Will steal your money

This company charges people for their products and then doesn’t send the product. When you try to contact customer service to find out what happened or get a refund, they ghost you. They are essentially stealing.

This is a total scam

This is a total scam, a money suck. They send the cheapest stuff and advertise products that they won't send. What a waste of money. So, disappointed that my friend gifted me this.

An online liquidator scammer

I placed an order with them that was for 2 mystery boxes; 1 for wellness and 2 for home decor. It took over a month to receive the order and when I did the well box consisted of 9 liquid hand soaps and some other things that were fine, but 9 of the same hand soaps! And the home decor hit consisted on 2 sets of white queen sheets, exactly the same. I emailed the company to let them know how disappointed I was in receiving multiples of the same thing in a box that was supposed to have a variety of things. They said they would send me replacement boxes, which I agreed as a nice solution but I never received the replacements. I emailed them several times and the answer was always the same, that they should ship out in 1-2 weeks. They began saying that on February 4th. It’s now March 19th and still nothing. This company is a scam and they don’t make good on their word. They are an online liquidator and you have no control over your purchases. So gross.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we’re truly sorry to hear about the fulfillment issues and delays with your replacement order. We’d love to clarify a few details.

As mentioned during our Warehouse Sale this past winter, this was a unique event related to our warehouse move, offering up to 80% off on select items. Unlike our regular Market openings, all products were sold as-is and at deep discounts. This was our first-ever Warehouse Sale (and warehouse move), and we want to assure you that we are not a liquidator (in fact, quite the opposite)! At Alltrue, we are committed to providing products that are produced with respect for human rights and the environment. Our team carefully curates products from brand partners and suppliers who share these values. Although the way in which we run our markets helps to ensure we limit any waste or over-buying, over the past nearly 10 years, we did have some extra product, and we were excited to offer this to our customers at incredible prices during this special sale.

Regarding your Mystery Bundles purchase, we sincerely apologize for the fulfillment error you experienced in receiving repeat products. We quickly worked to resolve this by sending replacement items, but, as we do hope was communicated, due to the ongoing warehouse move, the replacement order would be slightly delayed. Unfortunately, adding to the delay, were the recently implemented tariffs, as the order was shipping from the US to Canada. We have been reviewing the most efficient and cost-effective way to accommodate these changes, as often times sending packages is now costing more than the entire order itself. Again, this is certainly not a typical situation, and we are sorry your replacement order was affected. We truly understand how frustrating this must have been, and we appreciate your patience during this time.

We’re happy to confirm your replacement order has now shipped, and you should have received tracking information via email. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at help@alltrue.com.

If I could give this company zero stars…

If I could give this company zero stars I would. I purchased the whole year membership and my first box was the winter box. The website wouldn’t allow me to select my items and allTRUE sent me an email saying they would select the items and send them to me however the items they chose were all items I didn’t want so I emailed them explaining I didn’t need another blanket or any other items they chose to send. They replied it was too late and that the box was already sent..a month later I still never received the box so they told me to pick new item and they would send me a new box right away.. now it’s a month later again and still no box. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPAY. They make false promises and have the nerve to call themselves allTRUE.

I’m so sad

I’m so sad. I had a friend recommend this box to me and I really really trusted her recommendation so I went ahead and purchased the yearly subscription (my fault). I purchased it two months ago and I have yet to even receive a shipping notification for my winter box but I’m getting emails telling me to pick out my items for the next box when I haven’t even received the first. So I reach out to customer service and that’s when I’m told they are moving warehouses and that’s why… as a first and last time customer this is just a horrible first impression because I’ve been starting to think it’s a scam! Let’s hope it’s not as I still have yet to receive any kind of communication on when my winter box will even ship. I was just so excited for this membership and it’s been soured by the lack of communication.

EDIT/UPDATE 3/3/25:
Still haven’t received a shipping notification for my winter box and spring is in a matter of weeks! I reached out to customer service and they wanted to try and ship my box in multiple shipments so I could at least receive some of my items and they gave me a $25 credit for my next purchase…. As if I’m going to spend any more of my hard earned money with them! I told them the credit wouldn’t be useful and that I would really like a refund which they FINALLY gave me! I’m now free of this company and I feel lighter! I know that seems dramatic but I’ve been waiting for this box since DECEMBER and the $287 I spent was looming over my head that whole time.

