Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 250 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported that their appliances, including washers, stoves, refrigerators, and microwaves, stopped working or malfunctioned shortly after purchase, some within months or a few years. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with product quality, such as a washer tank rusting, a dryer stopping after 10 minutes, or a refrigerator light failing prematurely, indicating a lack of durability. The customer service was widely criticized for long wait times, unhelpful representatives, and an inability to resolve problems, often leading to frustration and repeated calls without resolution. Many also expressed dissatisfaction with the warranty process, finding that advertised 10-year warranties did not cover critical parts or that service providers were unwilling to honor them, leading to significant repair costs. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that despite initial damage, their issue was eventually resolved with a replacement and follow-up, suggesting some positive outcomes in specific cases.

Purchased a Maytag frost free freeze in 2024

purchased a Maytag frost free freeze in March, 2024. Freezer malfunctioning December 2025, just before Christmas. Food defrosting. One would think a new freezer wouldn't quit in less that 2 years.
Service man changed the start kit and charged $307.00. Didn't fix it. Said the compressor has failed. The compressor is cover under warranty but not the labor of 400-500 dollars to fix it. if we fix it we will have almost the cost of what we paid for the Freezer.
Do not buy a Maytag frost free freezer made by WHIRLPOOL CORP.

Whirlpool top load

Purchased a BRAND new Whirlpool Model WTW4816FW3 around Sept 9,2025 for daughter. Approx Nov 6 ,2025 quit working. Since then their local tech team has replaced three control panels.
Total ( counting one in machine at time of purchase ) is now four control panels. Machine has been inoperable since then. TWICE after tech team has replaced panel, they tried to fill tub with water, nothing worked , in addition water leaked from under unit onto flooring. Now tech team was told from Whirlpool to replace another part ( now on backorder). Calls to Whirlpool have changed my case number twice. Looking at online reviews : this model has serious issues. NOTHING settled yet .
I ( we ) will never buy another Whirlpool product.

Welcome to the customer service…

Welcome to the customer service transfer machine.
Dishwasher broke now we are trying to get our oven fixed. Same experience, over 1 hour on the phone transferred 6 TIMES!!! I'm sorry that's absolutely insane. I gave each person every time model and serial number. To get the appliance just looked, that's right just looked at $130 bucks. OR you can pay this scam company $32 a month for 12 months.
Someone is making a lot of money and its prob not the employees because they are clueless. That leaved the higher up and clearly they don't care about there customer. Anyone who can count to 10 can see that.

Awful product

Awful product! Purchased a new washer model WTW6157PW1 for almost a grand and about a month later the control panel went on it. Lowes where we purchased it, refused a return and when Whirlpool was contacted because its under warranty, they still made us purchase an extended warranty plan to come out and fix it. The repairman could not fix it due to the control panel being on back order and said it could take up to a few months! I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.

What Customer Service they don't have any

They could actually try and help instead of telling you that you must contact a certified repair person to add a longer drain hose to a washer. Have the extension just need the coupler......what a joke outfit....I will find what I need....never again

Hard to deal with repair company

I bought a top loading washing machine. 10 months ago. Because it is still under manufacture warranty I had to deal with Whirlpool Repair company. He came out and assessed the problem, ordered parts. Past came in, he came back 12 days later and installed new parts. The machine still didn’t work. He ordered parts again and they came in 3 days ago. I call the company and they cannot come back for another 20 days. That makes 5 weeks we have been without a washing machine. I have contacted Lowe’s but they will not do anything because it is under manufacture warranty. I will never purchase another whirlpool and would not recommend them to anyone.

Avoid whirlpool appliances

Avoid whirlpool appliances. Reliability & customer service is awful. Purchased a new washer in October, failed on Christmas Day, 2.5 months old. Repairman has diagnosed, needs a control board, none in stock, on back order, whirlpool solution is to wait 14 days before working an alternate solution! Choose another brand!

DO NOT BUY! Purchased a new model WFW560CHW4 washer…

Purchased a new model WFW560CHW4 washer and heat pump model WHD560CHW2 dryer. After less than 2 years and many expensive repairs we are trashing the machines and buying a different brand. The washer often doesn't spin out and only spins at 800 RPMs which is not sufficient for a heat pump dryer. We were told during initial repairs that nothing was wrong with it but now we're told it might be a control board issue which is at least $450 but might not resolve the issue and will never make it spin faster. The dryer is poorly designed and difficult to clean the lint filter. Needless to say it does not work well when the lint filter isn't clean but despite purchasing special brushes and vacuum attachments and religiously cleaning it after every load it still takes 3 to 4 hours to dry every load. We had hoped to have energy savings with these products but rerunning the spin cycle on at least 50% of the loads and having the dryer run for hours has negated any potential efficiency. Whirlpool offered no recourse other than 20% a new machine. Obviously, that's not an option that I would consider. I just hope to prevent others from making the same costly mistake. DO NOT BUY these inferior and poorly engineered products.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Customer Service

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Customer Service – James in Norwalk, Connecticut
I want to take a moment to recognize James in Norwalk, Connecticut, for providing truly excellent customer service. I was very disappointed when I learned that the 10-year warranty on my dryer was limited and did not cover as much as I had expected. I’ll admit, my frustration showed in my tone of voice.
Despite that, James remained calm, patient, and highly professional throughout the entire conversation. He took the time to clearly explain the warranty details and then walked me through the additional and extended warranty options available. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and never made me feel rushed or dismissed.
The extended warranty James recommended was very cost-effective and gave me the coverage and peace of mind I was looking for. Because of his professionalism, kindness, and excellent communication, I felt confident purchasing the extended warranty through him—and I ended the call feeling happy and well taken care of.
James turned a frustrating situation into a positive experience, and that speaks volumes about his customer service skills. He is truly an asset to his team, and I greatly appreciate his help.
Highly recommend working with James!

