Untrustworthy and unsafe
Host left a good review of me but after seeing mine, which was dreadful, was allowed to delete it and leave a review lying about me. After I complained (thank goodness I took pictures as proof I didn’t “vomit everywhere” and ‘break 2 tables” the host had no option but to take their review down but Airbnb didn’t check anything. Including I was sexually harassed but they don’t care. I’ll never use them again.
One star is too much
One star is too much, absolutely abysmal customer service. Despite evidencing the fact that the host had not only breached the Airbnb Policy (and the law) by entering the guesthouse while we were out - on more than one occasion - Airbnb said that they had determined that no breach had been made. I spent hours detailing everything over messages, and also on the phone. Even with photographic evidence of the intrusions absolutely nothing has been done about it. Appalling, I'm livid and will never be using their services again. So incredibly disappointed as I've had so many good experiences.

Have been in contact with them numerous times about changing my payment as my previous card was lost and there system doesn't allow you to change the card or when you do it keeps coming up as an error spoken multiple times to so called support and they just ignore my problem presumably as they have no idea how to fix it
No more airbnb... Just Booking.com 👌🏾
I was about to book my staying in Lisbon for summer and 3 different hosts with very high prices, by the way, DECLINED. Good
I booked a hotel with Booking.com, much better, cheaper and breakfast&cleaning service included 👌🏾
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, will not use again. If you face issues, just deal with them :)
Scam
Scam
Hi, I have rented a flat for 2 nights on 18 Smardan Street, Bucharest, from a certain Adriana. I had to check in today, but Adriana, as she presents herself, let me know only today that the flat wasn’t available anymore and that there is just another one 4,5km away where I could go. She put it in a way that if I wasn’t to accept the option, I should cancel the booking, although I am not covered for cancellation. This feels like a scam scheme, I’ve got to say that the first message, where she gave me the news, didn’t look as if written for my situation, it feels like it had been sent before, as it looks very well written, too well edited, and very impersonal. I will attach the screenshots of the conversation where possible. Also, the person is not available at the phone number provided. My daughter has called her, but the phone was switched off, which shows that the person didn’t just block me, but has disappeared.
Cancelled by Hosts TWICE! Avoid Airbnb
I booked a house in Chester for 10 people for a group break with freinds. This house had been booked for months. Out of the blue the host decided to pull the plug and cancel the booking with weeks to go leaving us with no option to rebook with so little time everything had gone. I ended up trying to find somewhere else in the UK for the same dates, luckily we managed to find a House in Halifax (yes 72 miles away!) At least we still had a holiday together. Surprise, surprise at the last minute this host then decides to do the same and cancel on us. An utter disgrace. You are not protected if the host decides he fancies his house back leaving you well out of pocket and without a holiday. God forbid I had booked flights to get there. I can't believe this is allowed there is nothing to prevent you losing your booking and no compensation whatsoever. Never again will I be made a mug of. Now I have 10 friends who don't have a holiday and no compensation. You have been warned avoid Airbnb like the plague use a hotel instead at least they respect the guests.
Really horrible company STAY AWAY
We hosted on Airbnb for almost 10 years, super hosts with almost 400 5* reviews. They happily keep taking your money, but God forgive if you have an issue or need help! We contacted Airbnb support as were unfairly treated and were hoping for understanding and help. Didn't receive any of it. Had to chase and chase for answers, wasted hours of our time, the answer was we don't care . They disregarded us like an old dog. No support, no understanding , no loyalty...... feel terribly let down. If you are thinking about hosting STAY AWAY and look to sing up with someone else.
Fruit fly infestation and hospitalisation
I sadly rented a place that had around 30-50 fruit flies. I complained and worked with support to book a new flat. This new place was BEAUTIFUL and loved it the first few days, but then got a severe sinus and eustachian tube inflammatory response and within 48 hours, lost my hearing and ended up in hospital. Then uncovered close to 15 diffusers, candles, plug ins, you name it, this apartment had a LOT of allergens which explains why I became so ill so quickly. When I complained, Airbnb offered me nothing; no refund, no voucher to help me cover the costs of being in hospital or my medicine, nothing. Never using Airbnb again.
Deposit scam
Very disappointing experience with Airbnb’s dispute resolution. A host withheld a £400 deposit after my stay, despite me providing clear video evidence showing the property was left in good condition. Airbnb acknowledged the issue but stated they could not take ownership of the deposit because it was taken outside their platform, leaving the decision entirely at the host’s discretion. Even after submitting evidence and raising concerns about inconsistent claims, there was little meaningful support or timely resolution. For a platform built on trust and guest protection, this lack of accountability and assistance was extremely frustrating.
booked Airbnb for the next week
booked Airbnb for the next week, 6 nights, spent £400
Booking us confirmed at 12:43
Clearly states nonrefundable after 13:42.i.e in 1 hour.
I noticed that there is no washing machine. I texted seller, apologised and requested cancellation at 13:17. Email from Airbnb conformed it
When contacted Airbnb for refund, they said my cancels registered at 2:17 Hungarian time and booking is nonrefundable. could not cancel neither is future or past time. I need my money , Customer service is absolutely unhelpful, and trying to convince me that I'm stupid.
I cancelled within 34 minutes,
Airbnb refuse a bad review
Bad experience. Airbnb did not let me post a review, but did help with the partial refund. Would have been 1 star except how genuinely helpful the support agent was.
I had an extremely disappointing…
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Airbnb, particularly in how they handled multiple serious issues following a stay.
We booked a villa through Airbnb for our wedding. In the weeks leading up to the stay, the villa owners introduced a mandatory additional fee outside of Airbnb. Given that our wedding was imminent, with 30 guests travelling, we had no realistic option but to pay.
We made this payment under pressure and with no genuine alternative given the timing and scale of the event.
We later reported this to Airbnb as it clearly breached their policy around off-platform payments. Despite this, Airbnb refused to assist or help recover the money.
Airbnb’s position was that we had not reported the issue during the stay. This completely ignored the context — this was our wedding week, with significant coordination and responsibility, followed immediately by our honeymoon. We raised the issue as soon as we returned.
In addition, after the wedding, the villa manager publicly posted photos and videos of our wedding, including our guests and children, on Facebook without any consent. This was a private event involving identifiable individuals, including minors, which made this particularly concerning.
We spent a significant amount of time trying to resolve this through Airbnb, contacting multiple teams and being passed between customer support, complaints, privacy, and Trust & Safety. Each time we had to re-explain the situation and provide evidence again.
Despite this, no meaningful action was taken. Airbnb acknowledged concerns but ultimately distanced itself from the issue and left us to resolve it ourselves.
The whole process felt like being passed between departments until Airbnb could say it was no longer their responsibility.
This experience highlighted a clear gap between Airbnb’s stated policies and how issues are handled in practice. When something goes wrong — even something involving policy breaches and misuse of personal content — there appears to be very little accountability.
For a platform of this size, this level of support is simply not acceptable.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. During our stay, the lock began to malfunction and we reported it to the host immediately.
After checkout, we were accused of damaging it and faced a claim through Airbnb, despite no evidence being provided. Given that the issue developed during normal use and was reported straight away, this feels like the responsibility for a maintenance issue is being unfairly placed on guests to cover the cost of the host's Aircover insurance.
What made this worse was the handling by customer service. We were told multiple times that we would receive a callback, which never happened. Communication was inconsistent, and the responses we received felt generic and unhelpful AI-generated.
Despite rejecting the claim, we were informed that the amount would still be charged. This added to the frustration and made the situation feel very unfair or like an extortion.
Overall, a very negative experience and the last with Airbnb which has become awful.
Worst experience with Airbnb
Worst experience with Airbnb! Traveling for work and have an employee who will be in Manchester UK for over 3 months. She gets to the “1 bedroom” apartment and there is NOTHING there. No toilet paper, bedding, dishes, tv, nothing! Completely false advertising! It is more of a studio and the bed is about 12” from the stove! There is no way the accommodations were acceptable for a 3 month stay. Just awful.
In addition, the building management company says it is against policy to rent as AirBnB and these same “hosts” have scammed people before. With our help in providing the information they’d been missing, they are now pursuing from a legal stand point.
When we attempted to cancel the “hosts” offered 30% refund! We are talking about a $12k booking from a global company. We contacted AirBnB but they refuse to provide a full refund or take action against these people that deceived and out and out lied about the accommodations and amenities they provide.
We provided pictures and made multiple attempts to resolve. AirBnB provided generic responses and basically said it isn't their problem. So we are out over $8000 as a company and AirBnB doesn't care if their hosts are scamming customers. We will not use again.
Tried to reserve the same property on…
Tried to reserve the same property on three occasions with the same host.
On all three occasions the host failed to respond within 24 hours despite the fact that the full amount had been taken from my bank for each booking.
I did notice that each time I reserved the booking the price had gone up significantly.
At this point I contacted AirBnb only to find that the host had every right to obtain the best price by failing to respond.
Apparently it is called " dynamic pricing" and is something that AirBnb fully endorse.
I wonder what would happen if I kept constantly booking and cancelling reservations until I got the best price

