Nightmare - Time wasting
They contacted me about switching my electricity, as they said I was out of control, I told them I was on holidays and would look into a change, James said I would be put on a high rate if I didn't change providers. He said Electric Ireland had a much better rate than Energia, so I agreed to change. Then Energia said I was in contact for more than a month and would have to pay an exit fee, I told James to cancel the change. He claims he did, but hadn't. The claimed GDPR wouldn't let him. But he was the one that contacted them in the first place. It took about 10 phone calls between Energia & Electric Ireland to get it sorted. WeSwitchU are still charging me €40 for the switch.
Don't waste your time or money with then.

To clarify the circumstances of your case, WeSwitchU had originally switched your account to Energia on a standard (non-smart) tariff. At a later stage, your smart meter was activated directly with your supplier. In many cases, this process results in customers being moved onto a smart tariff and entering a new contract term with their existing supplier.
At the time we arranged your subsequent switch, we were unaware that your tariff and contract status had changed, as this information had not been provided to us. When it later became apparent that an early exit fee could apply, we worked with both suppliers to assist in resolving the matter and cancelling the switch request.
We appreciate that the process was frustrating and required more contact with the suppliers than either of us would have liked. However, we would like to clarify that WeSwitchU did not charge a €40 switching fee in this case. As the switch was cancelled within the cooling-off period, no WeSwitchU service charge became payable.
Our aim is always to provide recommendations based on the information available to us at the time and to help customers achieve the best possible savings. We regret that this experience did not meet your expectations and wish you all the best going forward.
