My sister arranged her wedding through JOY and, as part of this, guests were given links to hotels in the area with discounted rates.
I booked a hotel through the link provided by JOY and received an email confirmation showing the correct hotel. Later, because I wanted to arrange an early check-in, I checked the booking details through their system and discovered that the hotel I had actually been booked into was in Germany.
I double-checked my confirmation email and that clearly stated the correct UK hotel, so this appears to have been an error within JOY's booking system rather than anything I entered incorrectly.
Unfortunately, the customer service afterwards was extremely disappointing. Initially there was effectively no apology, and I was simply told to cancel the booking. There was no offer to help correct the booking, no compensation, and no real acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused.
Because the wedding is now much closer, booking the correct hotel again will cost me around 40% more than when I originally made the reservation. That is an additional cost I now have to absorb because of an error that was not mine.
I have since tried to contact JOY again to explain the increased cost and ask them to reconsider the situation, but my emails are now bouncing back, which makes the whole experience even more frustrating.
Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how a company deals with them. In this case, I feel the response has fallen well short of what I would expect from a company handling accommodation bookings connected to something as important as a wedding.
Very disappointing experience.

By far, the WORST travel booking experience I have ever had. We booked two rooms to travel to a family wedding. Unfortunately, my 81 year old father became ill and cannot travel. The hotel said they would gladly cancel ONE room on the reservation and refund the money BUT withjoy.com had booked the room, so withjoy.com needed to just cancel ONE room off the reservation. The hotel stated they were completely refundable rooms. Unfortunately, withjoy.com refused to cancel only one room on the reservation. Stated that they could only cancel the entire reservation. They further stated that they "could not guarantee" a refund. So we are left with the options of paying for two rooms while only using one OR cancelling BOTH rooms and having to find somewhere else to stay days before the wedding.
"Customer Service" has blatantly lied to us, stating the the refund and reservation issues are the "vendor's" fault, while the hotel has told us the exact opposite.
withjoy.com is a decent tool for wedding websites, RSVPs etc. But please, do not subject your wedding guests to their travel /booking features. They are at best not user friendly, but honestly the treatment we have received feels like they are fraudlent.

Features are great but it seems the website can be very slow to refresh sometimes (thinking of the guest list). The app seems good but I don't use it much. I would like to be able to have the same functionalities from the web browser on the app. Also for invitations and save the dates, some very interesting items have been indicated as "coming soon" for a while now which is a bit disappointing. Creating your own website is very easy though! Overall, I would recommend compared to other platforms I have tried but the solution is not perfect.

They sent emails to my guests without my knowledge. I only used the rsvp portion and not the website portion, so the emails really didn’t make sense when it tried to link to my Joy website that didn’t exist.
You also can’t group people on the app the way you can on a desktop, and on a desktop only. Which is not that convenient when you’re on the go.
The rsvp feature otherwise was helpful especially the messaging.

The interface is very user friendly and love how it is set up. Me and my fiance loved to use it.
My only take away would be, to be able to remove the standard columns on the guests list that I did not end up using.

Your site is not as intuitive as I would have expected. Guest list usability: I haven't figured out how to add a+1 for someone if I didn't put it in originally. The guest edit screen is meh.
There are questions in the question section that I don't want. It's not obvious how to just delete one. Another meh experience.

Amazing website! It has everything conveniently organized for wedding planning, including invitations, the itinerary, the wedding program, and the gift registry. It's an excellent tool, especially for couples planning a wedding on a budget.

I have found Joy to be incredibly easy to use, and it's been a helpful tool as I've been planning my wedding! The design platform of the website offers a variety of customization without being overwhelming. I love the guest list and RSVP features, and have found that to be so important with tracking and communicating with guests. The registry and "add to joy" feature has been amazing.
I love that I can direct my guests to this platform because it has all of the information they need in one place.

In the beginning it was very frustrating, but like many things the learning curve starts taking over.
An issue we had was going back & forth to what had to be done on a laptop vs what we could do on a phone. Some of us are getting away from computers and only use our phones or tablets.
I didn’t take full advantage of all that Joy had to offer as we decided on a wedding with only about 4 months to plan. Plus, as we are mature couple, with multiple households, we asked our guests for no gifts, therefore never even looked at the registry section.
Mostly we used Joy for website, guest list, tracking RSVP’s & reminders, meal selections, questions & answers, hotel stay info.

Not the easiest to navigate at first, but when you get the hang of it, it’s a fantastic portal with a range of built in functions for planning the wedding.
Aesthetically pretty with lots of design options to choose from - it helped us build our theme for the wedding stationary also. Fantastic for a free website x

Simple and easy never had an issue. Free of charge also. Only problem was being unable to use the registry as it didn't have Australian stores or products and couldn't set up a cash fund in AUD.

Setting up the website was really easy and building a guest list and tagging different groups really helps.

So: creating the website was very painful. Really slow loading times, lots of latency, painful to put together, but it did look decent once we'd gone through that painful process of getting it made, and RSVP system worked, so some credit there.
What started to frustrate me was the money-grabbing element of it. We saw they had an inbuilt gift registry system and thought that since we'd already built a website that it would be easiest way, but they didn't provide a way for guests to do direct bank transfers or a paypal integration, and charged a minimum 5% fee on contributions - one very generous aunt wanted to give £500 and was going to get charged £27 and contacted me because she thought it wasn't appropriate. Several guests were put off and did the same, and they also default people into buying £6 e-cards! They claim the transaction fee is a foreign card fee, but when I mentioned to support they lied to me and said it was only a 2.5% fee or something. Was really off-putting, and I had to put in lots of info about how to circumvent WithJoy's fees to avoid embarrassment. A sad frustration on an otherwise lovely wedding experience
