I never got as far as travelling with…
I never got as far as travelling with Wendy Wu Tours. I booked early with their special offer in October only to find the holiday offered at one point some £1800 cheaper where upon I contacted their office to suggest I cancel and rebook at the new price. After 3 days of phone calls and emails no decision as they couldn't make a decision without refering to a senior manager. In the mean time the price went up, disproportionately for the week I had booked despite the "special offer" still having another day to run. In fact prices went up and down over couple of days with no explanation. Six days later they came back with an offer that did not match the price at the point when I might have cancelled and rebook saving nearly £1500. At this point I lost any faith in their customer service and after reading their reviews on Trust Pilot rather than their website it became clear there was around a 50% chance of a good holiday but 25% chance of a major issue and I decided that I didn't fancy those odds as if something went wrong during three weeks in India life could be very difficult, so I cancelled and booked with a competitor who offered an 80% chance of a good holiday. No travel companies are perfect but I regret not checking Trust Pilot first as I will in the future.

An OK holiday limited by group size, control & itinerary
The things worked well were: the flight with Emirates (excellent); the group leader (hard working, pleasant and excellent); the hotel bedrooms (generally adequate to good); .
The things that didn't work so well: too many castles and temples, not enough natural beauty (I may have contributed to this in the choice of tour); the size of the group 27 (much too large for me - again I may have contributed to this); the central control of the whole tour (our group mleader was constantly working to make everything happen to the timescales set - without any real flexibility for traffic etc.); a number of hotels struggling to cope with a group of 27+1 coming to breakfast at the time required by WW's timetable (could easily have been planned better as it was in some hotels); the coach not having a WC (we checked, and some do); poor communication management by WW (incorrectly blaming our group leader for problems on another tour because someone in our group was copied in by the member of the other group - unfair, and we WhatsApp'd Wendy Wu to make this clear)
Would I recommend it? No - I have had much better experiences with other tour operators where the itinerary is more flexible and the group leader has more flexibility to manage things in the best interests of the group.

Disappointed
We did the Discover Japan tour and had some disappointments. Collection from and return to the airport is principally by public bus, not taxi or private coach. There is only one full day in Tokyo, half of which is taken up by a visit to an uninteresting park. There was no visit to the famous crossroads or to the bustling heart of the city. In Kyoto, there was no visit to the old geisha district even though the brochure showed the area. There were no alternatives for the food for those who don’t get on with Japanese food. There are long coach journeys to be endured. Having paid so much for a once-in-a-lifetime experience we felt we had been short-changed.

China Trip,
I have recently returned from the 23 day tour to China, Oct- Nov 2025. .
I found the whole trip was so well organized . and saw and learnt a lot All our Group (28) really loved our Tour Guide Hoffman Huo such lovely man was he kept us soo well informed each day. Found China very busy, the crowds were problem when you wanted to see something ,especially the Pandas.
The Hotels were very comfortable, and the meals each day were exceptional. The four day cruise on the Yangzi, another enjoyable time . ship so clean and staff very friendly.

Wendy Wu - Gems of China
The Wendy Wu - Gems of China tour, hosted by our tour manager Yang with excellent local guides (shout out to Alice, Felix, Kevin, Amanda, LJ, Steven) was the perfect blend of historical treasures, local cuisine and natural wonders that we hoped it would be. Fast paced but with travel time and a relaxing river cruise to breathe we didn't want to leave.

Our Grand Tour of China lived up to its…
Our Grand Tour of China lived up to its title being "grand" in every respect. In particular our tour leader Addison was extremely good and helpful to us all and I am sure exceeded what is normally expected of a tour guide. A long trip (25 days) with a large group (26) including flights train journeys and coach outings must be a nightmare to organise but everything was done to the highest standards. Thank you.

Gems of China
I loved every moment of the tour. I ticked off a lot of places such as The Great Wall, Pandas cubs playing, Terracotta Warriors and the Glass Bridge and walkways at Zhangjiajie, and Yangtze river cruise. I did not expect such amazing shows, and wonderful meals.
Our tour director, Yang, was remarkable, he was very experienced at his job, and able to run a tour of 27 people smoothly. No problem was too big for him to solve with ease. The individual city tour guides were all very knowledgeable, and did their best to explain a mixture of history and culture. They also guided us to the best toilets!!!!
The tour covers all the places of interest, plus a relaxing river cruise.

Dam Vuttha and Sour in Cambodia trip was just amazing. A very great and a knowledgeable guide. The trip was very well planned - we loved it - the driver was very good too! We always had water bottles and hand sanitizer. They were even prepared with umbrellas for the 16 of us when it rained. We loved the itinerary and kept as per schedule. The guide Ta was extremely friendly and very respectful- he managed us well keeping us on schedule. They made the trip so much better and pleasant.

Not only by rail but plane, coach, boat and even cable car this truly is a tour not a holiday. Lots of miles and sights not to mention hotels, although they will get a mention.
First plan your trip, as the starting point is Fukuoka on the island of Kyushu. Getting there means either a flight into Japan and a rushed internal flight from Tokyo or a broken flight at either Hong Kong, Singapore or Taipei. Take your choice but internal flights mean baggage clearance and while efficient this can be avoided by landing direct on Kyushu.
Baggage is an issue on this tour, any bullet train trip means your main luggage goes in advance on one occasion leaving the traveller with hand luggage for 3 nights.
The guides, June on the first half and Kimi from Kyoto onwards made the constant movement as painless as possible and without superb organisation the sheer breadth of the itinerary would have been impossible.
You do see a lot. You experience even more as this tour gives an authentic flavour of Japan which is rapidly becoming the place to visit and unlike many other destinations a lot of locals want to see the attractions as well. School parties are often vying with tourist groups at shrines and castles which is not the case in many other countries.
Crowds in Japan, which are not tourists, are polite organised and stress free, Tokyo trains are a perfect example of what can be achieved. The breakfast arrangements are not always the same, check whether breakfast times need to be booked via the television as is the case in some hotels. Breakfast is a variable event and just as you manage to come to terms with how one particular hotel is arranged you’re on your way to another.
Importantly the tour includes food that is authentic Japanese. This means plenty of uncooked and/or slightly cooked fish and even more sticky, white, rice. The Western dishes served to the group also sometimes struggled in translation. Coffee also varied, in both the machines to get it and the taste. Not all the hotel rooms had more than a kettle so a store of tea/ coffee bags should be gathered prior to needing them. There are convenience stories near all the hotels so getting snacks is not difficult although a translator on you phone is a good idea as Apple Pie Kit Kats and chocolate covered crisps are not to everyone’s taste.
The mix of our tour of 26 were 6 Brits,3 Kiwi and the rest Aussies which made a lively, friendly interesting mini tribe to tour with.
The weather went from 33 in the South to snow in the North so clothing choice for 3 weeks needs to be as practical and interchangeable as possible. While hotels may have washing facilities trying to get stuff dry did prove problematical for some.
A tour of a lifetime with memories that are only starting to really emerge after a week at home. Not perfect but then again if you want an authentic experience how could it be.

What a trip!!! We had an 11 day land tour of China titled Majestic China. Our tour guide Amanda was absolutely fantastic. We could not have asked for a better guide. She was so knowledgeable about her country and so caring about our group, who we ended up being called Amanda’s Pandas!!!!🐼 If you ever get the chance to pick your guide then this is undoubtedly the best choice. We had an unbelievable tour encompassing Beijing, Xian, Chendu, Yangztee river cruise and Shanghai. What an amazing tour and an amazing tour guide. Thankyou Amanda!!!!
