Title: A breath of fresh air over the phone

I've dealt with a lot of customer service recently and most of it has been frustrating, so my call with Konstantinos at Balfe's Bikes was a genuine breath of fresh air. He was knowledgeable, engaging and genuinely helpful, and took the time to actually listen and talk things through rather than rush me off the phone. It's rare to come away from a call feeling like someone cared about getting it right. Thank you Konstantinos, credit where it's due!

Wonderful staff who really guided me through the process of getting my bike and accessories. They had a lot of patience and were a lot of fun to be around too. Will be going back for any issues I have in the future with my fresh wheels 🫡🫡

Amazing advice and support. Showed me how to use the electric pump and garmin. Very pleasant and competent.

Well the bike service is fine I think. But the delays for 2 weeks and the poor communication wasn’t great. I don’t normally go to Hackney and won’t again. The back wheel on my bike came off post service - it’s just a fold over clasp but really? They are understaffed and didn’t say and took me several phone calls and emails to get sorted.

Balfes took 5 weeks to perform a service and replace some parts. There were no updates. I had to ring to chase. And they managed to lose the locking wheel nut in the process for which there was no explanation or apology.

Staff were very helpful people that work there, there were informative and gave good advice. They kept in touch whilst the process was ongoing (cycle to work scheme), and made sure the bike was all good to go with accessories all fitted when I picked it up. Highly recommended.

Finlay helped me with an emergency small frame bag purchase and a set of fresh inner tubes for a London-Paris-London ride...escorting a precious niece. She is safely home and we had the best time together. Both bikes used are maintained by Balfe's Hackney. Such a great feeling knowing you guys backup my adventures.

I booked my bike in for a full service. The website showed a variety of available dates, I chose today as a drop off. I just took my bike to the store and was told that there would be an estimated 4 week !! wait before my bike would be ready. The store was completely full of bikes waiting to be serviced and the manager very apologetic. There is no indication of this on the website or booking confirmation email. I have no idea why the website is even accepting bookings. This is extraordinarily poor even by the current standards of getting a bike serviced in London.

Great and thorough service

Excellent service! The guys at Balfe's Bikes on Mare Street were brilliant; I took my wife's bike there this morning, as she was complaining it was "stiff" – not even a very helpful ailment description – and Constantine gave me loads of time and was really patient with me. I have no idea about bikes, but the service I got was patient and kind. They oiled the bike's chain and put it on a machine to test the wheels were turning properly. When we discovered the brakes were rubbing against a wheel, a mechanic come and balanced them, and they would not charge me for their time or expertise. I will definitely book the bike in for a full service when they are not so busy. Thank you Balfe's Bikes!

Bought couple of bikes from here. Went in to get help with flat tyre and was told soonest it could be looked at was 4 weeks. Consider after care requirements if purchasing from here.

I ordered bike and accessories online. They have a wide selection and prices are competitive. Delivery was scheduled for a day earlier than expected which I couldn’t accept but when contacted they were very helpful and rescheduled. Popped in to the Hackney store a week later and staff were very helpful there too.

I’m a professional bike fitter and regularly send clients to Balfe’s in Hackney. The staff are great, good range of bikes often at discounted prices. For cyclists who are not very confident at riding on the road, you can arrange a test ride and take the bike into London Fields, which is next door. Check requirements as you will need to provide ID. They also accept most cycle to work schemes without additional fees

The guys in the shop were very helpful, knowledgeable and returned my bike as good as new

Good customer care but team forgot couple of items from the order so more attention to details in future would be appreciated as had to remind several times.

The Guys at your Hackney Branch are great! Needed a first time bike for my son and the assistant was really helpful. A few days after receiving the bike my son got a puncher and I called the store and they saw us straight away and fixed the problem in 10 mins. Really great service. Thank you.