Unfortunate Lack of Communication Timeline

I purchased a box of market items heavily discounted and despite the fair cost for what was coming it still amounted to quite a bill. The reason for my purchase was a particular item which I had received in a previous box and had unfortunately broken, so I was excited to find it at a more reasonable price. I was told my package had shipped and that it was on route but that there were two items of the same thing that were unavailable. That was fine I received a refund. Today I received another email saying that the item that I had purchased (the whole reason for my purchase) wasn't in the shipment because it was out of stock. AFTER it had shipped a full two weeks later not allowing me to cancel the order. I appreciate the change over issues in merchandise, however I wish I had been informed when products were being packed and not after my items were shipped (as clearly they were aware of items not being in stock at the time of packing due to my other items being refunded). Being straight up about all the issues rather than just the smallest valued items would have led to much less frustration.

Hi Chloe! We’re truly sorry to hear a favorite item you purchased in our Warehouse Sale was unavailable, and we completely understand how disappointing this must have been.

As you may know, our recent Warehouse Sale was a bit different from our usual Market openings. With Alltrue in the midst of moving warehouses, we slashed prices up to 80% off to help expedite the move. Because of the nature of this sale, some items were the last in stock, and if our fulfillment team determined that the condition of the item didn’t meet our standards, it would have been discarded at the time of fulfillment. We would then have been notified after so we could reach out. Unfortunately, it seems that this is what happened with your order, which is not typical during a standard sale.

We do hope you’re still able to enjoy the other sustainable and socially conscious finds you picked up during the sale! However, if you are certain you do not wish to keep any of the items from your order, please reach out to our support team at help@alltrue.com, and we can see how we may be able to best to assist you.

I tried to navigate out and I’m sure that that caused the problem. Why would I order duplicates. The items are crap BUYER BE WARE.

Part 2: The new owners stole from previous customers! They will steal from you too! DO NOT TRUST THEM!

Part 2. Since I can't comment back on my original review after the company responded, I will leave another review.

After my first review the company basically gave me the same "copy and paste" response they give everyone. They stole money from us and then they tell us to pursue a chargeback though our banks. But they are fully aware that we only have roughly 60 days to do that and that the deadline is well past. Then they tell us we can also "pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC". I have done this, but never got a response.

My next step is to report them to the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Protection Division of my State Attorney General, and anywhere else I can report fraud.

Icky...

The fact that one of the original co-founders of Alltrue now is a VP for Retention Brands says it all. He lead the company into bankruptcy and continues to work for the brand through the new ownership. I never received the first box I ordered and then all of the sudden I started to get emails again from Alltrue. I was willing to give it another try but once I did some digging, a while back they filed "Assignment for the benefit of creditors" which is just a way to avoid bankruptcy, because they couldn't pay their debts. They then used the inventory, that was taken from small businesses and NEVER paid for or only partially paid for, to fill boxes under new ownership. They literally took other small businesses down with them. If they have rectified the situation or if this assumption is wrong, they need to be more transparent but I'm guessing its true and they didn't do anything to make things right. This company as well as Retention Brands just feel icky with the way they do business and I would honestly feel guilty buying from them know that they are profiting off small business they ruined.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We certainly understand that the events that occurred two years ago were very unexpected and quite sudden, causing feelings of uncertainty for the community, the brands and vendor partnerships, as well as the Alltrue team. As you mentioned, after a financially challenging spring, Alltrue filed for a voluntary bankruptcy alternative Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. This resulted in a complete halt in business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company, tasked with selling the assets to create the best outcome for creditors to pay off debts owed. That July, Alltrue was purchased by Retention Brands LLC. The previous owners no longer have any ownership stake and are currently only involved as consultants for the sake of a healthy transfer of business operations, a requirement of any ABC sale. Please note this is of course public knowledge, and is in no way a fact we have tried to hide. We are sorry to hear you have felt any actions have been anything other than actively transparent. As previously noted, at the time the ABC was declared the assets of Alltrue were transferred to a 3rd party trustee, responsible for selling those assets for the maximum available value and distributing the proceeds to creditors to repay debts. When Alltrue was purchased, the funds from the sale were made from the new ownership group to the 3rd party trustee, who is responsible for overseeing the payment to creditors with the proceeds of the sale, another requirement of the ABC. When Alltrue declared an ABC, some of our Spring partners were mid-contract. Because business was immediately stopped, Alltrue was barred from speaking on it, some contracts were not paid in full, and the silence that followed made this much worse. The goods our members have been receiving are not stolen and have been paid for. In fact we have partnered again with many past vendors and we are very proud + excited.
Due to the size of the financial liabilities from the prior business, the only customers the new ownership were able to assume/ship were for who had active plans set to renew and whose billing info was transferred. All customers received an email over the summer with the details of their account, provided info re: the shutdown and how to receive any funds which may have been owed to them. If you need a copy of this email, or a link to the general assignment, please be sure to reach out to our Community Support team.
We are happy to confirm the new ownership has been in touch with our past vendors and have successfully worked on many paths forward. Like the majority of our community, our partners were excited to hear we were back and are very excited to continue new and improved partnerships ahead :) We understand that from the moment Alltrue was shut down to the present day there have been a lot of false rumors swirling, and so we do find it is very important to set the record straight, especially regarding Alltrue’s relationship with our partners and vendors.
Alltrue remains committed to its founding mission to offer our community the best sustainable and ethical products, to inspire a life lived with intention. While all the things you love about Alltrue are remaining the same, we are excited to enhance the membership by improving core operations and shipping timelines — something our new ownership group has extensive knowledge of and our community has been asking for! I hope this helps provide clarity, and hopefully confidence in the fact that Alltrue is committed to transparency and fostering positive and healthy relationships with our entire community, vendors and members alike.

