Seats do not recline at all
Congested seats with no recline at all on the flight (Boeing 737-800/-8). Back got into trouble even before take off and have to bear it for 4 hours flight. It was uncomfortable experience, West jet pushed it to extreme.
Don't fly Westjet
First Cancelled flight which cost me not just expenses but lost business revenue.
When they finally scraped together a crew the next day they called it a rescue flight which was an hour and a half late leaving 18:20 then five and half hour flight they had no food onboard and had the audacity to charge for simple nuts. Don't book this airline.
Delayed baggage and poor communication
We arrived on Flight 461 from Toronto, which was already delayed, and then waited over an hour at baggage claim with no luggage and no clear information. Eventually, an announcement was made saying that due to weather and staffing shortages, there was no ETA at all for when bags would arrive — and passengers were told they could just go home and come back another day to collect their luggage.
This is unacceptable customer service. After a long travel day, passengers should not be left standing indefinitely with zero updates or realistic timelines. Telling people to return another day without any proactive solution, delivery option, or compensation shows a complete lack of respect for customers’ time and inconvenience.
There was no transparency, no accountability, and no meaningful assistance offered on the ground. Weather and staffing issues may explain delays, but they do not excuse poor communication and lack of basic customer care.
Based on this experience — and judging by how common these complaints seem to be — WestJet seriously needs to improve how it handles delayed baggage and passenger communication. I would think twice before flying with them again.
Dec 18
Dec 18, 2025, travel disruption: My WestJet connection WS3424 (Vancouver → Prince George) was cancelled. At YVR I was told to collect my three checked bags and wait for an email. I received only a $15 food voucher and no clear rebooking guidance, accommodation direction, or a workable way to reach support (phone/chat repeatedly failed; today, after nearly two hours on hold, the call disconnected).
I’m asking WestJet to (1) cancel the automatic rebooking without penalty, (2) provide clear instructions for submitting out-of-pocket expenses, and (3) process my passenger-rights claim in line with Canadian rules. I’m happy to share booking details privately by DM.
Absolute failure of basic responsibility
WestJet cancelled my flight two hours before boarding for a holiday trip to see my grandmother in the hospital, before Christmas and potentially for her last Christmas with us... No warning. No contingency. Just a blunt cancellation and a shrug.
They claimed it was due to “unscheduled maintenance.” Fine. Safety matters. But safety does not excuse zero notice, rude staff, and actively trying to avoid accountability.
At the airport, staff were dismissive and unhelpful. I was told I couldn’t get a refund, then offered rebooking options that were honestly insulting. One option had me arriving only hours before my return flight was scheduled to leave days later. In other words, they expected me to spend more time traveling than actually being with my family. Completely unreasonable.
This wasn’t just an inconvenience. This was a missed holiday, emotional stress, and time I will never get back. WestJet treated it like a spreadsheet problem instead of a human one.
I’ve flown with many airlines. Delays happen. Cancellations happen. What’s unforgivable is the lack of empathy, lack of ownership, and lack of basic customer care when it matters most.
I will never fly WestJet again. I strongly recommend others think twice before trusting them with anything important, especially holidays, family milestones, or time-sensitive travel. When things go wrong, you learn who a company really is. This experience said everything.
Worst airline I have ever flown with…
Worst airline I have ever flown with (and I fly many times a year).
Their service is the worst I have experienced—truly very low quality. They are unorganized and chaotic, both the flight attendants and the staff at the check-in counter.
The planes are extremely dirty, very old, and show heavy wear and tear.
Avoid this company if you can.
Zero stars would be more accurate
Zero stars would be more accurate. Every LessJet experience is lousy. Applying today for refund of seat upgrade fees. Their link for that is *** en-tc/interruptions/upgrade-refund-request It requires the date of the flight but their system is set to disallow you from selecting a service date less than 30 days old. So you can't apply right away. This has the effect of inconveniencing the customer. You now have to diarize for 30 days to make the application. You are less likely to take the time to apply for a refund after that time.
Terrible experience
If I could give a lower rating than one star I would. We typically fly AC but had to buy a ticket on WestJet to get our daughter from home for Christmas this year. First her flight was delayed due to “staffing” and then because of “mechanical issues” with constantly changing times on departure. The call center was unavailable - not even a wait time, just “not available”. The flight went late, everyone was dumped at Calgary airport at midnight with no new flights booked, no vouchers for food, no hotels offered and no one answering questions. We travel 2-3 year on AC and have never had that experience. When we did experience a cancellation we were met as we walked off the plane by an agent, handed vouchers and notified of our new flight.
I will never use WestJet again.
Horrible 4 hours of travel
Horrible 4hours of travel. The economy seats have zero leg room. People were filled like sardines. There was no in flight entertainment for such a long flight. First round of snacks was offered by purchase only. Then the cabin crew came with another round of complimentary snacks. But people had already bought stuff on the first round.
Economy class seats are horrible. There is not room to move your leg or even recline the seat a little bit. Someone can get a DVT while sitting in such closed space and no area to move their legs. I would definitely avoid travelling in West jet because I cannot afford anything more that Economy class and their seats are just horrible.
