Not a great service
I sent two university documents to be apostilled by 1st Apostille. These were signed by a solicitor before sending.
A few days later I receive a rejection notice. My solicitor was not registered with the FCDO, so the application was rejected. *Nowhere* on 1st apostille’s website do they say that the solicitor must be FCDO registered. Beware if you are using your own solicitor!!! I then had to pay a resubmission fee of £40 x2, so all in all this has been an incredibly expensive process.
My solicitor did not date the documents upon signing, which is an oversight on their part. However you would expect that a third party service like this would at least check the documents, including the solicitor verification, was all in order before sending to the FCDO.
I was also told documents were dispatched on Friday. However they have still not been received by Royal Mail, today is saturday.

On our website (see: services/certification page) we explain that solicitors must be registered with the FCDO, as otherwise their signatures cannot be verified and the application will be rejected. Unfortunately, in your case the FCDO could not verify your solicitor’s signature and the documents were not dated, which led to the rejection.
It’s also important to note that the FCDO does not refund its legalisation fee in cases where documents are rejected, even if the issue is due to the solicitor (e.g. missing date or signature). This is their policy and is outside our control.
We do offer a free signature verification service with the FCDO, which can usually be completed within 24 hours if requested before submission. Since this was not requested in advance, we had to follow the standard procedure and the FCDO’s decision was final.
Regarding document checks: we do review all submissions, but the FCDO’s signature verification and requirements ultimately lie with the solicitor or with the client when using their own. To help prevent this happening again, we’ve now made this information even clearer on our service pages.
We truly regret the inconvenience and additional cost this caused you, and your feedback has helped us improve how we communicate these requirements more clearly to future customers.

Fast, cheap, good experience
Very cheap next day turnover, perfect service. Saved me in a pinch and would go with them again if I needed another document legalised.
Only criticism is they didn't tell me when they recieved my document, but that was probably because I got a family member to drop it into their office. But that wasn't a big problem, it was still ready for pickup the next day!
