I would give zero stars if I could..

I would give zero stars if I could... I have been an Audible customer since 2009. Over the years I have had issues with this company and their software...spent a good few hours talking to their customer services and technicians to resolve issues. Finally in 2024 I had enough. I decided to cancel my subscription but spoke with their CS to make sure I would still be able to access the books I purchased after I was not a member.
They assured me I would.
I can't...
There is nothing in my library, all my books have gone!!!! 15years of books GONE!
Shame on you AMAZON/Audible

I own over 300 Audiobooks

I have never had a problem with them, i have always been able to refund any Audiobooks that i am not keen on, All i have to do is use my Desktop PC and chat to an agent by using the online chat box, they have never refused a refund, i have even sometimes been a few hours into an Audiobook and not refused.

The app has crashed a couple of times in the many years i have used it, it does not concern me.

I do feel though that in order to get you to use a credit to get an Audiobook only the 5 star reviews are are shown until you click on see all reviews on a book.

I currently use the 24 credit for £100 a year, and i occasionally fork out for 5 credits every month or two.

Going back to refunds, the few manual refunds you get are only reset once a year then you have to chat to an Agent using the chat box, its easy.

Lovely staff poor UI & UX…

Lovely staff but the UI (user interface) is broken. "Your account" is basically settings only. If you signed up before Amazon bought Audible (2008) your Original Audible account doesn't exist but if you loathe Amazon as I do, do not delete your Amazon account because it deletes your Audible library and it's very difficult to fix and will never be the same.

Beware of disappearing titles

I've given audible 2 stars in recognition of the great pleasure I've had listening to over 500 books during the 10+ years I've been a member. However, I've realised recently that some of the books in my treasured library were going missing. I managed to find purchase email confirmation for some and get those ones re-instated through customer service (despite my questions I was not given any explanation as to why this had happened), but they now appear to have disappeared again. These are books I've bought so if they disappear it feels like theft. I also don't like the way you can't cancel your membership without losing your library. Again, these are books I've bought and I don't think my access to them should be dependent on a continuing subscription payment.

Check your adverts Audible - this is not OK

I am a regular Audible user and find the service convenient and reliable.
I was very annoyed therefore to be presented with a Facebook advert from Audible suggesting I download The Islamic Antichrist - a crank book which is of only very niche interest to some very dodgy people.
It is NOT ok audible to flash up hate-mongering content in the feed of your other social media platforms.
Whilst I reported this inappropriate advert to Facebook, I've found no way of raising it direct with Audible themselves - hence this review here.

Customer service.are is unwilling to support me.I have recorded the book on my other phone. So when audible email me I will send them a copy

While I'm listening
A book on the app on my phone. It decides to skip chapters. So if you go on to chapters press chapter 1 starts playing Press.Chapter 2 it goes to chapter 3 and so on. You cannot listen to all the chapters because the chapters list only goes up to 15 , but I think there's more than 30 chapters i was told last night that I needed a laptop why. Audible, are unwilling to sort it out.It happens on 80 percent of my books

Never fail to show how they hate the Brit reader

The app takes an age to load.

This is because it never fails to try and sell me the book of some low life - typically Boris Johnson or that idiot royal everyone in Britain hates.

The result is I hate Audible, and the arrogant losers responsible - because they signal that they hate the British customer.

An absolute customer service disaster

an absolute customer service disaster, Awarded me a bonus credit for a limited selection of 100 books when i tried to use it it stole one of my account credits.
Attempted to contact their customer services via their website was offered a choice of chat (ai bot?) with no viable chat options or to phone me back. Asked for a call back around ten times over the course of the day.
Never got a call and each time it said your call with us has ended!! 😳😔😠 Was thinking of moving to BookBeat exclusively anyway and probably will now as it is clear that service is not in the least important to Audible and they have no concern for their customers. Also in their sales they keep trying to sell me books i already own 😳 I finally looked up their phone number on the internet and was connected to an offshore CSR, who struggled to understand and wasn't aware of their systems or offers 😠😠dreadful line, which he tried to blame on my phone. Insisted on speaking to a supervisor (I suspect actually the guy in the next booth, I've worked in call centres) Every time i spoke the line became increasingly noisy until a made a comment on the coincidence of the poor line. Incredibly rich company with extremely poor infrastructure and support. I could go on but I'll settle for a glass of wine instead 🍷🧐

