I have a complaint regarding Whirlpool…
I have a complaint regarding Whirlpool dishwasher, model WDT730HAMZ0, which has exhibited a serious &widely reported defect that Whirlpool appears aware of but has not adequately addressed. I purchased this dishwasher for approximately $700 & in the same order, spent about $3,000 total on Whirlpool appliances. This was a purchase of multiple major appliances from Whirlpool based on an expectation of reliability & consistency. For several months, the dishwasher began turning on by itself. This occurred repeatedly & raised concerns about safety & electrical malfunction. Its now completely lost power and no longer functions. After researching, I found many other consumers reporting the same failure pattern: the unit 1st powers on by itself, then later loses all power entirely. These reports consistently describe failures occurring between 6 mos and 2 yrs after purchase, which aligns w/ my experience & suggests a systemic defect rather than isolated incidents or normal wear. This is not just an inconvenience—it raises legitimate safety concerns. A unit that activates on its own may present a fire or electrical risk. The number of similar complaints suggests a broader defect rather than a one-off issue. Despite widespread reports, Whirlpool has not issued a recall, service bulletin, or clear acknowledgment of the problem. Some consumers report being contacted & receiving free repairs after filing complaints, suggesting the company may already be aware of the issue.
These consumers, myself included, deserve: 1. Full repair or replacement of the unit at no cost. 2. Formal acknowledgment and investigation of this defect 3. Consideration of recall or extended warranty coverage for affected units. I expect Whirlpool to take responsibility for what appears to be a known and recurring defect and seek a prompt resolution. If necessary, I am prepared to escalate this matter further due to safety implications & the number of consumers affected. Sincerely, Amy Heinz
