Artem and the 15 Minute Exercise…

Artem and the 15 Minute Exercise Challenge have been a wonderful addition to the wellbeing focus we are trying to encourage in our organisation. We had some fantastic results with many of our staff members making transformative changes (i.e. losing 11kg in the 6 weeks). I would have no qualms in recommending Artem and the program to anyone looking to implement an exercise focused initiative in to their wellbeing program.

Great healthy, competitive initiative

Really great initiative, one that I thoroughly enjoyed! I am already an active person and don't need the encouragement to get out and exercise however it was great to bring the team together in a healthy and fun way. It really brought out the competitive nature in many people who are usually fairly reserved.

Competitive streak!

What a great experience! The 15 Minute Challenge got me up from my desk, kept me accountable and created a great sense of comradery (and friendly rivalry!) in our organisation.

Jonathon's review and two suggestions

I enjoyed the Challenge, and think it was a good initiative. The interface was easy to use, and the updates along the way helped to keep us motivated and committed. Nice way to build team morale within a workplace too.

I have two suggestions for you:

1) I recommend that the end of the challenge should then include a series of ongoing primers to keep people committed to their newfound habit of daily exercise, sent to people for the month thereafter. It was a bit of an anticlimax once the challenge had ended, even for people like me who exercise a lot, and I'm worried that a lot of people might have reverted to their old sedentary ways, without some kind of transition period. I reckon the message at that point should be- 'this is a beginning not an end' of good exercise habits. Videos, articles, testimonials, etc sent weekly for a month after the challenge finished would help a reinforcement. The excellent book 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg gives some great practical advice on how to ingrain habits within people.

2) There should be a prize for the most minutes done by a team. Our team (Bee Dee Ell Oh Yeah) felt a bit peeved afterwards that we'd blitzed the number of minutes and were clear winner in that respect, but still didn't get a prize. There should be separate prizes to incentivise both the consistency and the extent of exercise.

Thanks,
Jonathon

Hi Jonathon,

Excellent to hear that you really liked and enjoyed the challenge!

Your team did 20,420 minutes of exercise in 6-weeks, which is crazy impressive.

1) This is a great suggestion! From our six-month surveys, we see that 73% of people will keep up the habit of exercise, but this can always be improved. We completely agree that 'this is a beginning not an end' of good exercise habits is a great message and we will incorporate this into our approach. Will read 'The Power of Habit' and will look at the principles outlined there. The weekly emails for a months after the finish to keep the momentum going is a great idea and we will incorporate this next year.

2) Thank you, this is also a good suggestion. Having a prize for most minutes done as an individual or team is something that we can definitely incorporate into the prize structure. Our main goal is to promote consistency of daily effort, but more exercise minutes is also very beneficial for health. We are introducing a whole team achievements section of the platform next year and can place most minutes done as a team achievement and also look at prize allocation.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it!

Thanks,

-Artem

Improved my exercise frequency, didn't like the registration fee

The challenge made me exercise more often and kick started some good habits for me going into spring/summer. Not sure if we got much back from paying the registration fee, reason for paying it wasn't apparent. Overall I felt better and more motivated to exercise by the end of the challenge. It is really easy to fit a 15 min walk into your day!

Hi Maddy,

Thank you, really happy that the challenge helped you to feel better, more motivated and kick-started some good habits.

We do our best to make sure that the registration fee is as low as possible for participants by using the organisation's Health & Wellbeing budget when it is available.

Sometimes when the organisation's Health & Wellbeing budget is low we set a subsidised participant registration fee so the challenge can be run.

Really appreciate your feedback, we will do our best to see if it is possible for your organisation to increase the Health & Wellbeing budget to reduce or remove the registration fee for next year.

Thanks,

-Artem

This was a team building challenge as…

This was a team building challenge as much as an exercise challenge. Our team became very competitive and encouraged each other along. Was well worth be included and our ward will certainly participate again next year.