Took my money and ran

I had a subscription and they Took my money and ran...and don't send me your canned response about your bankruptcy. It's not my fault you don't know how to run your business and want to take my money to pay off your debts. Now I'm getting emails again to shop again! I'd rather flush my money in the toilet

Hi Erin,

We understand the events that occurred in 2022 were very unexpected and we are terribly sorry if they impacted you in any manner. To provide a bit more information, Alltrue has been assumed under new ownership, but the brand our customers love isn’t going anywhere. Though exciting, this change in ownership was not anticipated. After a financially challenging spring, Alltrue filed for a voluntary bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“ABC”) in April of 2022. This resulted in a complete halt in business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company, and was tasked with selling the assets in order to create the best possible outcome for its creditors to pay off debts owed, with the purpose of distributing the proceeds to pay off any existing debts. That summer, Alltrue was purchased and is now in the hands of new ownership (that’s us!). It is important to note that all funds that were paid to the trustee to purchase Alltrue are being used to pay off debts owed from the previous ownership.

Due to the size of the financial liabilities from the prior business, the only customers whose previous orders the new ownership were able to assume and ship were for customers who had active membership plans which were set to renew at the time of the acquisition, and whose billing information was able to be transferred. All customers who had a membership with the previous owners received an email over the summer with the specifics of their account. This email also provided information in regards to the shutdown and how to receive any funds which may have been owed to them by the previous ownership. The liabilities incurred prior to the Assignment and subsequent acquisition are being administered by the Assignee and the Buyer does not have any role in overseeing or managing the claims process to address these liabilities. If you were one of the members unable to be retained, our recommendation was to pursue a chargeback with your financial institution or to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC. If you need a copy of this email, or a link to the general assignment, please be sure to reach out to our Community Support Team. If you prefer to no longer receive email communication from Alltrue, please click 'Unsubscribe' at the footer of the last email received, or reach out to our Community Support Team so we may remove you from our email subscription list.

We’re in awe of what Alltrue had been able to accomplish over the past 9 years, creating an incredible and engaged community, fostering meaningful partnerships with small businesses, artisan groups, and artists, and having made a tangible impact through fair wages, charitable giving, carbon offsets, and education. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to give the mission a second chance, reviving Alltrue as a change-maker and trustworthy source of discovery and education for members and a supportive partner to those Alltrue seeks to empower.

Avoid them if you value your $$

Paid for an annual subscription and only received 2 boxes. Logged in to find out they canceled my membership. Not too long after they sent me a renewal. I laughed so hard. They are still operating, selling products that they didn't pay their vendors for from past boxes. These scammers aren't gonna seen one more penny from me!

