Worldpackers has honestly been a gateway to my dream life. ✨
It has given me the chance to travel, live in different countries, build community, and grow my confidence as a solo traveller. I’ve met amazing people, created inspiring events, and felt part of something meaningful instead of just passing through places.
It’s not just a platform, it’s been a door to freedom, connection, and a new way of living. I’m really grateful for everything it has allowed me to experience. 🩵✈️

Worldpackers has provided me with once-in-a-lifetime experiences and opportunities that I will treasure forever. As a solo female traveller, I have always felt safe, supported, and well cared for while using their platform. From volunteering and cultural exchange to eco-conscious projects, Worldpackers has made it possible to explore the world in meaningful ways while connecting with welcoming hosts and fellow travellers. Every experience has been well organised, enjoyable, and empowering, giving me the confidence to travel independently while contributing positively to the communities I visit.

I was travelling with Worldpackers the last for years and is the best decision I’ve made in my life. I’ve been working as a volunteer in a variety of places and activities I’m learning about myself and others cultures. The more important thing is to be supported by Worldpackers.

Traveling with Worldpackers changed how I see the world. Instead of just visiting places, I get to live in them. Helping in hostels, hotels, schools, and local projects while immersing myself in the culture.
It’s not just about saving on accommodation. It’s about connection, purpose, and experiencing destinations beyond tourism.
Worldpackers didn’t just help me travel more, but it helped me travel deeper.

I am writing this review to share my personal experience as a host on Worldpackers.
After hosting 9 volunteers through the platform, my account was permanently deactivated. I repeatedly requested clarification regarding the specific reasons for this decision, but I was informed that detailed information could not be shared due to privacy policies.
During our collaboration, we received both positive and negative feedback, as is normal in any human experience. However, the final decision was based on private feedback that was never disclosed to us, which left us without the possibility to fully understand or respond to the concerns raised.
I respect the platform’s right to manage its community according to its policies. However, as a user, I believe transparency and the opportunity to understand decisions that significantly impact one's account are fundamental.
My intention in writing this review is not to attack the company, but to encourage clearer communication and procedural transparency for all hosts and travelers in the future.

Hi, Worldpackers, can you take a moment to look at my issue?? I'm a solo traveler with membership and when I was using my Apple ID (the hiding email address mode) to log into the Worldpackers App on my iPhone during an active and ongoing trip, my account was abnormally emptied with the membership and all past conversations gone. It resulted in me not able to contact with the host during an active trip who I was about to pick me up at the train station. After sending emails asking for support on feb. 17 and feb. 18, I didn't get any reply in 2 days during which I was in limbo (unable to contact the host) during the trip. Update: *After posting this review, my lost account is magically back***but I hope this issue can be better addressed because it really places the traveler to a high-risk situation.

Amazing concept, but unfortunately they are orientated towards the hosts as opposed to the very volunteers that dedicate their time each day and put the work forward.
I have been a volunteer 6 times with opportunities I found through the app. 5 of them I felt exploited, basic needs for accommodation were neglected, or was made uncomfortable in some way by the hosts’ attitude towards volunteers. 4 of them I said nothing for fear or causing problems or them leaving a bad review. 1 time I made a comment. This was simply as the day they ‘conveniently’ wanted me to work was a major holiday and in my country also a religious celebration - it was extremely important to me to celebrate it as so.
This turned into dealing with a bitter host, who at the end of my time there (after I had been left with no choice but to work on this day, and go beyond the required hours too), left me a review of lies and exaggerations out of anger - including having arrived late (when I had arrived exactly on the day scheduled via the app) and for using the guest kitchen after closing (for 15 minutes, a sole time) 😂
This was all only for having asked for a reschedule in shifts, and even having offered to give up some of my rest days in return.
I expected the support team to help, as the interface seems very volunteer-focused, correct ? And, I had the proof that at least one of these accusations was directly false.
After ‘sending the review to a specialized team’, they told me once again that it does not go against any policies and they thus can’t remove the review.
The thing is, after this experience, I had a look and… it seems this is common procedure. Automated copy and paste replies from customer service which tell volunteers that hosts’ reviews against them can’t be removed (fair or not) whilst immediately removing volunteers’ reviews under the same category to leave hosts’ profiles with a perfect 5 stars.
It’s truly a shame as the concept is good, but due to the high influx of hosts that see volunteers as free labor and a support team that protects hosts and not its volunteers, I recommend using another platform, or even searching by hand on socials.
I hope to get this resolved by posting here as I would like to feel understood, supported and safe using Worldpackers, because truly in concept, it is useful. I will update on the outcome.
Update: No change.

My three months volunteering at Brighton in Ecuador were truly unforgettable. I was genuinely happy there. The school is amazing, and the teachers are kind, dedicated, and inspiring. Jonathan became more than a director to me — he became a great friend. I built beautiful connections and gained friends who feel like family. Everyone was incredible to me. The city is stunning, with beautiful beaches and warm energy. I even extended my stay because the experience was so wonderful. I’m deeply grateful for everything. It changed me for the better.

Great platform to find hosts but also hosts ask you to come stay because of your profile that’s suits the place! Overall really happy with Worldpackers!!

You feel at home from the moment you arrive. Karen goes from being a hostess to being like a sister to you. The staff members Angel and Cyntia are super friendly and treat you like family.

My first experience was negative, due to a predatory host and WP customer service did not take any actions to remove said host from the platform after I submitted clear evidence. Fortunately, on my second experience using WP it was positive with a respectable host.

World packers is all about money. They are letting young people join who are only interested in free loading and not interested in help or culture exchange.
WP is accepting helpers who are young and only want free food and accommodation.
There is much better programs out there for free.
Also as a former host I found WP discriminating against hosts and in violation of human right policies.
WP policies are to strict, example if a host or helper cancels there stay WP will cancel there membership.
WP site is very difficult and confusing to use.
There is much better work exchange like wwoof

I’ve volunteer over 10 countries and I fell in love with each experience. I truly love what Worldpackers has to offer… meeting new people, embracing yourself in new cultures, and getting to see the world through a completely different perspective. I have a huge passion for traveling and I’ve appreciated getting the opportunity to work through Worldpackers for the last 2 years, and can’t wait for anymore!!
