If I could give less than one star, I would. I feel it's a scam company. My credit card would never process. When I looked it up online, it said that it was very likely a spam web address. I called my bank and canceled that card. At that point they had all my information. I would not trust them.
Damaged package and merchandise

Shipping nightmare
I am a long-time American Eagle/Aerie customer and am posting this review to document a serious issue with misrepresented expedited shipping and fulfillment delays.
I paid for overnight shipping with a promised delivery date of the 29th and as of right now (the 28th), my order is sitting in American Eagle’s own warehouse and has been for over 24 hours with no movement, making on-time delivery impossible.
When I contacted customer service regarding this matter, they tried framing it as a carrier issue, when in reality the package was not handed off in time. I also have a separate order where I paid for 2-day shipping that has not shipped at all.
Under FTC policy, businesses may not misrepresent shipping timelines at the point of sale and must ship within the timeframe promised or provide the customer with a clear option to cancel for a full refund. In this case, the expedited service sold at checkout was not honored, and I was never given the option to cancel once it became clear the delivery commitment would not be met.
Customer service was unable to explain why paid expedited orders were sitting idle in their own warehouse or take meaningful action to resolve the issue. Unless you count being told to wait for two weeks. Being told to wait up to two weeks for movement on an overnight order defeats the purpose of paying for expedited shipping entirely.
Charging for premium shipping while failing to meet delivery commitments—and offering no accountability when it happens—has significantly damaged my trust in the brand.
Warning they won’t let you return or exchange stuff
Warning!! They take 10 days to send a parcel but you only get a tiny return window!
If you miss 14 days they act like utter Pr1cks and won’t even let you return for the correct size - mind you they sent the wrong size in the first place!!
It’s a shame as the jeans aren’t bad. Customer service is appalling though.
Also no consideration given to it Xmas and gifts have been purchased longer than 14 days ago!

I ordered two pairs of identical jeans in size 33x34. They sent me 34x34... why?? I asked for either a refund or for them to send me the correct size. They refused, saying I should return these and they would send others, but I physically don't have the time to do that, to go... pack them up, print something out... waste time... it's not my fault... why are you at fault, but I'm the one who has to waste time... this is terrible. I will never buy anything from your store again and I don't recommend it to others. The customer service is awful.
Package has been lost
Today is December 17th. I placed an order on November 28th and it shipped on December 3rd from NJ. It arrived in CA on December 12th. I live in MN. The carrier (DoorDash???) says the package is lost and to contact AE for a refund. I spent the past 24 hours trying to chat with AE and kept getting no response. I finally got ahold of them today and they said they won’t issue a refund until 14 days after the last update provided by the carrier. Even though the last update is literally “package has been lost, contact AE for a refund”. So now I have to wait until December 26th to try to contact them again and get a refund. Almost a full month after I placed my order. Unbelievable. My daughter loves their clothes but I will never place an online order with them ever again.
Worst Customer Service in Retail
Clothing is great. Customer service is trash. They mailed me the completely incorrect order and were unable to correct it due to their own internal processes. I have to ship them out the wrong order they sent to me, wait for a refund, then “maybe” repurchase it for the same price by calling customer service. They cannot simply re-ship my correct order because their systems don’t handle it that way. I understand they need their incorrect order back (that isn’t even from AE, it’s Aerie, which is bizarre in itself), but they shouldn’t make it next to impossible for me to receive what I actually ordered. I got it on sale and they can’t guarantee the sale price again when I have to repurchase it. I’m just going to cancel my AE Credit Card and be done with them. I’ve been through this with Target once and they handled it beautifully, even though they’re a much larger company.
Don’t buy. Poor return/exchange and customer service
So upset. I love their leggings and have been a customer for years. Lately, their standard legging length is 7/8 and I wanted the standard length. I recently saw the leggings and ordered them thinking it was standard length since it didn’t state 7/8 in title, only to receive in 7/8. It was stated in a small fine print in the end of descriptions. I wanted an exchange cuz I took off the tag before realizing it was the shorter length. I had tons of packages to open prior to the holidays. I went to two stores and they refused to exchange, give me credit although it was obvious that it was brand new just cuz of the receipt. I called corporate and they were useless too. I’m so upset. I don’t understand why when they could just add the same tag and resale brand new.

Worst Customer Service
Holy crap I have been a customer of this company for over 20 years and I love their clothes but God forbid you need help with an order or you need something from customer service. They are nonexistent. They say they’ll get back to you in 3 to 4 days they never do. They are always rude. They are non-helpful. They are the worst customer service team ever. Maybe y’all should take some pointers from Amazon. My order has not shipped out in nine days and I’m told that I’ll receive an update in another 3 to 4 days, mind you it was due five days ago.
Update on 12/15- 16 days later and they still refuse to ship my last item and or help cancel this order so I can replace it for Christmas. I’ve called their foreign customer service representatives and they all just keep saying I have to wait for it to ship. I’ve emailed about six times asking to please cancel or ship the item and they say they’re working on it and will get back to me. I love the clothing, but this has turned me away from this company and I am going to stop spending my money here. I spent over $20,000 a year at this company and this is how they’re going to treat a loyal customer.

EUR 215 order not delivered and AE is ghosting
I placed an order in October that was marked as delivered by PostNL, but I never received it. PostNL informed me I had to contact AEO. After three emails, I finally received a response asking me to confirm it hadn’t been delivered to my neighbours and to let AE know if it still arrived. I confirmed this straight away (and it still hasn't been delivered to this day).
Since then, it’s been 3+ weeks of *complete* silence. I’ve sent multiple follow-up emails and "new" inquiries via their website contact form asking for an update on the investigation or a proposed solution, and I’ve had no response at all even though they say they aim to get back to you within one working day.
At this point, I’m out EUR 215 with no products, no update, and no indication that AEO is taking responsibility. This is far below the level of service I expect from any retailer, let alone a brand I’ve been loyal to for years.
My wardrobe is full of AE jeans bought in-store and via other retailers, but after this experience I won’t be ordering through the AE Europe website again. The absence of communication and ownership is genuinely some of the worst service I’ve experienced. I expect my order to be delivered or a full refund to be issued without further delay.

I bought some shirts for my boyfriend as a gift and he was so excited that he took the tag off the first one without thinking that it may not fit.. it ended up being too short on him. They will not give me a refund because the tag was detached or let me exchange for another size. They could easily reattach the tag but would rather lose me as a customer! They could easily look at my order history and see I’ve purchased lots of clothing from them and have an AE credit card which I will now be canceling ! Terrible customer service

Great Pants for the Price, Size the Length Up, Though
The fabric on the American Eagle Lived-In Flex Cargo Pants is what I would say is a midweight 98% cotton / 2% spandex blend that moves with you. Overall fit is slightly relaxed, the look is a slightly distressed vintage wash. Waist sizes are true to size, with 2 tabs on the back to customize the fit. The website offers 32", 33" and 34" waist sizes and I opted for 34 for a looser fit. There are a total of 7 pockets - the flaps lay flat and are fastened with snaps that work easily. Actual inseam is 4" shorter than listed and had to go with a 34" length to get my usual 32" look. The colors on the website are very close to what you get and online orders can be returned/exchanged at a local store. Customer service there was excellent. Recommended.
