Strong motivational system, but misleading pricing and limited device value
The user experience and support are disappointing.
Pricing is unclear and misleading, and the cancellation process is poorly handled.
My membership was cancelled immediately despite only requesting to stop auto-renewal.
Support responded, but the situation should never have escalated to this point.
Overall, not the level of transparency and control I expected.
The device itself is essentially a smartwatch without a display. It measures standard metrics like heart rate, sleep, and strain, and does not offer anything significantly beyond what regular smartwatches already provide.
However, it is fair to say that the system built around the device is genuinely effective. The recovery-based approach creates a strong motivational and decision-making framework that can help improve habits, especially around sleep and training. This is where WHOOP stands out.
In practice, the data often just confirms what you already feel — whether you are rested or fatigued. The “recovery” guidance is helpful as a system, but not necessarily because of unique data, rather because of how it is presented and structured.
I also noticed that the sleep interpretation differs from other devices, often showing more deep sleep, which raises questions about consistency rather than adding clarity.
It also fails to reliably detect naps, which is a key part of daily recovery. Without accurately capturing naps, it’s difficult to fully trust the overall recovery and sleep analysis.
Overall, for a subscription-based product, the added value of the hardware itself is limited. The main strength lies in the behavioral system, not in the device or the data alone.

Absolute sham of a company
Absolute sham of a company. I signed up for a 12 month subscription and toward the end of my term (about 11 days ago) I cancelled the membership renewal so that they wouldn’t automatically charge me for a 2nd year and i even received a confirmation of the cancellation. But these scammers just sent me an email today saying they’re trying to bill me for another year and asked me to leave enough in my bank account so that they can charge me for it despite the cancellation that I’ve put through?
Misleading “Free Trial” and Frustrating Experience
I am extremely disappointed with my experience using WHOOP. While the concept is good, the overall process—from sign-up to cancellation—was confusing, frustrating, and not worth the time or money.
I signed up for what was advertised as a 30-day free trial, expecting to pay only £7.99 for delivery. Instead, £100 was immediately charged to my account with no clear warning. This was later refunded, but it immediately raised concerns. Then, a week later, there was another card verification charge, despite still being within the trial period.
The device itself did not deliver what I expected. It does not include blood pressure monitoring, which was the main reason I wanted it. On top of that, the strap repeatedly fell off my wrist, even during light activity, making it impractical to use.
When I tried to cancel, I was told I had to pay £5.99 to end the trial. I checked the terms and conditions carefully and could not find any clear mention of this specific charge. This felt misleading.
Customer support made things worse. I was unable to speak to a real person, and the chatbot simply told me to email customer service. It even generated the email for me instead of just escalating the issue internally, which felt unnecessarily complicated.
In the end, I paid the £5.99 just to avoid further hassle and returned the device. In total, I spent around £14 for less than a week of use on what was supposed to be a “free trial.”
After cancelling, I received confirmation that my membership had ended—but then another email the next day saying there was a payment issue and requesting funds, which raised further concerns about billing.
Overall, this is not a free trial. It feels like a confusing and poorly communicated process with unexpected charges and limited support.
I would strongly recommend avoiding WHOOP unless you are prepared for potential hidden costs, difficulty cancelling, and a frustrating support experience
There are a lot better devices out…
There are a lot better devices out there. I run gym and walk everyday and what it records is mainly overload but doesnt consider everyone is slightly different. The data it provides is limited, bought a garmin cheaper long term and does a lot more. £220 a year for a strap with limited data is bonkers
Love the design
Love the design, sleek and modern, comfortable to use on daily basis and it helps me to organize workouts better
Disgraceful treatment of customers
I ordered a Whoop bracelet and was very disappointed with the service. At first, I received an empty parcel at all — without the bracelet itself, which had the order number B60021026. I immediately contacted customer support, and, fortunately, they agreed to send a replacement with the order number B60586116. But then the situation got even worse: for objective reasons, I was unable to collect the replacement parcel in time, and it was returned to the sender.
Since then, I have been trying to contact the company again to resolve the issue, but the response has been complete silence. My messages go unanswered; I receive no help or explanation. It seems that once the sale is complete, the customer simply ceases to exist for them.
It’s a real shame, as the product looks high-quality, but this level of service completely puts me off dealing with this company.
