Anglian Water continues to demonstrate…
Anglian Water continues to demonstrate a level of ineptitude that would be astonishing if it weren’t so consistently repeated. Their handling of pipeline leaks is nothing short of shambolic. Issues that should be resolved promptly instead drag on for weeks—sometimes months—while customers are left dealing with the consequences of their inaction. The lack of urgency is palpable, and the communication around these failures is even worse.
For a company that charges some of the highest tariffs in the sector, the return on investment for customers is abysmal. You’d expect premium pricing to correlate with premium service, yet Anglian Water seems determined to prove the opposite. Their pricing structure feels increasingly detached from the quality of service delivered, raising serious questions about value, accountability, and priorities.
What truly compounds the frustration is the sheer disregard shown toward their customer base. Interactions with the company often leave you feeling dismissed rather than supported. Concerns are brushed aside, explanations are vague or contradictory, and any sense of responsibility is conspicuously absent. It’s difficult to avoid the impression that customer experience is an afterthought rather than a core obligation.
In an era where transparency and service standards should be improving, Anglian Water appears stuck in a cycle of complacency—overcharging, underperforming, and showing little respect for the people who fund their operations. Until they address these systemic issues, it’s hard to view them as anything other than a utility provider that has lost sight of its duty to the public and one that is in sole pursuit of profit and shareholder dividends.
No supply for 30 hours
No supply for 30 hours. No information, no alternative water supply. I actually bought water for neighbours including a couple in their 80s and the wife was recovering from cancer. When I queried the offered compensation they said it never happened. Total scum. The woman just kept repeating the company line. Total scum.
Clear and crisp
I got answers exactly on the points I have asked for, they r clear and crisp.
Excellent customer service by Claire
Today I used Anglian Water's WhatsApp customer service chat and I was helped by a wonderful agent named Claire. After the standard security questions, Claire had quickly provided me with my Account number which enabled me to log in to the Anglian Water app. I mentioned that I had had a leak recently and wanted to confirm this was now fixed. Not only did Claire make enquiries with the leak team to put my mind at ease that the leaked had indeed stopped, she went above and beyond by arranging for me a leak allowance. This whole process was made very easy on my part all through the helpfulness and professionalism shown today. 5* customer service Anglian Water and a very appreciative customer here!
Incompetent, but being charged for it
For the 4th time in a month the water pressure in our area has dropped to close to zero. If it's not this, then it's the pumps partially failing every time there's a thunderstorm. They want to increase the amount we pay per year too.

Amazing customer service
I've spoken to Anglian water three times, once with Sarah and twice with Jackie. They're customer service skills are impeccable, they are very understanding and so friendly and seem like they will do anything to help you.
Just had a new digital water meter…
Just had a new digital water meter fitted and my bill has gone up 1000% they fitted a new digital meter to my neighbours house the same day 6th of january and caused a massive leak and just drove off. Contacted the company for an expalnation unfortuntaly still not resoloved. I advised them to cut my water off as it would be cheaper to buy bottled water from the shops!
Water leak on our property
We had the misfortune of a water leak from a faulty garden tap, spraying water at 'full bore' whilst on holiday.
We had a huge bill in November and confirmation that we had used 4x our normal usage.
After sending meter readings since then, we were able to confirm the water meter was working as it should, and that the leak was solely responsible for the expense.
Today I contact Anglian Water with a request to review my case and, despite us being technically 'at fault' due to it being our responsibility, a refund was issued based on our normal usage.
Madeleine was very personable and professional. Thank you so much!

I just spoke via whatts app chat to Anglian water customer services…
I didn’t even expect a reply tonght as Friday 5pm! But they did reply - fast and with no messing about asking for my life story!!
The customer service advisor literally sorted everything for me so quickly, was very understanding and polite and friendly, it was obvious I was not talking with a robot!!
I wanted to really give credit where credit is due because I have so many bad experiences with online and phone support over the last few weeks.
Well done Anglian Water!!
Typical No Logic Company
I have relocated from an old place and revised my new address to them. However, they are keep posting the over due bill of the old address to the old address. How can this logic work ?
Over a week of chaos.
Over a week of chaos.
A burst water main in the next village (Panxworth) is causing chaos - they have closed the whole road for over a week! A major trunk road (A47) nearby has night closures and large vehicles now have to use narrow country lanes - because AW have closed the only reasonable alternative route. The diversion signs are unclear.
Very self centred of them - pull your finger out - a whole new main could be installed in 2 days a few years ago.
With all the Issues I'm having with…
With all the Issues I'm having with certain places, they've been brilliant. Trying everything possible to help me get this issue sorted. All have been very polite, helpful and going out there way to help resolve it, and are going to keep an eye out on anything else they can help with. Thankyou all
Lack of service with hidden costs
Buying a new house and trying to find details of services going into property. Told to speak direct to Anglian Water. On speaking to them they stated we had to contact Digdat.co.uk. Anglian Water stated that this company held all plans of fresh water going into property and sewage services going out. Anglian water also stated this company would provide information free of charge.
When contacting Digdat they would provide maps of water services and sewage services but this would cost £34.80 per map.
Yet another example of utilities companies fleecing their customers when this is information they hold which they should provide for free. Surely we pay enough to these utility companies.
Hopelessly uncaring company
The ‘chatbot’ is utterly useless at answering questions…..and there’s no Ai or human that you can turn to. No wonder they’re amongst the worst Water Authorities in the Uk. This is what privatising a public utility gets you.
Efficient company
I have always been impressed with the service from this company.
The staff are friendly, polite and always able to solve any queries.
Its very good they provide a leak allowance and especially good they can see any issues from the Smart meters.
Plus they answer the phone straight away.
Thank you to the gentleman l spoke today regarding my outside tap exploding and lots of water everywhere!
Anglian water incompetence.
I have owned a property for 23 years, and it has been rented for the last 12 years. Supplied by Anglian Water - has water meter. No issues with water supply. A few weeks ago, I was informed by the tenant that Anglian Water had installed a 'smart meter', and since then he has been getting excessive water bills.
There is no evidence of any leaks, no damp ceilings, no drop in pressure, no leaking appliances, no hissing/ gushing noises, no cistern or toilet leaking. As suggested on their website, the stopcock was turned off and meter reading taken and restarted some hours later.
This has been reported back to Anglian water by the tenant - yet they INSIST they will not come out until a qualified plumber has investigated and produced a report.
Absolutely ridiculous - anyone with half a brain cell would realise the temporal link between fitting a smart meter and suddenly excess water bills.
This is the way private utility companies make their profit. Wash (pardon the pun) their hands of all responsibility. They will only speak to the account holder - so cannot complain directly to them - if you can find their complaint email on the website.