Be very careful when you book a non refund reservation. Accidentally booked the wrong date and couldn't change to the date I needed, so they said they can't refund. One tap cost me 70 quid lol
Steer clear of cozy caravan retreats.
Fraud DO NOT USE AIRBNB
This app is the epitome of a fraudulent scam. They don’t vet the homeowners or the homes themselves. When you arrive multiple times now we have arrived to properties that don’t resemble anything or have any of the things that they say in the listings and it is nearly impossible to get your money back with foreign idiots handling all transactions or not handling them. You can’t understand them. They do nothing to get your money back you have to involve your bank and police don’t ever book with them save yourself the massive headache and trips ruin ruined. It’s scary that they’re still in business. They should be shut down immediately.

Unhappy that Airbnb are refusing a refund if my Emirates flight is cancelled
too many hurdles just to book
booking process started off okay until after i paid. booking remains unconfirmed until id validated fair enough. after struggling to upload a selfie with their site freezing multiple times they then asked for "government id". after uploading driving license front and back and entering other personal information, they then said they need a video selfie. as i was on a desktop pc with no camera i was given a qr code that i could do nothing with and link was provided if i did not have a qr reader. the link went to some generic events page so i could not proceed past this page. they make it far too hard to make a booking but they make sure that taking money out of your bank account is the very first step. ended up booking at premier inn instead for less than half the price.
