Months of problems, missed appointments and an installation that still isn't finished
I rarely leave reviews like this, but my experience with Anglian has been extraordinarily frustrating.
I ordered replacement bay windows and aluminium bifold doors. The sales process was slick and I was initially pleased with the products, but the installation and aftercare have been a completely different story.
During installation, one pane of the new bifold door glass was broken, leaving part of my brand-new bifold effectively single glazed.
A service appointment was subsequently arranged for 3 June. I took a day off work to be at home, only to receive a call on the morning of the appointment telling me they wouldn't be coming because they didn't actually have the replacement glass.
That wasn't even the first wasted day. I had previously taken another day off for Anglian's scaffolders, who simply didn't turn up. When they eventually arrived on the following Monday, I witnessed behaviour from members of the scaffolding crew outside my property that I considered completely unprofessional, to the point that one of Anglian's own installation team intervened.
After the cancelled June appointment, more than four weeks passed without Anglian contacting me with any meaningful update. I eventually had to raise a formal complaint.
What followed was weeks of chasing, delayed replacement glass and repeated promises of another appointment. Anglian eventually offered me £100 as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience.
Eventually, more than two months after the cancelled June appointment, an engineer attended on a Saturday to replace the broken glass and adjust an extremely stiff bedroom window.
I genuinely thought that would finally be the end of it.
It wasn't.
After the new glass was fitted, the bifold door developed a pronounced creaking noise when opening and closing. The engineer explained that the weight of the replacement unit was affecting the door and that another service visit would now be required.
I also showed him a defect on the inside fascia of the bifold. When he rubbed the affected area, the paint came away. That now needs attention too.
A seal on the bifold that had already come away was also not repaired.
And incredibly, despite repeatedly telling Anglian that I was never given the keys to my new bifold doors, and receiving written confirmation that keys would be brought to the remedial appointment, the engineer arrived without them.
So after spending a considerable amount of money with Anglian, taking multiple days off work, enduring a cancelled service appointment, waiting months for replacement glass and repeatedly chasing their customer service team, my installation is STILL not finished and I now need yet another visit.
To be fair, the person handling my formal complaint has been polite and helpful, and the engineers I've dealt with personally have generally been pleasant. My criticism isn't aimed at those individuals.
The problem appears to be the organisation behind them.
There seems to be a serious disconnect between departments, installers, service engineers, parts and appointment scheduling. As the customer, I've repeatedly had to chase Anglian to keep the process moving.
I chose a large national company partly because I expected the installation and aftercare to be more dependable. My experience has been precisely the opposite.
At this point I don't want another apology or another promise that somebody will contact me. I simply want the brand-new windows and doors I paid for to be complete, working properly and supplied with their keys.
Months after installation, apparently that is still too much to ask.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, this saga is still ongoing. Anglian have now decided that both affected bifold door leaves need to be completely replaced rather than repaired. I was told they had been ordered and that the factory had specifically been asked to expedite them because of how long this has already taken. I have now been told that, due to problems with Anglian's manufacturing machinery, the replacement leaves are expected to take a further two months to arrive, with installation planned for shortly afterwards.
This means I will potentially have been dealing with defects and remedial work on a brand-new installation for several months before everything is finally completed. Anglian responded publicly to my original review saying they were committed to resolving all outstanding issues to my satisfaction. I appreciate that they have agreed to replace the affected door leaves rather than attempt a cosmetic repair, but another two-month wait for supposedly expedited replacements is extremely disappointing.

First and foremost, on the day of the installation all went smoothly and efficiently. Unfortunately from the day of the consultation to the day of the installation I had to wait three and a half months having been told it would take two to three weeks. Had no contact from them explaining the delay so I called them to seek some clarification. All was resolved giving me a date. Apart from the delay I am very happy with the end result

Our initial quote for all replacement windows given by the salesman was incorrect because when the surveyor came he informed me that 6 lintels were required that the salesman should have known. We them had to renegotiate the cost. I was then emailed 2 incorrect contracts to sign as they had wrong window specification on. The 3rd was correct. An installation date was then given with the scaffolding to be erected on day one. They never turned up and when the installer arrived on day 2 and he rang the office and was advised the scaffolding request hadn't been processed. Thankfully the installer, Lee Appleby rang a scaffolding contact he knew to see if they could get a team to do the scaffolding and fortunately they turned up a couple of hours later. Lee came across issues with measurements the surveyor had taken which caused him additional work. From Lee turning up at my house he was fantastic, working on his own in heatwave temperatures, keeping me up to date as the installation was going along and completing the work to a standard we are extremely happy with. 5 star rating for Lee and 2 star rating for Anglian

Still operate as commission based “double glazing” salesmen!!! Any organisation that can drop its quote from £80k to £50k in a matter of minutes is not credible.

On the day of installation in August a pair of installers turned up. Very pleased with them and were with me for two and a half hours. Pleased with their work and materials supplied.
Order placed in March with surveyor around
In April. Wish I had been better informed when installation could be.

We had two upstairs widows and a £1700 composite door they rushed the job and finished in the dark ( we are in our mid eighties so we could not check what they had done . When we did check there were a lot of work not completed under the windows were left open to the elements. The door would not close properly and under the door was left open to the elements. I tried lots of phone calls and email to head office with no response. I have got a builder to fill in all the holes and the door had a faulty top hinge. STAY WELL CLEAR
OF THEESE PEOPLE.

Engineer came to fix an issue with the door. He was polite and helpful and kept in contact during the day to ensure I wasn't waiting in all day for him to come. He stuck to agreed time perfect and checked I was happy with everything before he left. His name was Marcus Ramsay.

The process from start to finish was well managed and the fitters amenable and efficient. Including dealing with a wasps nest which complicated matters. Finished result looks very good.

No hard sell, just information and a price with no sudden drop in price but only for 24 hours! Comparable to other quotes I received. Able to choose a date to suit me. Efficient installation of a quality product.
Slight problem with a couple of handles. Reported on Tuesday, was given a couple of appointments to choose from later that same day. All sorted on Friday. Great customer service. Thank you.

The text I received told me to be in from 8 until 5 but the engineer said he was given a firm time. So I didn’t need to stay in all morning. The engineer “Robbie” was great. He explained to me what would need to be done (repair a back step attached to the door frame and the bush strip on one of my patio doors. ) When I enquired why the bush strip had come out I was informed that it had not been glued in when fitting. As I have several patio doors I must now look forward to that occurring several times! I saw that Robbie was also adding more screws to the back door frame. When questioned about this I was informed that sometimes the crew rely on the silicone and some screws. To me this means that my back door was partly secured into the wall by silicone! Surely if there are screw holes they need to be used for security purposes. I cannot fault the workman or the system whereby I sent photos of the problems and was given a date. However I do question whether the original fitters did a suitable job, and then the faults appeared.

The whole process of renewing an old back door could not have been more professional, after a phone call an estimator called to carry out a survey, then a wait for a few weeks to arrange installation.
Kevin the fitter arrived, he was also very professional, and answered any questions, and was friendly and chatty.
He then removed the old door, and very expertly fitted the new door, he made an excellent job of it too, and even insisted he cleared up his mess.
I would highly recommend Anglian to anyone, their prices were very competitive, with the assurance of a professional company.
