I had a BAD EXPERIENCE!

I had a BAD EXPERIENCE with this company, which has cost me a lot of time, effort and money to rectify. The phasing of the project was very poorly managed and pretty much everything on the job went wrong.

The quotes they give are NOT quotes but estimates! I understand additional payments for new items but I did not expect a much higher invoice for items already agreed and priced.

Ash Tree Care laid a concrete slab for an outdoor patio, which was so rough and badly laid, with the fall going in the wrong direction towards the house, it cost me over £1K to have it rectified.

I had purchased 6 laurel trees and Jacob planted 3 in the wrong location - not as we had discussed.

Jacob also installed a geogrid with gravel to my front drive. He laid 10cm of gravel above the geogrid which I have had to remove myself and leave only 2-3cm of gravel as advised by the manufacturer. This took a very very long time and was utterly frustrating. In the meantime, the drive was unusable!

Jacob ordered the new turf, by mistake, 4 days before it was laid. As it was one of the hottest weeks of the year, my husband and I had to water the rolled-up turf every hour throughout the day and evening to keep it alive. Luckily we work from home so this was possible. When it was eventually laid, it looked half-dead and extremely patchy. The grass was not laid to the edge of the border. Jacob reassured us that it will ‘come alive’ within a few weeks. 8 months later and it looks absolutely dreadful. It is EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY TURF compared to other contractors' products! So if you want good turf, look elsewhere!

Jacob forgot the work towards reducing the size of an existing rockery, as was already agreed. So he had to bring a digger after the turf was laid, damaging the dead-looking turf even further.

I have had a second opinion from a landscape professional and the grass is beyond saving. So I am having to pay for a completely new turf now!! I gave Jacob from Ash Tree Care the opportunity to rectify or refund for the poor product and workmanship but this was brushed off.

At the time of invoicing, when I asked for the work to be rectified, I was met by abrupt and bullying messages. So now I have a terrible lawn and am back to where I started!