Worst refrigerator ever quit running during Christmas.

Evidently the control panel must be out. Refrigerator and freezer not working. Lights have gone out previously and requires a contortionist to get to the freezer light. It is a weirdly shaped expensive little thing too. This is the worst appliance we have ever owned. Do NOT waste your money on this brand.

My son purchased a Maytag washer in…

My son purchased a Maytag washer in 2018 for me. November 2025, I started having problems. The beginning of December it shut down. I called the store it was purchased from and was told it was under warranty. I was referred to Whirlpool. Whirlpool CSR said only the drum and motor were still under warranty.
CSR started sales pitch for extended warranty. I caved and finally purchased an extended warranty. I was then given an appliance repair service. The service was scheduled for 12/12/2025. Service Tech didn't have the parts. Tech said he would order the parts and be back on the 12/19/2025. Flamingo sent a text and gave me the options of the 23rd and 24th of Dec. To schedule the repair. Bummer. Another Flamingo Tech arrived and put in the control lock latch. He did not put the control panel on the washer. ???? The tech left after the repair. I received an invoice for the part used to complete the repair even tho I had purchased a warranty. I tried calling. Whirlpool's friendliness ends after the purchase. The automated service call/menu will cut you off if you are unsure of the question or give the wrong answer. This has been a very trying experience.

I have a 14 month old washer

I have a 14 month old washer , the service board failed , I had to use chat gnt to find out there was a recall on it after hours of being bsed by customer service, they said they would send someone out , the 3rd parts company called me and said the part is on backorder and some customers have been waiting for 80 days ,because they can only buy from there distributer. I spend more time talking to customer service and had to use chat gbt again to find out whirlpool is responsible for sending me the new part ,I can change it myself, they was rude and very unhelpful, it has been a week and a half and they still haven't shipped the part out! They should notify the customers who purchased the product with the faulty part and replace it before it fails if possible! But they literally are as rude and unhelpful as possible getting it fixed or even just replacing
the recalled part! My last washer lasted 18 years this one 14 months.

I bought dryer model wed5720ruo in Septermber 2025 and it has not worked right. I call service a month a go and they came two weeks later 12/22/2025 with a small bag and screw driver. They did not know even where to start, still not fixed.
They told me they will come back next year. Still I have no dryer. The service call center are very rude and you have to wait for 40 minutes to talk to anyone.

Dishwasher poor quality plus poor customer service

Dishwasher poor quality, not operating properly from day. One told I had extended warranty on top of the warranty that I automatically got from the builder. Eventually, the machine is totally broken and according to them conveniently warranty is up last month. Would not recommend the machine or their service

This company sucks

This company sucks! No dryer power cord, no water supply lines for washer, no dryer vent... All information held until delivery completed. Attempting to contact customer support is a nightmare. Another example of a shit company not interested in a dedicated customer, only money up front. I will never buy from this horrible company again

DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES

One year ago I purchased a Whirlpool washer. I have always favored Whirlpool appliances in the past. This washer turns on in the middle of the night BY ITSELF; does not complete cycles & is inoperable. I finally got through to Whirlpool & they advised that Platinum Factory Service would handle the repair. Platinum called & advised that this washer has been in RECALL SINCE 2023; I bought this in 2024! Further, thousands of washers have a defective board and it is on back order. Why is Lowes still selling this washer? Greed I suppose. The Whirlpool rep was rude, abrasive & could care less. I spoke to Platinum & they will expedite the part asap. I still will not have a washer for 3-4 weeks. A Class Action lawsuit was filed because their washers were growing mold. Would they work harder if another Class Action lawsuit was filed? Probably not. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES AT ALL & AVOID PURCHASING ANY APPLIANCES AT LOWES. They knew about the RECALL & still sold the washer.

Whirlpool washer broke in first year

Purchased a Whirlpool washer at Costco in December 2024 and it broke in late November 2025. Unfortunately as part of the warranty service, I was set up with a terrible service provider called Goodman Home Solutions. I wrote a separate review about them.

As far as service from Whirlpool, they were not very helpful in either finding a way to push Goodman Home Solutions to give better service or not immediately helping by getting me connected with a new service provider. I was told that since a work order was open with Goodman Home Solutions, they could not help me work with a new service provider. It took almost 3 weeks to get the washer repaired from Goodman Home Solutions. I'll choose another appliance next time.

Defective Appliance with Zero Accountability

We purchased a brand-new Whirlpool washing machine from Best Buy, and it has been a complete failure from day one.

The machine has broken down three times despite being used exactly as instructed and with minimal detergent. Each service visit resulted in the same dismissive response: “use less detergent” — even though this was clearly not the issue. No real solution was ever provided.

What makes this worse is the customer service. We have spent days calling Whirlpool, being transferred from one department to another, with no accountability or resolution.

We run a luxury barbershop, and this machine is critical to our daily operations. Due to Whirlpool’s faulty product and lack of support, we were forced to outsource laundry services at significant cost, causing serious disruption to our business.

This has been an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience. Based on our experience, Whirlpool sells "unreliable products" and provides "very poor after-sales support". We strongly regret this purchase and would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone, especially businesses that rely on their appliances.