A Decade with Audible: Great Books, But the Service Slipped and Now I’m Out

I’ve been an Audible member for a solid 10 years now, and honestly, I’ve enjoyed it for the most part—great selection, easy to use, and it’s been my go-to for audiobooks on long drives or lazy weekends. But their customer service has really gone downhill over the past few years, and it’s pushed me to the point where I’m signing up elsewhere.
Case in point: I recently ordered a series of 3 books, gave them a fair shot, but just couldn’t get past book 2—it wasn’t my cup of tea. So, I returned it along with the 3rd one since I knew I wouldn’t listen to it. Next thing I know, I’m slapped with a ban on returning anything at all! This isn’t what I expect when they’re always bragging about their “easy return policy.” Feels more like a bait-and-switch to me. Anyway, after a decade of loyalty, I’m taking my business elsewhere—pretty disappointed it’s come to this.

Did the chat they had an issue not…

Did the chat they had an issue not allowing me to review although my listening history shows I had completed over 80 books theirs showed me completing 1. In 30 min of chat i got a message telling me to call their system as this was not fixable.
I really wish they were not the only game in town as this is just unacceptable

Audible subscription is a scam

Audible subscription is a scam. They give you credits to buy books when you want but if you want to cancel you subscription they take all tour credits away (like you didn'tpay for them ). You can pause your subscription but they will restart it without any notice to you. So you are kept in a loop because you don't want to loose what you paid for and so have to keep paying..

I love listening to books on Audible, but the customer service is terrible. I wanted to downgrade my subscription and it basically isn't possible without deleting my account and starting again.

Unauthorised Payment and Poor Customer Service

I am extremely disappointed with Audible’s handling of my subscription payment. Without my authorisation, Audible charged my business card after failing to take payment from my registered personal card. At no point was I informed or given the opportunity to update my payment method before they unilaterally selected an alternative card from my Amazon account.

This has caused significant inconvenience, as the business card is not intended for personal expenses. When I contacted customer service to request a refund and ensure the correct payment method was used moving forward, I was met with unhelpful responses and no clear resolution. They wanted to refund in 7-10 days but take new payment today. As of right now I have paid twice and have to untangle the company implications.

This is a clear breach of trust and poor practice, and based on my experience, I would advise others to be extremely cautious when linking any payment methods to their Amazon account if they also use Audible. A company should never assume the right to charge a different card without explicit consent.

I am now considering escalation of my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards and will be reconsidering my use of Audible going forward. Extremely disappointing service!

Am I allowed to say stupid and selfish…

Am I allowed to say stupid and selfish these days? I've used Audible for years and these people have had a lot of money from me, especially in my days of two accounts to keep up with how much I was listening to this content. No, at a time I have lost many listening hours due to a terminal illness, I wanted to restart while I can and this is the time these idiots bloat the app to a point when my old phone is apparently not able to carry that software burden. I understand why the industry forces us to upgrade devices, but I am not having it. I contacted Audible to see if their geniuses had a simpler option without all the unnecessary bloating/ possible spyware? The simple answer was No, push off. Unacceptable. They tried to be customer focused once (I think) no sign of that now and their score here seems to confirm that. I won't threaten to leave as I probably will be soon anyway, not by choice, but I want to UNDERLINE how bad Audible are now, how unreasonable they are in terms of demanding we buy new devices to listen to content that simply does not require that technically. Audible are a disgrace and I am not the only person who does not want to be forced into upgrading or going onto to ridiculous monthly contracts to listen to a book.

These bad reviews of Audible are unfair…

These bad reviews of Audible are unfair and suspicious in my view. The subscription is good value for an Audio book and has not increased for years. Books which you have bought are yours to keep. The plus catalogue has a number of very high quality items. Audible is one of the best subscriptions on the Internet today and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

No issues

As someone who finds reading more difficult these days due to medication and menopausal brain fog, I find Audible to be a great second option when I want to get through a book quicker. It's easy to listen to at home through the app on Alexa and walking with my pods in when needed. No heavy book, cumbersome book taking up my bag and space in my home. However it's also nice about sitting in a cafe or on the bus with a book. I get Audible as an addition with my Amazon Music subscription so I don't pay the £7.99 for one credit and just instead get one book at a time to listen to. I'm not someone who has multiple books on the go at once, so it suits me fine,

Begging isn’t attractive

Paused my account for 3 months - no reminder that it restarted. Charged
Had 3 credits, chose 3 books all utterly rubbish - don’t know if there is a snippet you can listen to first I didn’t see one but it would save wasting a credit. Not paying for monthly subscription so cancelled…they beg you to stay through three screens of please don’t go and now I have an email offering half price for three months. No
