Did the $120 I paid buy me anything? The company won't answer this question.

This company utilizes dark patterns to sign consumers up for recurring charges that do not provide any benefits. In addition, I asked them two simple questions: "What exactly do I get in exchange for the $120 I paid to register my cat's microchip? If my cat is lost and someone scans the microchip, will they be provided with my name and contact information?" They did not respond and ended the chat.
I'd be interested in hearing from any CONNECTICUT residents who have had issues with this company.

The only reason they got one star is because I couldn't give zero. Trying to register my two cats microchip transfer online was a complete and utter joke, it never let me get to the site that I needed to get to. So I called the toll free number. At the end after changing the info to my name and address, she starts talking about the fees involved, clearly as I'm looking at a piece of paper that said there is no fee for basic service. When I explained that to her that that's what I wanted to sign up for, she absolutely shamed Me by "well, don't you want us to call you if your pet gets lost ?" So incredulous! After I explained I had $2 in my bank account so probably not, she hung up on me. This is clearly not the company I want to watch over my pet. There's got to be something better out there

Scam

Watch out for hidden fees! 'Sal' tried to charge me $119 to update my pet’s microchip, but when I called back, another rep told me it was actually free. Total scam alert.

This company is a total scam and operates unethically

This company is a total scam. They charged us $135.00 to register a free pet chip. When you register they sneakily register you for pet insurance. The following month when they charged me, i called and complained and requested a refund. They refunded my money within a few days but didn't cancel the insurance. They tried to bill me the following 2 month but i had shut off the card for them and payment fail. On their website, they say you can cancel the pet insurance any time on their website. The only problem is there's no way to do that. This company does nothing but scam you and operates unethically.

ZERO STARS

I wish I could give this company zero stars. I had to call to register my cat's chip to me and they told me that I had to sign up for lifetime membership...they did not tell me this was optional. I was then signed up for some wellness program for which they were going to charge me $20 a month and thankfully they let me opt out of pet insurance. Also, they tell you that you will get a $25 Petco gift certificate if you buy the membership, BUT you can't get it if you already have a Petco Vital Care membership (you have to sign up for a new one). This company is horribly manipulative and their deceptive practices are disheartening. I'm sorry I ever called them and urge everyone to do your research and know that you ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY ANY MONEY FOR YOUR PET'S CHIP TO BE REGISTERED.

Beware of the upsell strategy

This is the second pet I have experienced this frustration with. I go online and can't find a spot to do the free registration of the chip and then I end up calling so I can register the chip that the vet put in my furbaby. 24Petwatch customer service person acts like it is some big thing and I have to pay money. We DO NOT NEED TO PAY ANYTHING to get our name and info associated to the chip. Customer beware of these people trying to upsell us!!!

Support doesn't exist

I tried contacting support over a simple issue.

But I couldn't contact a human and instead encountered impassable automated sales pitches. Now every time I try to call I'm blocked.

24petwatch truly sucks in the worst way

My dog went missing on may 14th 2025. I hung flyers and walked the street looking for him. He was microchipped and registered through 24petwatch. he had gotten lost back in August of 2021 and within a few hours I got an email from 24petwatch and call from the animal shelter that had him. From this experience I knew once he was found I would get an email and phone call. On the 17th of May I made sure all my contact information was accurate and I submitted a lost pet form. Every day I check their website to see if any one had scanned his chip or contacted 24petwatch. On July 27th I found that 24petwatch had reregistered his chip to someone else. After calling cops, because my dog was now stolen, and animal control I was told that Chewie had been picked up by the shelter on the 15th of May his chip scanned and 24petwatch notified. 24petwatch never told me, they did in 2021 but not this time. Chewie was held in foster care for 3 weeks to see if I was going to claim him. I never knew this because 24petwatch never told me he was found and waiting at the shelter. After 3 weeks he was put up for adoption and adopted the next day. He was my best friend, my road dog and I can never see or talk to him again. The shelter called the new owner and explained what happened and asked if they would be willing to give him back to me they said no. I don't think 24petwatch should go out of its way for me but could you at least do the same job you did in 2021 and send me an automated email.

Disgraceful

Absolutely disgraceful.

When my dog was a puppy, I paid $40/month. That slowly crept up to $150 as she aged — fine, expected. Then 24PetWatch was acquired, and my premium jumped to $273. I called to understand why. The rep gave me zero useful info and refused to escalate me to a manager.

Now, without warning, it’s $514/month after tax. For a 12-year-old dog. I’ve never submitted a significant claim. She’s healthy. This is pure price-gouging — exploit the love people have for their pets and hope they won’t cancel.

You should be ashamed of this model. I’m out

Customer service is not great

Customer service is not great. I am unhappy with the service. All I wanted to do was delete the account because I already registered with pet link the company I prefer I don’t like 24 pet watch because they refuse to help me and they try to charge a ridiculous amount for the registration lifetime thing. Don’t use this company if you can avoid it. I accidentally clicked the link that the rescue use for the site but they don’t personally use this company. They use a different company and that’s a whole different thing.

If I could give 0 stars

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This company uses horrible, enraging tactics to get out of paying very legitimate claims. They also greatly increase monthly fees on older pets; likely to avoid covering costs incurred my older pets. Avoid at all cost.

BEWARE of the extra services they sneak…

BEWARE of the extra services they sneak charge you. They literally added $40 for 2 months and the first month they reversed it and then re-charged us... i never signed up for anything additional then the $119 lifetime microchip membership and claimed i should've gotten emails from some 3rd party to cancel which obviously went to my junk mail....

Surprise Fees

Lifetime membership states one time fee. No mention of 19.95/month charge when registering. Purposefully misleading on what fees will be charged.

24PetWatch

I Try Not To Review Places But This Place Is Nothing But A Ripoff And A Huge Scam. When I Got My Cat In 2023 I Was Told About This Junk From The Rescue Where I Got My Cat. They Fed Me A Bunch Of Lines Which I Was Dumb To Believe Sadly, It Resulted In Me Buying The "Lifetime Protection" This Is Now 2025, They Have Not Once Responded To Any Emails I Sent, They Never Did Send My Cat's ID Tags They Claimed Would Be Sent. Essentially Theyve Done Nothing Except Take My Money

It's been a reliable insurance provider for my dog

We've had a great experience with 24PetWatch! Our dog came from a rescue with their Lifetime Protection Membership (reunion assistance if he's lost) and a complimentary year of pet insurance, which we decided to keep. We're so glad we did. He's the sweetest pup but has had more vet visits than we'd ever expected. He's only 4, but has had frequent ear infections and several minor injuries (he plays a bit too hard sometimes). Most recently, he was hospitalized for pancreatitis, and having pet insurance was a huge relief. We were reimbursed within days. It made a stressful situation so much easier, not having to worry about the vet cost. Highly recommend!

No Customer Service

I registered one of my cats with 24PetWatch in May, 2024 and paid $100.00. My cat NEVER made it into their system - there is no record of her when I logon to my account.

I have tried many times to contact them, but I never receive a response to phone calls or emails. Based on what I read here I'm not the only person they are ignoring. At this point if I lost this cat I don't think the chip would help at all. These chips are good on paper, but in practice I think they are just a way to relieve people of their hard earned cash.