A complete piece of junk!!!!
A complete piece of junk is the most accurate descriptor. Out of the box and download the app the silver buckle broke the first time I tried to put it on. Naturally customer service is nonexistent.
This is a scam
This is a scam ! After free trial I have returned device and received a confirmation that refund will be issued within 5-10 days… 43 days later no money !!!! I don’t understand how Steven Barlet can advertise this company . Avoid !
Every great tragedy begins with…
Every great tragedy begins with something beautiful.
Mine began in 2022, when I strapped a WHOOP to my wrist and fell completely in love. Recovery scores. Strain tracking. Sleep analysis so accurate it felt like the band knew me better than I knew myself. I recommended it to friends. Family. Colleagues. Anyone who'd listen. I was, in every measurable sense, a WHOOP evangelist.
Then, after four years of loyal use, the hardware started failing. Naturally, I reached out to support.
What followed was a masterclass in how to dismantle customer loyalty with breathtaking efficiency. First, an AI support bot so condescending it made me feel like I'd asked a philosophy professor why the sky is blue. It didn't answer my question — it reframed it, explained it back to me, and concluded that I was probably confused. I was not confused. I was simply a four-year paying customer asking a straightforward question about a failing device.
When I finally reached a human, the experience didn't improve so much as it changed shape.
And then there's the pricing. Now, I'm a grown adult. I understand subscriptions. I understand contracts. What I don't understand is why the terms feel like they were written by someone whose goal was to obscure rather than inform. The kind of opacity that doesn't feel accidental.
Here's the heartbreaking part: the product itself was brilliant. Genuinely. I say this not as a caveat, but as a eulogy. Because a great product surrounded by poor support, patronising AI, and murky commercial practices isn't a great product anymore — it's a warning.
I've been a loyal customer for four years. I've sent WHOOP more referrals than their marketing team probably deserves credit for. And yet here I am, writing a Trustpilot review instead of renewing.
That should tell you everything.
If you're considering WHOOP: the hardware may impress you — for a while. Just make sure you never need to contact anyone about it.
super bad customer service fully AI…
super bad customer service fully AI generated. Their business model is to steal your money even if you're not using their device
I love my whoop
I love my whoop, has helped me to change distinct behaviors in my life
Wife can't wear it.
My wife was unable to put it on by herself, so I would have to do it. However, the band would still fall off and now it has fallen off and it is lost. Absolute waste of money.
What a Garbage company
What a Garbage company. You are suing small competitors for your own profit. Let place for innovation'
SELFISH! I am never going to use your device anymore and forever
Such a waste of money!!!!!
Such a waste of money!!!!!! Pages and pages of the same info for sleep and activities and STILL doesn’t give as much info as other trackers! Aaaaand you get to pay the cost of a new watch every year for subscription? What in the actual heck????!!!! Absolutely sucked!
Do not use them. Terrible!
Whoop advertised a free trial and I decided to try it.
They sent me a faulty device.
There is no help line or anyway that I could find to discuss this with them.
I had to cancel the free trial and I was charged for returning (and recieving) the faulty device...
I know they are legit, but it sure felt like I was scammed.
They take money without any…
They take money without any justification
bad agent , bad services
NO REFUNDS!
Charged EUR 264 for an annual membership immediately after my trial ended. Requested a refund in writing within hours — refused by an AI-driven support system with generic replies, despite WHOOP's own Terms stating: "If you are inadvertently charged for a Membership and provide us with written notice of the error, WHOOP will have the charges reversed."
No meaningful human escalation available. Initiated a chargeback through my bank as the only remaining option.
Beyond the refund issue: the "monthly" billing option is misleading — it's only available after a 12-month commitment. Trial users are effectively locked into annual billing the moment the trial ends.
Hardware quality aside, the subscription practices and AI-only support are not acceptable for a premium brand.
terrible customer service and double charged
terrible customer service. Charged me twice for the same device because I switched the email on the device to my son's email since I am giving it to him to use. Exchanged dozens of messages with them and still no resolution. They will not share details or proof of second device being ordered and the shipping/delivery proof for privacy reasons, but the charge was on MY CREDIT CARD! There is no live chat or phone support. Go with the Oura or just stick with an apple watch.
