressing encounter with Barlows after realising I had been substantially overcharged for a small job. The man I spoke to on the phone was rude, and seemed to be angry that I would dare question their fees. Avoid!
Great service from Barlows! Thanks for your help
Quoted £180plus vat to replace 2 outside lights....need I say more
Well sadly to say, i engaged Barlows of Malpas to replace a shower pump. It was back in August when Barlows started the work, and it is now November and still with no shower working. There have been a multitude of issues which i wont go into, but need less to say when things dont happen you ring their offices. Well then you are exposed to Extreme Rudeness, They say they will ring you back and dont and the worse of all is that you are asked to ring their suppliers to get updates, oh and they also lie to you
Beware this company dont care a less about customers. Sadly i have now had to go elswhere based on the fact that we had a contract and Barlows have failed to deliver
used Barlows today ,after waking up to no electricity in my house, spoke to Matthew at their office ,who informed me a technician would attend before 12 o clock , young man arrived very shortly after speaking to Matthew and diagnosed my fault a rcd circuit breaker in the bathroom for my fan & lights , went out and purchased a new one and had me sorted all before 12 ,thank you Chris ,absolutely great service ,
I had a full house rewire 2 years ago and after a subsequent house refit some problems came to light. But despite the warranty having run out they came out again and fixed everything up without charge.
Fair play to a great British company!
