The fact that I had to change my vets so quickly an have emgency treatment an that it's been paid but it's ongoing I'm so pleased as was worried as no notes have been passed over yet

I have used this company for several years now, they've been the best pet insurance company I've ever used. Their claims process is easy, with a portal for my vet to make claims directly. They've never quibbled about a claim within my policies, I would highly recommend them.

Declined claim for supposed “pre-existing condition”
Switched to Animal Friends last year when my Petplan premiums for my two cats were doubled and they wouldn’t budge on the price. All was fine until recently when my vet recommended I take my younger cat to the cardiologist as they had noticed a possible heart murmur during her annual checks/vaccinations. As this was the first time it was mentioned to us, we quickly asked for a referral to get booked her in for the scan, and she was seen to a couple weeks later. We claimed on the expenses for the cardiologist and Animal Friends has just declined our claim and any future claims regarding this stating that her veterinary records show that she has had a murmur since June of 2024, which made it a pre-existing condition. We adopted her when she was a kitten in June of 2024, and a murmur was never mentioned us until her vaccination appointment last month when they recommended we get it looked into. This is incredibly frustrating as if I knew about any murmur, I never would have switched her off her original insurance on PetPlan where she would have been covered. I believe my vet would have told us about any concerns they had with her as they have always taken good care of both of our cats so I fully believe this is a misstep on the insurers part and am incredibly disappointed in this outcome and lack of compassion during a stressful time.

I can see that your policy was taken out on the 18th July 2025. Any conditions noted prior to this date will be classed as a pre-existing condition, and we will be unable to provide cover for this.
Upon review of your pets medical history, I can see that your vets confirmed a soft murmur on the left sternum was noted on the 20th June 2024.

Always a positive experience
I thoroughly recommend Animal Friends. Despite my cat getting older and having increasing more treatment, Animal Friends continued to reimburse me for his various conditions. I stayed with Animal Friends most of my cat's lifespan as they always offered a competitive and reasonable renewal. My vet never had any issues with putting in claims via the pawtal.
