It just doesn't work

It just doesn't work, it's completely useless! It is so slow, it would need one year to succeed at saving 100Gb but the back up always fails anyway.

What I mean is ZERO stars

What I mean is ZERO stars. The 1TB storage I purchased months ago simply is not happening: in its place I have 3GB [which is useless]. My complaints get nowhere. Contract law? Consumer law? This "service" is so lacking in what the buyer has bargained and paid for that it completely lacks integrity. How could you trust such a "service" to look after precious data? I can't. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

Constant spam and pressure to upgrade

Constant spam and pressure to upgrade. I have an ASUS laptop and have always got on well with it, but the web-storage is a joke.. or perhaps a scam. Either way I get email after email saying I need to upgrade all the time. Doesn't feel like my data is secure - it feels like it's being held to ransom!

Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I ordered Web Storage 22/11/23 1Tb £19.99. The website stated downloadable app with auto scheduler was available called Auto Backup. Signed up, downloaded app and found scheduler was disabled in app, not upgradeable and therefore manual operation only. Emailed Asus WS customer support requesting refund 22/11. They advertise a 30 day unconditional refund guarantee. No reply. After 5 days I emailed them again (27/11) and received a reply same day requesting I fill out a report form which I did and submitted 27/11. The report form mentioned again the unconditional refund guarantee and said it would take 3-4 days to review the eligibility for the refund and the refund would be processed 2 days after their reply. No response so raised dispute with Paypal supplying screenshots etc. Still no response so emailed Asus WS again stating if no refund by 27/12 would escalate with Paypal. Five days later received refund on 25/12 via Paypal but no email or response from Asus. That's over a month of hassle when I submitted the refund request within a few hours of signing up. There's a reason for most of the reviews on TP being one star.

Agreeing with the issues, adding two issues

I have for several years only uploaded a few files and then never used them. But recently I was looking to offload a lot of data to the cloud, so used my ASUS Web Storage. I have now experienced almost every complaint mentioned here. When uploading seized up, in some cases the whole folder had to be restarted. What I'm not sure was mentioned here was that if I wanted to use my desktop during the upload, that would cause the upload to stop.

Another issue I just noticed is that the file dates all became the backup date - all the original file dates are lost now on the files I uploaded. That doesn't happen on real systems - if you copy a file, in the new location it still keeps the file date of the sent file. I can see that the upload date could be useful, but not at the expense of the real last updated date of the file.

Poor UX, GUI, Function Failure, NO Support

Poor UX, poor GUI, functional failure, system cannot support multiple source backup with no support provided 2 weeks after critical function failure ticket submitted. Price is great, but paying for something that does not work properly, with no support. I am leaving.

Unreliable, slooow, basicly unusable.

I've used both interfaces: web and local app. Although the local app is very nice (it emulates a drive) it is very slow: if I try to copy a 10GB folder within the drive (from the drive into the drive) it can take from 12h to a day to complete. Some times it does not complete. But the worst part is retrieving a 8GB file into your (really) local drive and, after restarting the process 3 times over a period of 2 days, end up with a damaged copy of the file, WITHOUT ANY WARNING. For a backup service is unrelieable, slow, unworthy of trust. You pay but you end up without peace of mind. Closed my account and changed provider... Oh! Not afiliated to ASUS, the hardware company.

Absolute rubbish, could never do a full back, could never recover a partial backup, support is in chinese. This is a borderline scam, and taints the ASUS brand.

Great service, not perfect on slow connections

Pretty good product, great value. But...
1. Uploading photos, I always get files that will not upload, no reason given.
2. Contact support is very difficult, always get the robot, not a human.
2b. at 7-Aug-2023 chat robot said this "We're sorry, but the support specialist is available during:
Every Monday to Thursday from 10am to 12am
Friday 10am to 4pm. (GMT+8)
(Excluding holidays and national holidays)"
... so is that 2 hours per day? or is that from 10am to mid-night?
2c. I asked what timezone they are in, but the robot chat doesn't understand that question.
3. Support Center is a joke. I go to Support Center, the login button is there, so I click login, and it takes me directly to my online files Web Storage. ! I'm already logged in!

The web version has issue uploading large files on a slow connection if it takes 20 hours or so to upload. I've been using it since 2020. It's always had this issue.
Update: It still has issues 7-Aug-2023

I have to keep trying over and over to upload large files. This takes many days as my upload speed is slow, so after a few hours it fails and need to start again. Not every time, but often enough :-(
The price and features are great, but I don't use the features, just want to store backups of photos and work files.

