I was not directly acustomer with this agency, but buying the property through William H Brown and I can share a very positive feedback. During my mortgage procedure they supported me the same as their seller customer and I am extremely greatful for Emma Powell who dealt with my case. She made outstanding effort to make the completion date done as planned.
Thank you very much for the exceptional support

Not recommended

Colchester Branch
The worst property agent I can think off. They promised the world and delivered not a single viewing in two month. We gave notice and the property is still on the main portals in their name after 28 days notice.

Wakefield Selling your house? Don't rely on any personal service. Money for nothing.

Wakefield. Sold my house in 6 days.Very slick sales pitch and careful photographer arranged to present the house in its best light. Used their conveyancer who was thorough and meticulous. However, their selling fixed fee (over £4,000) was high, as the VAT was added on at the billing point. I have to say they then did NOTHING for their money. No emails were replied to. I went into the office and asked about who was co-ordinating my sale with my related purchase.(Not one of theirs , so they were disinterested) Annette shrugged and said, the solicitor, but she would make some calls to various parties and get back to me. No word. Complained and asked for a different agent. No reply. Final call from Annette on moving day. Could the buyers come up to the house and get the keys from me..(.so no work for them, then) Appalling customer service, with no interest in cultivating a relationship with me or providing support throughout a naturally stressful time. William Frost from Ewemove who was the the Estate Agent handling my purchase was a wonderful example of a supportive estate agent. Final spam email from WHBrown promoting mortgage deals..an absolute joke.

Shocking service

Shocking service.

Initial queries raised prior to making an offer were deemed as resolved so we went ahead and made an offer.

However, 1 week into the process and it has been determined that our initial queries were falsely resolved and that no conversation happened between the estate agent and the sellers.

Very disappointed in the service recieved - ultimately the EA’s are only concerned with providing the best service to the seller, negligent towards buyers and their requirements.

I advise not to use them!

Exceptional service

I have received exceptional service and useful advise from letting agents at William H Brown Norwich(Bank Plain). As a fresh landlady I had a lot of concerns and questions, but the lettings team has sorted things for me very well and answered all my questions. Particularly I would like to thank Fabio Almeida for excellent service, advise and especially for going far and beyond.

Bad Communication

I made an enquiry to view a property stating I could not take phone calls during work hours and would need to communicate via email. I reinstated this a further two times to them after they called and emailed me. They then proceeded to call me during work hours 9 times in 3 days. How could I possibly trust them with buying/selling a property if they can’t follow a simple request?

A joke

A joke - asked a question if there was a dishwasher and she said no, just because she was too lazy to ask the landlord.

James the agent was on his job

James the agent was on his job. And did an amazing job.Found the tenants that we hoped for. But beyond that the company was appalling. The most significant reason for this review is the tenants were handed keys to my property and no money has been paid to me. My tenants paid 6 months upfront passed their reference but as william h brown
Have no paperwork to say they passed their reference and want to pay upfront, so we are sent and indemnity email saying the tenants have not passed so prospective tenants must pay 6 months upfront.I asked why the funds have not been paid to me when tenants are i the house I was told that it was company policy that money transfers can take up to 5 days !

What an absolute joke of a company

What an absolute joke of a company. Seen a bungalow we like, rang to ask for a viewing. All they were bothered about was valuing our house and seeing a mortgage broker. They made us two appointments, one for a valuation on our house and the other for the mortgage broker. They never once got back in touch regarding us viewing the bungalow. So the day they were coming to value our house I cancelled both of their appointments. Absolutely discussing. When I cancelled she had the cheek to say they would keep us on their mailing list for future properties. I told her where they can shove any correspondence where the sun don’t shine. Rubbish company.

What a bad experience we have had with…

What a bad experience we have had with holderness road branch in hull. My son has just turned 18 and received his trust fund he wanted to get his own place so he applied which he was told twice he was accepted for two different properties so he went ahead paid the first £180 which is clearly for a credit check which is supposed to be illegal now. But they get around it by calling it a reference check.

