This isn’t a course. It’s a creative demolition and rebuild.
I went into Write & Direct thinking I knew the basics. I left with a completely different operating system for my brain.
Most film schools teach you structure, three-act formulas, and the “rules.” Write & Direct gave me something far more valuable: permission to weaponize the absurd. The techniques I picked up here aren't just clever—they feel almost illegal. We're talking about narrative hacks that shouldn't work but absolutely sing on screen.
One module on the development stage completely rewired how I watch and build films. For the first time, I broke down the majority of feature films I saw and realised they were all quietly following a hidden structural spine—not a rigid template, but a living, breathing architecture. Seeing that pattern emerge across different genres was so brilliant it felt like discovering gravity. Now I can't unsee it, and more importantly, I can use it.
Another section shattered my fear of directing actors with a technique so unconventional (and honestly, a little unhinged) that I started getting performances I'd never dreamed possible. My old shot lists now look like child's drawings. I'm generating ideas that genuinely surprise me—the kind that make you sit back and ask, “Did I just come up with this?”
This isn’t a place for passive learning. It’s a forge. It grabbed my existing knowledge, twisted it into pretzels, and handed me back a sharper, braver version of myself as a filmmaker. If you’re tired of playing it safe and ready to absorb methods that feel truly next-level, get on this platform.
I’m not a better student because of Write & Direct. I’m a better creator. And that’s the only diploma that matters.

Uley
