Avaaz are an ethical organisation that I have admired for years now. They achieve so much good for our planet, and I am so grateful for all their hard work!

Written by the company
Avaaz is a global web movement to bring people-powered politics to decision-making everywhere. Avaaz—meaning "voice" in several European, Middle Eastern and Asian languages—launched in 2007 with a simple democratic mission: organize citizens of all nations to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want. The Avaaz community campaigns in 17 languages, served by a core team on 6 continents and thousands of volunteers. We take action -- signing petitions, funding media campaigns and direct actions, emailing, calling and lobbying governments, and organizing "offline" protests and events -- to ensure that the views and values of the world's people inform the decisions that affect us all. Ethical and Humanitarian
These guys are a grassroots organisation taking a stand on a number of ethical and humanitarian issues. Have always been satisfied in my dealings with them - and once more today. Wish there were more collectives of this kind!
They do great work
They do great work across lots of issues.
Ignore the reviews from the MAGA crowd
Avaaz are an amazing organisation
Avaaz are an ethical organisation that I have admired for years now. They achieve so much good for our planet, and I am so grateful for all their hard work!
I am happy about seeing that there are…
I am happy about seeing that there are people who have the strength to act in this very dangerous world and am happy to be able to give my tiny support.
Eyeballs and voices
Eyeballs and voices. This has been my understanding of the work, and the analysis by third party organizations is that Avaaz is important. I've been a member since their founding and have been quite satisfied with how they source and spend their money. Inside the organization, I understand that there are too many dudes behaving like dudes right at the top. Meanwhile, the work is getting done. Eyes on the prize, my friends.
The jury is in
The jury is in on the global economic/ecological crisis: we need a fundamental global economic upgrade. Avaaz has built a network capable of implementing such a solution, such as detailed at reconomy dot net, but instead only seeks contributions to fund incremental change. It uses a portion of these contributions to fund its organization's survival within the broken economy, trapping itself in the same amber for future archaeologists to dissect. But we, the living, the people, can see the way forward, and so we know that history's verdict is likely to be that Avaaz had the network of support to transform the economy to end poverty and hunger, and to restore the health of the world, and that there has been adequate dissemination of the actual solution being a fundamental economic upgrade, and so Avaaz is not only a part of the problem but is increasingly diverting support away from the solution, for which it offers zero support.
Was signed up without consent
Was signed up to a petition without consent. Presumably, someone just added my email to the petition and they have no checks to confirm by email, so was afterwards sent loads of spam about other petitions etc. The organisation seems legitimate, far as I can tell, and support important causes, but I will not support something that doesn't check if people are legitimately signing up or not.
I fully support Avaaz
I fully support these genuine petitions, led by a group of committed individuals with no financial gain, organised purely for the benefit of humanity.
I thought i was making a one off…
I thought i was making a one off donation, it seems it was a weekly/monthly deal, i see this has happened to a lot of other people, it's set up that you don't get to review what your paying it just pops up after you make your donation that they have taken the first month out of my account, i sent an e mail to them explaining it was not correct what they did, the answer was thank you for your contribution and they could see i had complained to my bank but no mention of a reimbursement, if that's the way they work there should be some government control over the way they collect donations ..
My Experience: No Issues Encountered
I have signed many of their petitions and also donated money from time to time. I have never experienced any problems with unauthorized withdrawals from my account. I’m not being spammed with emails either. So I don’t understand why so many people here report the opposite experience. Some claim it is a left-wing or even Marxist organization – well, no one is forcing you to sign the petitions if you don’t agree with them.
Withdrawing money without my consent
woke up this morning to a withdrawal on my bank account from Avaaz that I NEVER authorized. it was also set as a monthly direct debit.
I'm all for helping good causes and organizations BUT stealing our bank accounts info and our money without our consent?
you lost me there.
I donated a subscription for Palestine…
I donated a subscription for Palestine but now it seems the money goes to Avaaz
It is extremely difficult to unsubscribe
I should have read reviews
Avaaz claimed money from my account…
Avaaz claimed money from my account that I did not consent too. They also has the right to monthly withdrawals which I never authorised. It is being dealt by the bank and now authorities.
Accountability issues
My main doubt about Avaaz is the lack of transparency about their results. One gets frequent requests to support specific causes and/or to donate, but there never is follow-up about the results of those specific projects. Nor are there annual reports on the website, only an 'Our Victories' page with selected successes. For instance, yesterday I got a mail from 'Mary', an Ugandan woman among many who stand to lose their house because of a new oil pipeline. Theu ask for money to litigate. I am all for that, but it soes not motivate me to donate if afterwards I do not hear I thing about what happened. Can someone comment? Mariette? (you are more positive than I am).
I signed for one petition but can't get rid of them now
I signed for one petition. Since then I have been deluged with emails despite unsubscribing multiple times.
One of the problems is the emails come out under different first names, so when you unsubscribe to that email it is only to that sender. There are MULTIPLE MULTIPLE people behind these emails. Just NEVER sign one of their petitions or you will never get rid of these people.
Lot of research done and...
Lot of research done and.... Avaaz is a very integer organisation with lots of good results in many area's.
Power to the people in optima forma.
Phishing??
My experience is similar to those below and my inbox is bombarded due to third party emails, ironically some from the some from the corporate giants they are fighting against, selling on of emails possibly? Double standard’s definitely!
This is important work and you all do…
This is important work and you all do it so well! Thank you. I am sorry I cannot continue to be a recurring donor. You processed my account quickly and I appreciate that!
Avaaz supports equal rights for people and planet
Avaaz provides support to equal rights for all people and our planet. Especially to those who cannot hire expensive lawyers or those who are up against powerful politicians or corporations who focus on short term gains rather than a fair and prosperous world for all, including future generations. They provide active updates on what they have done with my support, be that in the form of just my signature or a financial contribution.