Also charged us a WHOPPING $80 per checked bag
YVR US flight
18 Dec 2025
I was standing in the baggage assistance at the YVR US flight for nearly an hour just because I needed to do a military bag check in. All the agent were going through every priority not even brother to alternate. Priority have their own line and agent. They need at least one or two for only for severing baggage assistance not every priority boarding that just hope in. It was good thing I arrived early or otherwise I would have miss my flight despite following the three hour rule
West jet experience
I was travelling from Deline to Calgary and had to book with two airlines, North wright and WestJet. No issues with North wright, arrived in yellow knife and went to the main airport for departure. WestJet flight kept getting delayed so I asked if I could be given food voucher as I left in the morning and haven’t had an chance to eat, they said no. Then finally an email was sent that the flight has been cancelled. The airport staff gave guest services number and disappeared. When called the number, there was an auto response, “we cannot take your call at this time”. After 10 hours, an email has arrived that they have rebooked the flight to next day in the evening to another destination through another airline and then the day after it, it would go to my final destination through WestJet again. No information provided about where I will be staying in between the transit. Thanks to them, I’m not only exhausted … but will also now miss my kids birthday.
Never take Westjet for travel
Never take Westjet for travel. They have charged $23 for the internet service and then the flight attendant told me not to use the internet. That's a poor service.
Please teach your phone customer…
Please teach your phone customer service reps what customer service is. I had some snotty attitude girl on the other end that was very ignorant. Not necessary and definitely not professional!
WestJet lies, abandons passengers, and refuses compensation!
Worst airline I have ever dealt with. They canceled my mother’s flight, rerouted her on a confusing nightmare of a trip, sent a hotel voucher for the wrong city, gave a food voucher that didn’t work, and left her stranded overnight in a closed airport with no staff and no help. She’s over 60 and doesn’t speak English — this was unsafe and cruel.
When we tried to claim compensation, WestJet lied and refused to pay, blaming “maintenance.” Only after a flight claim company/law firm stepped in did she finally get her money — and they processed it much faster than WestJet ever did. WestJet is dishonest, careless, and treats passengers like nothing. Avoid at all costs.
So rude and discrimination in BC airport
So rude, change your seats without you. Not a good service. Description to people without kids. But when I checked seat at the plane no kids, only some older women. So discrimination behavior and lier. Rune my vacation.
An embarrassment for Calgary
Very low quality of service on-board: cheap food and drinks. If your seat in on the rear half there's a good chance you won't get to choose your meal as there will be only one choice.
Overcharge for carry-on, checked luggage.
No lounges in world most popular airports (like Paris - Charles de Gaulle)!?
Over-the head bins used by Westjet crew so you will chase your belongings through the entire airplane.
Westjet's customer service is awful
We all know stuff happens on trips. But i have never had a company that cares so little about helping their guests than Westjet. We had a lost bag. Weirdly, 2 out of 3 bags made it to our destination. They said our bag arrived later the same day we arrived. We spent two days of our vacation for them to then tell us it did not arrive and they did not know where it is. I called the baggage claim dept and they said it was it was at our the airport of our destination. We went to the airport to claim it and they then said they do not have it. No one could find our bag, I asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up on me and did not call back.
This is not the first issue we have had with Westjet and their terrible customer service. I do not recommend them, we will be switching all our accounts, credit cards and everything. Westjet does not care about their clients and only cares about making money and selling add ons.
I sent an email to westjet explaining I…
I sent an email to westjet explaining I left my IPAD down the side of my seat on a westjet flight and that I had filling out a report online explaining what happened and giving my flight # and seat # plus letting them know that my name was engraved on the back I received a reply asking for more information which I thought if giving them my flight and seat # wasn’t enough I don’t know what other info I could have given a week later I received another reply saying they could not find my IPAD and the case was now closed but 2 months later on find my devices it show my IPAD had been found and it was at a electronics recycling store and when I went to the store the owner felt really bad and explained that westjet send all the lost electronics they find on there flights to him to be reset so I can only believe that no one at westjet even looked for my IPAD and trying to make a complaint on westjet is impossible so if anyone loses there electronics on a westjet flight don’t bother reporting it just give it a couple of weeks and go to this place 12th street s.e because it’s probably there
This rates amongst the worst airlines on the planet
This is the worst airline by far that I have ever used, and I’ve used local airlines into Afghanistan and other places. Every-time I fly with them, they let me down, and worse yet do not take ownership of their failings or learn and improve. This time I’m on a 20 minute flight and they have managed to delay this by 2.5 hours -so far. Last time, they delayed their flight by a similar amount, resulting in a missed transatlantic flight and a 24 hour delay and then refused compensation. They are a joke. I hope they put more effort into their equipment maintenance than they do to their scheduling and customer service. If you gave a choice use anybody but them.
No pilots to fly
Boarded the plane - they then made us all get off cause the pilots had to go fly another plane. No other pilots to fly airplane - so we wait.