Landlord then declined him because he is on a zero hour contract but did provide all his wage slips which was showing never under £1200.

So William h brown promised to get it sorted and put him forward for another flat which was more expensive telling my 18 year old he will defo get it he we will sort him out as quickly as possible. So again he paid another £180 deposit to get declined again. Which is non refundable this time it was with a company called Leef properties were he had to pay the £180 to even the the propertie was through William h brown.

All this company has done is take money after money we’re a month down the line lost Al that money and no flat.

It’s disgusting what these company’s are doing taking money of young vulnerable people.

Hi We’ve recently bought a house with…

Hi We’ve recently bought a house with assistance of William H brown estate agents in Stevenage.
The agent Samuel was helping us from the start to the end with his professionalism and effectiveness. He was there for us every step of the way. He managed all the process smoothly and very quickly. He was very responsive and he’s answered all our questions. We are beyond grateful for his dedication to his work and for helping us to get the mortgage and to find our perfect home. He gave us a piece of mind during this difficult time. He made everything sounds so easy and simple. It was a truly great experience and I can’t imagined to have anyone else than WilliamH brown.

Absolutely useless company

Absolutely useless company. Nobody ever replies when you need help. Can’t speak for he sales side but on the rental side avoid them at all costs. They are rude, unhelpful and never get back to you. I am a woman living on my own and they have never assisted when I have reached out to them. Horrible organisation. I am a landlady and I would never use them for my property let if you paid me

William h break you down and dissolve your housing position.

I have been a resident of William H Brown for a couple of weeks shy of 5 years.
In that time I have been betrayed for having a rent deficit of 0.02p.
Then I had a complaint of being in arrears again when in actuality I was 2 months in advance of payments.
I had to get rid of my vehicle which was parked in my assigned parking bay because it had minor crash damage to the front and now they are actively seeking to not renew my tenancy because I was attacked in my home.
Apparently the law which we should abide by that we are innocent until proven guilty does not apply to residents of William h Brown or at least as to my personal experience with their representative a Ms Christine Pratchett.
If you are a landlord you will probably be ok with this company but if you are a proposed tenant I would strongly advise you seeking alternative solutions rather than be left in the position that I am.

Ghosting time wasters

The King's Lynn branch are ghosting time wasters, called about a flat to rent in Hunstanton in April 2023 as we were relocating and they did a last minute viewing which was promising, however when we contacted them by email to express interest they never replied, I called and was told the agent would call back, they never did. We then found an amazing house with another agency shortly afterwards which was good. Fast forward to May 2025 and we have been served notice on this house as the owners want it back to turn it into an air BnB, very sad. Found a lovely bungalow in the same village we live in which seemed ideal as we love the area. Called, and again we were given a last minute viewing which was useful. Property was nice, we said we liked it and would think about it that evening. The next day the agent called and asked what the verdict was, we said we liked it and would like to be considered. We knew we were competing against others as our viewing was delayed by a prior viewing overrunning. We have not heard from them since, and having looked online, I can see it is now set as 'let agreed'. I'm not too upset that we missed out on the house as we've found an even better one since then with another agency, and they have been nothing short of brilliant and professional, and fast! However it's the principal, don't leave people hanging when they are literally trying to find somewhere to live, usually in a short space of time. Looking at my emails from 2023, it was actually the same agent that has ghosted us both times, which is so bad it's almost funny. We always seem to land on our feet thankfully, but that is absolutely no thanks to William H Brown King's Lynn! I would instead recommend Rounce and Evans or Sowerbys instead.

Disappointed

We used Stevenage branch of this company (Steve Allardyce being the agent dealing with the rental) to rent out our house. The tenants stole curtains, painted a bedroom mauve with gloss paint, left the freezer door open which resulted in a solid block of ice which took 3 days to defrost. Whilst all this was happening the letting agent made no inspections to our property to see that it was being respected. After a dispute with this company for 4 months we were given a pittance of the deposit to correct all the breakages and damage caused. I would advise anyone thinking of letting out their property to use a more professional company who will respect the owners property.
