AVOID!
I have been a board certified emergency physician through ABEM for over 20 years. This year, when it came time to submit my renewal fee, they were "closed" and had changed their website.
I was finally able to reach a representative to pay my fee (and printed the receipt for this payment). But ABEM would not grant my access to the site stating that they had not received my fee (even though my credit card showed the payment and I printed the receipt).
i then wrote a letter to Dr. James Thomas (the president of ABEM). After 5 weeks, I received no response from him.
I contacted my credit card to dispute the charge.
After 20+ years, if this is how they treat their physicians, I recommend seeking one of the numerous other organizations providing board certification for emergency medicine physicians.
AVOID ABEM and all associated with them!