The support is not good, it's a robot in the live chat... I don't know how to chat with a real person for this paid service :-(

The robot implies that it's my fault, recommends clearing cache, restarting, restarting browser etc. Seriously... how can the issue persist 3 years!?
I wish it would just work, now have to find another solution.

Do you want to save your data on a Chinese Service ?

I got he offer from Asus for 1,20€/TB/month and really was really tempted to try the service.
Anyway - needing 4TB and certainly.not only for one or two years, I decided to send a message to the service.

This is what I got back.
So I would be sending my data directly to the Chinese ? Ehm, thank you - but no, thank you!

I was amazed at the amount of 1 star…

I was amazed at the amount of 1 star reviews and negative experience. I think I can chalk it up to operator inexperience. I have experienced none of the problems here. My file manager id Total Commander and it works flawlessly to manage files. I use this cloud service mainly to share genealogy, movies, and videos with other family members who have had no problems downloading a file from my URL provided. I have never once had a glitch. It does not have the friendliest user interface, but it does function as advertised.

The Asus webstorage application does not perform its functions

I have payed for this service for two years, and now I discovered that it does not perform its functions. The folders that I set to synchronize have indicated ``last modified time" 2020-06-23. I requested to download one of the folders and found that it is really two years old. However the application on my computer, that is always on, says ``finished sync''. And on the page it continues to display the ``last modified.. 2020..".
So, the program keeps giving conflicting information and makes it impossible to transfer my folders to my new computer.

PC Client is horrible.

The normal price is about the same as others while the promotional price is low so I decided to sign up for it. However, its pc client is horrible. It crashes windows explorer randomly and frequently (like every 5-10 minutes). There is virtually no support. This is unbearable.

Avoid as Google and Norton are blocking website

I have been using ASUS webstorage for nearly 2 years. Yes it is clunky to use, slow to upload and down load, changing moving up and down through the directories is painful.
I could not get the app downloaded so I could used it in my file management system - windows file explorer.
Over the last couple of mouths is has been more usable but today Norton and Google have both warned and Blocked access to their site.
Now to find a way to get to and delete all my file on the Webstorage.
Avoid this product. Time for me to look for another solution.

Stay away

Others are stating that this is not affiliated with the computer hardware company Asus. I am not certain if that is the case or not. I first heard about Asus WebStorage via an invitation card that came with my Asus motherboard in 2014. Entirely possible it's changed hands since then. Communications from the company are in broken English, lending to the idea of this possibly being a scam.

On to the service itself. I've used it for a few years. Again, I thought this was the motherboard manufacturer Asus which is why I even signed up.

Every aspect of it is horrendous whether you're a desktop or mobile user. The upload speeds are fairly slow on my gigabit home internet connection, at just a few pictures per minute with many going to the fail/retry queue. Maybe 1 out of 3 files will upload successfully the first try be it on a desktop web browser or through their mobile app. The download speed when getting your files back is far worse however. I am currently trying to download everything I have on Asus Webstorage so that I can close my account and upload them elsewhere. The download speeds are maxing out at a mere 300k. As of time of writing, it is sitting at 0. I cannot think of the last time I saw something download so slowly and inconsistently from a supposedly professional website regardless of physical server location. It will take up to days for this complete if I even can. Last time I attempted this the download failed and Asus Webstorage does not have an option to resume where it left off like other services. It's all or nothing.

The site also has many careless glitches. When you want to reset your password, the link just goes to the regular login screen. Better remember your password if you want to break free of Asus Webstorage. Steer clear.

Update: I did manage to get a fair few of my files back but beware, when you choose to download all your files from the site it will not download all of them. For example, I have 1500 pictures. I selected all and tried to download. It gave me a zip folder with 580 of them. The others I'm having to go in and manually download one by one. When I try to download these, it just gives me yet another folder of only the first 580.

Stay Away! NOT ASUS

Stay away! Asus Webstorage or Cloudstorage is NOT affiliated with Asus the hardware company. I think this one is located in Taiwan and it is a scam. Look for a cloud service that offers end to end encryption and is located domestically. Otherwise you have no idea what laws they follow and they will sell your data and information and install malware on your system.. all while paying them to do it.