Gone Downhill

Until the past 9months this seemed like a great subscription box. It had fabulous curation and unique offerings each season. Since it was acquired it feels like they are just using their subscribers to eliminate excess/aging inventory. The Spring offerings had a lot of previously seen items from either previous seasonal boxes or previous market mystery boxes. Then the Summer and Fall 2023 box offerings were almost exclusively things that appeared in boxes from 2022.

The quantities of offerings are so low in many instances that they were sold out and unavailable within 2 hours of being notified that the customization window had opened, leaving only inexpensive and undesirable items available for selection.

It’s starting to feel like a “junk stuff” box more than anything. Because of all the repeat items - I either have to select things I already have or select something I didn’t want the last 2-3 times they offered it

Hi Patricia! Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are so sorry to hear of any disappointment in the products received.

With a diverse community in mind (a beautiful mix of all ages, shapes, shades, lifestyles, and personal tastes), our Product Team spends countless hours carefully partnering with brands whom we can stand behind as they share our same ethical and sustainable standards. They do their very best to curate a seasonal box filled with lifestyle, skincare, home, and wearable products that appeal to the diversity of our community — delivering our members $250+ of exclusive, socially-conscious products. We take the guesswork out of finding these sustainable gems, discovering brands that are using business as a force for good.

And yes! We do bring back past seasonal products :) Back by popular demand, these ‘Alltrue All-Stars’ are our community's favorites, selling out season after season. We decided to offer past favorites, largely based on feedback from the community, to provide a variety of options for every choice category. I should note, however, that we made sure every choice category included new item(s).

To share a bit more information about how we are curating boxes, Alltrue used to typically offer 2-4 customizable choice products in each seasonal box, with the remaining products being the same for all members (a get what you get option). Rather than reverting back this and to instead allow for plenty of variety, we brought back some member favorites in order to allow customization for all six items, as some members do love stocking up on a past favorite item! While Annual members always have the ability to customize each choice category, as a Seasonal Member our team works hard to try and ensure your box includes only new items, carefully reviewing your account box history before fulfilling your box. Of course, if there is ever a mistake and a repeat item is received that you do not need again, we encourage our members to reach out to our support team (help@alltrue.com) as we will always be happy to make it right.

It truly saddens us to hear you express quality issues. If there is ever an issue or damage to an item received in your seasonal box, please always feel free to contact our Community Support Team so that we can assist you! Additionally, one of the best avenues we have to know what you, the member, wants to see included in your box is through our Product Surveys. That means you can expect to receive an emailed product survey each season, asking you to rate certain items, or share what products you would like to see more of. If interested in participating, please email our support team to add you to the Product Survey list. This invaluable feedback helps us curate future boxes we hope our entire community will love.

We hope our commitment to transparency and constant improvement is clear, and we would love to have your continued support!

Started out fun with some cool products…

Started out fun with some cool products and a good cause. When it was CauseBox I liked to so much more! Then, they started not shipping to members, having only repeat orders happening- meaning the same products over and over. They sold the company to someone else but never told the customers, so we never got the boxes we paid for and most people resigned up because we didn't know what was happening. They skipped myself as well as multiple other customers for 5-7months and our money was gone. This was the worst absolutely horrible customer service and waste of money. This company took all the excitement and good feelings out of what their mission statement is and I have horrible feelings towards this box. If you go on their social media- you'll see hundreds of upset customers that couldn't get answers for over a year.

We’re in awe of what Alltrue had been able to accomplish over the past 8 years, creating an incredible and engaged community, fostering meaningful partnerships with small businesses, artisan groups, and artists, and having made a tangible impact through fair wages, charitable giving, carbon offsets, and education. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to give the mission a second chance, reviving Alltrue as a change-maker and trustworthy source of discovery and education for members and a supportive partner to those Alltrue seeks to empower.

I was a customer of alltrue before the bankruptcy. When they returned from bankruptcy, they chose some subscribers to continue the subscription and cut others off. They cut me off so I missed out on 3 boxes that I paid for. My issue is with the “new alltrue” that took over - they didn’t care that I was ripped off. They didn’t care that it hurt to be loyal to a company for years and then be discarded. They indicated that they could not honor those that paid for the subscriptions before bankruptcy but the fact is that they did retain some customers. They also put in their new boxes the items that the pre bankruptcy alltrue acquired, This is the LEAST caring and MOST unethical company I have dealt with . Don’t trust them.

