West Country Water Park - Go Karting

We visited for the Go-Karting and ended up pulling our son off the track early. The organiser was friendly enough, but the marshals are very inexperienced and lack any interest of safety on track. There were drivers on track that were driving dangerously, purposely ramming other karts and not respecting the flags. It was more like a scene of bumper cars at the fairground. One lad never slowed down on any yellow flag and at one point drove fast around a kart that was being handled by a marshal on track. These drivers not once got black flagged and spoken to. For safety reasons we stopped the race and took our son off the track as it was a big accident waiting to happen. The quality of the track is very bad. It is extremely bumpy, to the point it caused red marks on our son’s back. It is a shame as it could be a great venue, but there is A LOT of work that needs to be done to make it more safe, professional and competitive with other venues. Improvements on the track and more staff training on safety and the use of flags would be a huge start. I’m afraid we won’t be returning.

Thank you for your feedback.

We take every safety concern seriously, which is why I called you as soon as you raised your complaint by email, and then personally spoke with the other participants, their spectators, and each member of the team on duty to establish whether we had an underlying problem.
None of them shared your account of events. Your son was keen to return to the session; leaving early was your choice.

As our manager explained on the day, our safety systems were all tested and working, and reprimands were issued to drivers not meeting our driving standards during the session.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. To anyone reading this review, I'd encourage you to visit and speak with Jason and the team in person. You'll find them friendly, polite, and exceptionally safety conscious. Our track is new (and expanding soon), we train our team regularly, and we meet frequently with experienced track operators such as the team at Haynes Karting to ensure we operate to the highest standards.

It's always disappointing to receive a poor review, and I would hold my hands up if we had got this wrong. Having investigated thoroughly, I'm confident we operated well within our safety guidelines.

I do happily put my own three children in my team's hands and they can't shut up about it, neither can their friends :-)

Good venue, poor customer service

Good place for a swim and I enjoy visiting but the customer service is poor.

I booked a swim session and then needed to re-arrange it a few days before. The website supposedly allows you to do this but it showed me a "technical error" message multiple times and asked me to try again each time.

I emailed customer service and got a borderline rude response so I booked the session separately and decided to speak to the reception team in person to resolve the duplicate booking. Turns out reception are unable to process refunds, and customer service are only offering to reschedule my £8.50 swim session for a further fee of £5!

Thank you for your feedback. As set out in our booking terms, changes to a session can't be made within three days of the booking date, which is why the online system wouldn't process the change you were trying to make. These terms apply equally to every customer. They exist to keep things fair for everyone and to keep the park running, particularly as a held place is one that another customer could have booked. Where a change is needed inside that window we can sometimes accommodate one for a small fee, which we did offer in this case. We understand that wasn't the outcome you were after, but we do apply our terms consistently for all our guests. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Ban manners.

I went here on the 14th August and used the lake for my own paddle board which was great.
We then used the aqua park and I slipped getting off and badly broke my ankle. Staff were really helpful and I am very grateful. After an op and three nights in hospital I am still recovering and just about able to walk. The management never called to see if I was okay despite telling us they would. Great park but bad manners from the owners.

Penny-pinching business

What a nasty, penny-pinching business.

My son wakes up ill, so we try to re-book for the following week. Not cancel. Despite their voice message saying that can change a booking within three days of a booking my emailing (and that it will incur an admin charge), I was told by Shaun that changes are not possible on the day - even one at 1700 that day. What an unnecessarily mercenary attitude. Presumably, £24 a booking, for a 45 minute session, even for a young child, doesn't make them enough money. I won't be returning.

Hi JJ

We operate these terms out of fairness to all our customers — extending or altering them on a case-by-case basis would create additional costs and inconsistencies that simply wouldn’t be fair to everyone else.

I hope you understand
