5 Star Tandem Canoe Experience!
Had a fantastic day out on the water with the instructors who were all very knowledgeable and approachable; able to answer any question put to them in simple terms without using jargon or overcomplicating things.
Always made us feel at ease on the water, taught us to read the water and identify safe and dangerous areas – our confidence increased from start to finish. When my friend felt unwell the team were on hand to help in a friendly way and offer their assistance.
I’d say that no one should get on the water without first going on this course!
Cannot recommend highly enough for anyone who wants to give it a go :)
Foraging course
22nd April 2023. I went to a foraging day at the Haddon Hall estate. What a super day out. Beautiful surroundings. Top class bushcraft instructors. So much was learnt in a single day. Already looking to book my third adventure with Woodland Ways.
Foraging Course 101
I’ve been looking into doing a foraging course for a long long time, but could never make my mind up on where to take the course… After reading loads of reviews on various schools I decided to book with these guys…I took foraging course with the lads at Woodland Ways yesterday…. Well I’m not gonna lie.. I still had a few doubts about if it was going to be any good…but it was way better than I expected… the instructors are friendly, extremely knowledgeable and have a sense of humour…. From the moment I got there to the time we finished was absolutely awesome… these guys didn’t just tell you about the edibles and all the info that comes with knowing the plants… but they even knew the folk law from history regarding the plants… i don’t often give places 5 star ratings… but… I can’t actually fault any part of the course… and that to me is extremely frustrating as a chef 😂😂…
All I can say is…these guys are definitely on point… you know right from the start that this is not just a job to them… it’s a way of life… so if your thinking about doing a course in foraging or bushcraft… then this is who you need to be booking with…it’s money well spent for life time skills… 😎👊🏻
Get out your comfort zone
Not everyday you can say you ate dandelions, dock leaves, jaggy nettles and sticky willow (willies) for lunch. Excellent day foraging with Woodland Ways. Would totally recommend these guys. The instructors Dav and Andy are bursting with knowledge and fascinating to listen to. If you are looking to get out your comfort zone and try something different then start here. 🌳 🌺 🪵
Family bushcraft overnight stay (Derby
Family bushcraft overnight stay (Derby, Bakewell). Had an amazing time at woodlandways with my x2 kids building a shelter to sleep in overnight, wild food prep, wood carving, fire lighting, animal tracking and more and more. Ian and Patrick were amazing instructors giving advice and help for both days and always able to give interesting and detailed answers to any questions me or the kids asked. Great mix of fun and learning, this is from someone’s who has never slept in the woods and can’t explain how much we all enjoyed it. Amazing!
Bushcraft weekend
Joined the team for the bushcraft weekend this weekend gone. What an experience. Ian and his team (Andy and Patrick) were great instructors, full of knowledge and advice. The location is fantastic, a beautiful forest surrounds the camp making the whole experience feel more remote. There was a good group of people on the course everyone participated and contributed there experiences and thoughts. I’ve left the weekend having learnt an incredible amount and new found respect of the world we have. I’m already hoping to booking with the team again. Hopefully in Sweden 🇸🇪 next time.
Brilliant day's foraging
I have just attended the day foraging course in Oxford with Ian, Richard and Bill. As usual the day was packed with information as we gathered the plants that we would cook later over the camp fire. We were shown how to prep pigeons and guided to cook an amazing 2 course meal, as well as following up with a discussion on foraging and the law, knife law and plenty of guidance around books and resources for us to continue our foraging journey. This is so much more than a "foraging course" - the instructors were amazing and led the day brilliantly, with friendly humour, patience, and in depth knowledge imparted with the clear passion they had for not only the subject, but in making sure we had the best experience. We had a great day in wonderful company and beautiful surroundings having learned so much. Thank you guys for all your hard work - we will be back for the spring one!
Perfect For Nature Lovers
We did a spring foraging course in Derbyshire, and it was an amazing experience. Ian and Davey were really friendly and knowledgeable, the course was really hands-on, and prior to the day any queries I had were answered quickly and clearly. Perfect for anyone interesting in getting into foraging!
Great courses
Been on two courses with Woodland Ways in Derbyshire: Bushcraft Weekend summer 2021 and Edge Tools and Spoon Carving day course Spring 2022. Both times I learned a huge amount from their friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. The site itself is lovely: it's private managed woodland; little streams; plenty of wildlife (if you're quiet and still). The food (provided for the weekend course) was excellent in quality and quantity, and there's always hot water for a brew. Very safety conscious (good news if you're using axes and knives!). For anyone interested in bushcraft, or in simply getting outdoors and doing something different, I would heartily recommend Woodland Ways courses. I will be coming back later this year for another weekend and I'm looking forward to it!
Fantastic!!
Great shop that always does fast and well packaged deliveries. The courses are simply fantastic and really well run. After taking a few courses myself my wife became intrigued and we are now both attend courses alone and as a couple.
Friendly, professional, reliable
One of the online shops I tend to browse very regularly. Great choice of products, fast deliveries, very friendly personnel. I am very tempted to take part in their Sweden expedition in 2021!

We have nothing but praise for Woodland…
We have nothing but praise for Woodland Ways - for starters, for twice allowing us to postpone our already overdue bookings due to an operation, to helping us out with getting our van started when we left. The weekend itself (bushcraft at the Oxfordshire site) was really great. Richard and Barry were our instructors, and they were both lovely, informative, diligent, and fun. The site itself is really well laid out, with some sheltered space for eating and teaching, and all the kit you need is provided. (We had bought stuff that was suggested on the kit list, but you probably don't need to splash out beforehand). We learned a lot in two days, and although it's quite exposing to be sleeping outside in the woods, never felt unsafe. We're definitely looking at furthering our woodland education after this experience. It was a good intro, and made us hungry to get stuck into an even more practical learning. Should you be thinking the same thing, you could do a lot worse than book a weekend with this lot.
Wonderful company
I have been a woodland ways customer for many years. Great team with loads of knowledge. Their expeditions are literally life changing. Well stocked shop but I usually end up using the website. 10/10

Happy to be their customer.
I ordered an item from their online shop which arrived on time, unfortunately I had a problem with the item but Woodland Ways sorted this out for me and I would be happy to give them my custom again.
Thank you.

I placed my first order from their website last week. Item arrived quickly and prices were reasonable. Problem free purchase and a decent website.