Hi Tracie,
We understand the events that occurred earlier this year were very unexpected and we are terribly sorry if they impacted you in any manner. To provide a bit more information, Alltrue has been assumed under new ownership, but the brand our customers love isn’t going anywhere. Though exciting, this change in ownership was not anticipated. After a financially challenging spring, Alltrue filed for a voluntary bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“ABC”) in April. This resulted in a complete halt in business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company, and was tasked with selling the assets in order to create the best possible outcome for its creditors to pay off debts owed, with the purpose of distributing the proceeds to pay off any existing debts. This past summer, Alltrue was purchased and is now in the hands of new ownership (that’s us!).

If you were one of the members unable to be retained, we recommend pursuing a chargeback with your financial institution or to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC. If you need a copy of this email, or a link to the general assignment, please be sure to reach out to our Community Support team.

This company is a hot mess

This company is a hot mess. I got jipped into another subscription and wasn’t allowed to cancel and get a refund. Seasonal boxes come at the end of the season (I just got my spring box and summer has just begun) this happens each season. Box options are repeated each time, so sick of seeing the same options box after box after box. Also.. this is all within a couple days, it’s May 31 today, I received an email that said the summer market is live, you go to the website and it says spring market is here, then I click on “my box” and it says winter box coming soon 😂

Hi Leanne,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, and we are so sorry to hear of any disappointment surrounding the spring season! We do our best to set clear expectations surrounding our shipping timelines, as they can vary from season to season. To do so, we provide the seasonal shipping timeline at checkout for any new members joining, provide a seasonal shipping timeline which is accessible throughout our website, include our timeline in our FAQ section and post Live Warehouse Updates throughout the season which are always directly available in all member accounts. As noted in our shipping timeline updates, all renewing-members were shipped their Spring Boxes by mid-May :) Looking at your account, I can see your box was shipped within the promised timeframe! We hope you are enjoying all of your customized spring box goodies!

Please note that every subscription can be canceled. Per our Cancellation Policy, Seasonal and Annual Members may cancel their membership(s) at any time before their next renewal date to prevent the subscription from renewing. There is no cancellation fee. We make sure to send renewal reminders prior to membership renewals. If you think there was an issue with receiving your reminder, please contact our support team so we can ensure your account is properly subscribed to our email list!

I do appreciate you bringing these display issues to our attention, and I can confirm our Engineering Team is working to have these updated :) If there is anything else we can assist you with regarding your membership or orders, please reach out to our support team as we are eager to help!

don’t not buy

They send low quality products and repeat products so frequently. Horrible customer service too. Only redeeming quality is that they are sustainable products, although I am not even sure what that actually means.

Hi Jenny,

We have a robust vendor vetting program to ensure our commitment to providing our members with the most ethical and sustainable products possible, available on our website at https://alltrue.com/impact/standards. I would invite you to read through this section of our site, so you can learn more about our standards and about the impact your membership has helped make— including what makes a product sustainable or socially-conscious! If you have a moment, please also take a peek at our Impact Reports for more in-depth information about commitment to ethical manufacturing, as well as list of recent products the impact the made, our code of conduct, and what we are working on in the future to continue offering sustainable, ethically made goods and more on our artisan partners.

It truly saddens us to hear you express quality issues, as we commit long hours to ensuring all products meet our standards.

Our team has reached out to receive additional information regarding your experience so that we may locate your Alltrue account — we look forward to connecting with you soon!

We hope our commitment to transparency and constant improvement is clear, and we would love to have your continued support!

They are stating that the Spring 2023 box will start shipping April 2023, while my Winter 2023 box is still in the works, it’s already May. Last year I received my Winter box very late as well that I cannot use any of it on the warms days. Good stuff but very very late shipping.

Hi Ann,

Spring Boxes are actively shipping, and will continue to ship until mid-May. However, all Winter '23 Boxes finished shipping in February. If you did not receive your Winter ’23 Box for any reason, please be sure to reach out to our support team at help@alltrue.com. We will be happy to look into this further and make sure we get this sorted for you! :)
